Hello

DA:O is abit different from DA2 in terms of Attributes

So what should I be ranking up for each class in DA:O?

Warrior = ?
Mage = ?
Rogue = ?

Generally...

Warrior- strength+dexterity (Some like to boost constitution or willpower, though it's not needed. I'd instead look for gear that boosts health/stamina/stamina regeneration)

Rogue- dexterity+cunning (Some strength may be needed for gear requirements, though you can get strength boosts from accessories + the fade and leave this at the base amount)

Mage- magic (Spellpower is everything. More spellpower=more spell damage and less resists. You can leave willpower at base amount and just equip gear that boosts willpower/mana or spec blood mage)

If i click on auto upgrade for my team mates will it put the correct points towards what they need.
So for a mage majic etc? or will it just add random points to any attribute?

Thanks

It more or less depends on your build. There are some odd builds that work differently, like a Shapeshifter, who would need a lot of strength, or a blood mage, who would need more constitution than willpower.
But yeah, if you're not doing anything too out there, Arthur's right.

In my opinion, in Dragon Age 2, you should BALANCE among the attributes, that means you shouldn't focus on certain attributes, because the reason is very simple: unlike Dragon Age: Origins, where health and Mana/Stamina increase after each level. I agree that certain class should provide priority to certain attributes, but you should spend more point to the rest!!!
For example, if you are playing a rogue, Dexterity and Cunning surely will be your priority, but you SHOULD spend a lot of point to Constitution (to boost your health and survivability) and Willpower (Provide you Mana/Stamina pool, which is very useful for using skills/spells).
For the Companions, I also have to balance their attribute points. I cannot let my mage focus too much on Willpower and Magic, because they are fragile, so after all, I have to spend a lot of attributes to constitution, so that they are more durable in combat.
That's what I thought and played so far. Hope this could help!!!

For beginning players, I think a few points in constitution alleviates stress. I also do put points in willpower. There are items you can get to boost stamina, but the best ones are DLC or expensive, so you'll be a while at getting them, and in the meantime I find chugging potions or running out of steam tedious. OMMV.
