GameInformer. Casey said it in a very implied manner. He called it "special mission" wathever he is dead or not. I don't remember where, but I heard it was in Palaven. Im just putting the pieces together.

Oh.  So you're jumping to conclusions and filling in blanks.

Sigh.  False alarm, everyone.

What? No. But it's not like Im always slightly right and everyone just ignores I ever said anything.

*sigh*

I fail to see any inconsistency :)  What did Garrus say exactly? "I'd be complimenting you on your fringe"  Is that about right?  I don't remember him actually describing what a female fringe looks like.  Did he?

He didn't, but the comment seemed to imply that they'd have enough fringe for the gentlemen to compliment on.  Add to that the need for radiation protection and the fact that Dark Horse's art (and the stories they illustrate, BTW) has been known to fall short of expectations quite frequently, and you can understand the rage.

It doesn't break the lore, per se, but it's way off the mark from what BW seemed to be implying.

That's just adding extra information to what he's saying though :/.  Nothing he says implies that their fringes have to big enough... For all we know, it's the shape of the fringe that he responds to most.  We simply don't know what quality it is about the female fringe that turns him on...

I'm well aware of the radiation thing, but that doesn't mean they have to have biological plating there in order to survive.  I'll quote myself from further up the page:

I support visible plating too; like the back of their necks.  Having
said that, I don't really mind either way - I suppose they could always
explain that they adapted by using headwear (just as we survived the
last ice age despite our lack of hair).  Or they could say that it's a
recessive gene that's become prevalent to colony turians on
low-radiation worlds (like how blue eyes became prevalent in human
populations in Europe despite the fact it's a recessive gene).

Garrus may have a personal mission if he's alive =/= OMG WE ARE GOING TO MEET HIS FAMILY

@AwesomeName: True, but that seems like too many hoops to jump through.  Slapping a fringe on 'em would just be easier and make more people happy.

I am sure this one question on every man's mind at this moment.

"Can we have sex with Garrus' sister!?"

To be fair, that's pretty much how they explain why Star Trek: TNG Klingons look different from Star Trek: TOS Klingons.

They could just give the females shorter fringes in comparison to the long ones the males have. Look at some species of parrots like cockatiels and cockatoos, the females have head crest feathers like the males, just not as long. At the very least give them the face paint.

Then I guess I'm not a man, because I find sex with Garrus' sister to be not just a little awkward.:P

Pretty much - but more because consistency is cool.  Why do you think it's inconsistent?

Gah - CROSSED WIRES!  I misunderstood Kusy's comment (which he later clarified). Basically, I was saying that it was cool that the DH female turian was consistent with the lore of the games.  And then I was asking him why he thought the DH turian was inconsistent with the lore - but it turned out that's not what he was talking about at all (crossed wires).  It turned out he was saying he was fine if ME3 was slightly inconsistent with supplementary content, which is not what I thought I was disputing.  Having said that, I am happy if the ME3 version follows the DH version, because I think it does fit with the lore (coincidentally - and I said this in a totally seperate post unrelated to Kusy's post - I also happen to think that keeping with the DH version is also good for consistency between the games and the supplemental material... but, again, my main reason for wanting the DH version in ME3 isn't because of that, but rather that I feel that it's consistent with the lore established in the game). :)

Face paint is a sign of heritage and patriotism.  Any turian without face-paint is said to be untrustworthy.  It's not for attracting mates or anything.  Therefore, turian ladies should probably have face paint.

Shepard should try to sound less like a crazy homeless person.

Then maybe people would believe her.

Gotcha. I'm just saying that I'll be happy with the design as long as it fits with the game lore, and think the devs should have free will as long as it stays consistent with game lore. That said, some dev could have notes on their desk that contradict the Dark Horse design. If he does, those should take precedence, even if we've never seen them. If that makes sense?

And honestly, I don't think most people here are suggesting doing anything outside of game lore with the females. The only thing "cannon" says about them is that they have fringe and supportive waists, (though... not-sure-if-cannon establishes that they don't have those funny bumps).

As long as they have some kind of fringe and a supportive waist, they'll be consistent with cannon. And hopefully the no funny bumps thing is also true.

Saren had bro points with the Council.

Also, the lack of facepaint on him, Warden Kuril, and Joram Talid are all sneaky use of lore: BW is hinting you shouldn't trust them.

Why?  Because it's too much for most people's minds to handle?  I'm sure the writers could do far better than I, but I managed to offer ok explanations regarding their masculine appearance, radiation protection, and why their visual similarity to asari appears tenuous, in no more than 3 paragraphs, I think... How many paragraphs take up a typical codex entry?  Also, he DH female turians do have fringes...  Why people keep insisting they don't, I do not know *shrugs*.

Huh. I've never thought of that before.

Though, Talid is a politician, which can also be called a bareface.

Worth knowing in ME3.

Oh definitely - if they want to change the look, that's up to them... But, yes, like you, I'll only be happy if it's consistent with the lore. :)
