WB is extremely damaging. Remember that it deals 100% damage of the enemy you kill (Hello, Lieutenant!). I never care to set it up, though, as I like to play just controlling my PC.

i'm experimenting with a new build/party setup where my PC has WB...
should be interesting. I think if my theory-crafting works out i should have an effective ander-less party. No haste but I wasn't really getting anything from it (bloody magic resist bug).

update (not that anyone cares): It seems to be working! After I test this out a bit more I might make a compilation of some fights etc. I did the offered and lost fight in 1:25 which is a large improvement over the times I got in the past.

Eh ? I find it funny that all of you think dispel magic is useless, because that's a spell I put on all mages in my party in all my playhtroughs (I only take one mage with me at any time, usually), simply for the ability to interrupt party-wiping spellcasting before it does damage, and to wipe commander-types group buffs.

That's because we are so uber-l33t that we wipe the spellcasters and the commander-types in less than 5 nanoseconds. Well, I'm exaggerating a bit, but that's the spirit. Getting rid of the guy who does nasty things > protecting yourself from nasty things that guy does.

Exactly. DA2 is a different beast from DAO: Damage is more valuable than tanking. B)

Also, Stonefist interrupts casting.

You don't need to dispell magic of mage. My point is that there is no point to take "special" spell just for one enemy type what is also so rare and just one in few missions. I mean even "rogue assassins" are less rare and bigger problem than mages. Same spells what you use agaist assassins are fine to mages too. Mages are very easy to kill and they have low health. When mage pops in battlefield, just nuke it down first. Problem solved.

That depends on the mage...

If you side with the templars,there is a bounty hunt quests.The mages there have huuge healthbars,and in addition to that,are bloodmages who could heal themself "with one foot in".

Walking Bomb is the most overpowered spell.
Cone of Cold is also pretty good
