Let's hope it doesn't result in more violence.
Edit: The above was my first reaction. Looking at it sometime later, I would like to add that I think bringing him down was a good idea. One could read my initial remark the other way around. What I meant was that it could fuel the extreme forces. That's something I hope will not occur.

While I do not rejoice in this news, I am relieved to hear it. May the families of his victims gain some closure now.

Well that's good.
Now burn the body so no one tries to clone him or resurrect him with foul magics.

Since al Qeada is a decentralized loose association of small virtually autonomous cells, Ben Laden's death means little in practice. But a good symbolic boost. Perhaps even calculated as the USA needs something symbolic to boost morale these days.

Oh no...OH NO!
Does this mean bin Laden jokes are a dying breed?

Symbolic maybe, but still damn good IMO- even more fantastic that they were able to do it with Special ops guys on the ground

It is just as true now as it was when George Bush Sr. was running for re-election after the successful Gulf War.

I hope not, it wasn't exactly Obama (or Bush for that matter) journeying across Pakistan with a Delta Force team hunting down Al Qaeda and avoiding getting shot at by our Pakistani "allies."

I am also relieved to hear this, though I don't really like violence; this was needed.
It's nice seeing those people cheerful outside the White House; they feel safe.
