Eh? I'm pretty sure that was just part of DA:O being muddled on the issue. The agreement beforehand is that he'll become a Prince-Consort, then Anora says he'll "soon be your king" and, two seconds later, she turns around and says "prince-consort" again.

And, in Awakening, he's always Prince-Consort.

DA2 has just muddied the waters once again. Phooey.

Joshing a bit here.
If you think about it anyone running an Anora - warden match up intended them to be king.
DA:O just stayed bugged, due to until recently not bothering to fix it at source.

DA:2 may just have felt.. well they married her, they wanted to be king lets set it straight they did so.
It could be score 1 for a ret con that actualy solved an issue.
