Has casey hudson or anyone from the dev team confirmed if Mass effect 3 will support 3d with the 3d glasses?

Mass Effect 3 using Unreal Engine 3

www.develop-online.net/news/34328/Mass-Effect-3-confirmed-to-run-on-Unreal-Engine-3

It's a fact that Unreal Engine 3 was designed to support stereo 3d.

List of recent and upcoming games that support 3D:

- crysis 2
- witcher 2
- cod black ops

That's off the top of my head.

I think Mass Effect 3 uses the unreal engine right? The latest unreal engine 3 supports 3d stereo out of the box so I hope bioware just toggles the switch on.

It's the year 2011 bioware, just a heads up.

First, it's Stereoscopic 3d.

I could care less about 3d. I watched Thor in 3d, and the 3d was distracting and just detracted from the story. Only film I've seen where the 3D was good was Avatar, and the whole point of that film seemed to be amazing graphics.

...haven't heard anything either way...

Maybe a little too early yet to start the marketing train with those kinds of things..since it is a very small niche market I wouldn't hold your breath.

I believe they don't use an updated Unreal 3, just the same Unreal Engine they used for ME2 with some personal tweaks. The problem with 3D is that they would have to remove some special effects to make it look like proper 3D and this would result in a worse looking game. I just hope they optimize the game's graphics for the majority of players who prefer 2D.

3d is a very small market to start with, before you even consider how much of that market would actually play Mass Effect 3. A lot more trouble than its worth from a financial perspective, probably so from a gameplay perspective as well.

Unless it actually is a toggle switch. In which case anything is possible, but the quality of 3d from a toggle option probably wouldn't be represented favorably anyway.

I'd like to play in S3D, but the current 3D PC Monitors are crappy TN Panels imho.

This response is so odd I am instantly reminded of that family guy joke when Brian and Stewie are in Germany; talking to the tour guide about why a section of The German timeline was blank in the late 1930's and early 1940's.

After hitting him with evidence of them invading Poland, Brian brings up the name of some guy (can't remember who) and his crimes. To which the tour guide responds:

"No! He went to manage Dairy Queen!"

I wouldn't argue with the idea of seeing thousands of Reapers decending on Earth in 3D. And it is the 3rd game so i geuss they have to include 3D support, that's the rules.

3d costs framerate. You have to render the scene multiple times a frame from different angles. Considering how the ME engine strains just to keep heavy biotic usage at 30fps, I say no.

I don't understand the hostility people are showing to the TC. I'm not sure about PC games, but PS3 games available in 3D are also playable in 2D, so I don't get why people are acting as if ME3 being available in 3D would force everyone to play it in 3D. You don't want to play it in 3D? That's not a reason to want to deprive those who have the equipment and the desire to play in 3D of the possibility of doing so.

I personally would really like for 3D to be available on the PS3 version. I recently bought myself a 3D-TV but haven't had anything interesting to use the 3D on. None of the current PS3 games available in 3D (with the exception of maybe WipeoutHD, but I haven't had a chance to buy it yet) interest me. And I'm not really into Uncharted or shooters. As for movies, none of the movies available in 3D interest me or I have already seen them in 3D in theaters.

So, I really need 3D material! In the topic about everything we know about ME3, it says that there's a possibility of it having 3D and I share the TC's desire to know if the game will indeed include it or not. If it doesn't, it's ok, but I'd be happy if it were and it'd be an extra selling argument.

I couldn't care less about 3d. They can put it in if they want but it’s a waste of resources IMO.

All PC games can be played in stereoscopic 3D whether the developer supports it or not. Sometimes you need to tweak a few 2D things but these tweaks are readily available on the internet.
