BTW, does anyone else feel as though the events ocurring in other parts of Thedas are infintely more interesting than being stuck in Jerkwall.

What's the thing that has the Wardens so concerned?

What's up with Flemeth and Morrigan?

Has Shale become a squishy flesh creature?

How's Ferelden doing under Anora/Alistair?

Nothing of interest happens in Kirkwall. Just Hawke being a Fed-Ex employee, and ninjas trying to kill you at every turn.

I had the same feeling about Ferelden. The grass is always redder on the other side and all that

I'd imagine that unlike Alistair, Anora would take her responsibilities a little more seriously and not go running off to another country to do lines about Swooping.

She'd probably take more of an interest in Orlais if thats where we go for DA3.

This. She and Empress Celene are probably BFFs.Image IPB

Nothing strengthens a friendship like one friend trying to steal the other's husband! :)

Oh sure it sounds more interesting. Until you find out that lack of a blight forced the Warden to take up a job as a pizza delivery boy to pay bills.

So...The Warden works for the same Pizza parlor as Hawke?

No Hawke works for FedEx. The Warden only wishes he had Ninjas on his delivery route! The most excitement he gets these days is that Dwarven merchant he keeps randomly encountering on the road.

So how is Orzammar doing under King Bhelen's rule (yep, Bhelen is the one I imported as my canon saveImage IPB).

@CutlassJack

It wasn't Anora herself, per se. The aggressive voice was hers, though. You know, in the very beginning of the game, where you get to pick your protagonist's voice? ;)

No that was Jo Wyatt. Completely different voice. But now it makes the above paragraph clearer.

The aggressive female human voice set in Origins was definitely Anora's VA.  I had it for my Queen Cous and liked it, until I realized that I was making Alistair marry Anora Cousland.  Image IPB  It made "shall I get you a ladder so you can get off my back?" take on a whole new meaning.

Negative. Jo Wyatt did all FemHawke's voices. Mika Simmons (Anora) did no work on DA2. Look it up on IMDb.

Obligatory reference.

Anyways, I felt the same sense of things being more interesting where I wasn't during Origins. It is a little more incessant now as they keep hinting at stuff happening elsewhere even more in DA2.

I did not feel that way during Origins. Why? Well I guess because we got to pick who's king over at Orzammar, got to visit Andraste's resting place, decided who rules an entire nation, and the fact that the fifth blight was taking place IN Fereldan.

While in DA2, interesting stuff was happening elsewhere, while you're stuck being a paper-boy who wins the Deep Roads lottery.

Oh! *bonk* My bad.

The amount of 'voice' the Warden used barely registered to me.

I actually liked Anora. It was a shame not to see her again, but I guess she just sent her husband to tell Hawke about swooping Orlesians or whatever it was.

I thought she was an interesting character. I suppose she would micro-manage the affairs of Ferelden in a way that Alistair wouldn't. Queen Anora is referenced as being married to King Alistair, but I find it strange that there's no mention of her plan to build a university or how she refilled the royal coffers, which were her goals if she's the solo ruler, and it's likely the same goals she'd pursue even if she's married to Alistair.

I liked "And thus I cloak my naked villainy!"  I don't think Hawke got any lines as fun as that one.

It would if you had to hear the damn ladder comment 3000 times.

Still had the feeling that important things went down. The opening of the Thaig may have far-reaching consequenses yet to be seen, as it is inevitable, for example. While it is a weakness the lack of big choises means that the things you do can be used more readily in sequels than the DAO ones, which would end up being pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things or bulldozing the choises given.

Still, I preferred the Origins way.

You must not have played WittyHawke then. Mine was nothing but hysterical lines.

Sadly, the poet did not appear in my game. Presumably because i was romancing Isabela. I didn't know about those lines until my wife told me about them.

The University probably failed due to the better one being over the border in Orlais and everyone would have just kept going there sept for Fereldens.. So nobody outside Ferelden would really care. "A University? In that backwater nation? Ha!"

I'm going to have to do a serious Anora run in DA:O than DA:2 just to fill in the details.
I liked her sharper than a razor attitude, whatever happens she'll be dangerous or very helpful at some point.
As she never dies, just gets to be queen, back up, joint ruler or prisoner left to do what she wants.

@Alistairlover... Shale gets a drop in the hanged man rumours.
"I heard the pigeon population of fereldan has plumeted, you have to be a sick individual to kill innocent creatures like that."

I always leave Ferelden under the joint rule of Hardened Alistair and Anora. It's best for the country. While I would like for my Human Noble to rule because he too would also be a great ruler, I've never once done that.

Tried it with my Female Human Noble, but sparing Loghain seemed to mess everything up with Alistair.

I am sure Anora was too busy raising all of those kids she and the warden have had to be running around the country side.

Speaking of which: what title does the Cousland who marries Anora hold again? DA:O had the whole "King, no, wait Prince-Consort" confusion, but Awakening stuck firmly with Prince-Consort. Yet, now, DA2 refers to him as a Prince-Consort in the codex but everyone says he's the King.

I'm getting kind of baffled, here. Are we supposed to assume he got an upgrade at some point, or is this just an error?

yes, Shale gets mentioned in the Hanged Man as "news" by the bartender.

Also, when I took Carver to the qunari compound he said that there was one qunari in Lothering and that was enough. So I guess Sten does get mentioned.

The Cousland Warden can become the King-Consort instead of the Prince-Consort when he's speaking to Queen Anora, but I suppose some could see him as King regardless of what he technically is (especially since some condescending call Anora a commoner despite the fact that she's a noble, since her father is the Teyrn of Gwaren).
