Easy, you admit the other half exists, but you ask yourself if you can really portray the difference in sex between an alien race without making them look to human. Then you ask if you have the time and resources to make it work.

To both questions, the answer is yes.  See OP and male quarians.

Also, consider the addition of vorcha.

Ok so the turians are supposed to be of avian decendant, and some birds are very beautiful. Why don't they go that route. Just don't draw boobs

If they're planning an MMO after ME3, there will be no way around creating female aliens. Its been talked about several times that that's the sirection they want to take the series. If you have a massivly open universe with dozens of planets, races and cultures without have women for half the aliens...NOBODY WILL BE HAPPY! Some people may not like the designs Bioware goes with, but not including them is worse. I think no matter what they look like, ME3 will sell 3 million + units and that not too shabby.

No, their actual evolutionary history hasn't been explained.  Their design was simply inspired in part by birds. That doesn't mean they ARE birds; not even in the sense of "descended from the Palaven-equivalent of an avian".

Additionally, krogans were inspired by insects and bats.

Nice doodle btw.

Thanks.

Confession: I couldn't figure out how to draw the fringe so I cropped it, derp.

On subject of voice actors: You guys mentioned some cool stuff, but I'd be happy as a clam if we got Susan Egan to do a voice.  I mean, yeah, she's a Broadway singer (and Disney most likely owns the rights to her eternal soul), but her normal talking voice is awesome in and of itself.

Okay, maybe I'd just love her to voice anyone, period.  Hurr dee durr.

You know Susan does have a nice voice. Although I think I would prefer a little Olivia Olsen for a female Turian, I bet they would both make for extremely different Turians though.

usually the males are more prominant than the females.  females have to hide and take care of their young, so they're usually more drab. darker colors, shorter plumage, etc.

males have to attract mates and are thus more flamboyant and much much prettier.

however, that could translate over pretty easily.

Depends on the species. With songbirds this is most often the case, however, with birds of prey there often isn't any visible gender difference at all.

To be honest, there are plenty of species with almost no sexual dimorphism. Why not have at least one alien species that fits this bill? Maybe salarians are more suited to this, but turians could work this way as well.

This is very true, and turians would fit it very well... what with their militaristic society. the females would have to be fit for fighting too.

Derek Watts: "They [the turians] are all male in the game. We try to avoid the females because... how do you make a turian female?"

*paraphrased from "Creating Garrus" video

Oh right. Forgot.

They should do it like the japanese and just give female turians bigger eyes and a smaller jaw.

No.
No.
No.
..and No.

No japanese cartoonish features in ME please. It will reek of cheese.

If anything make the female turians and salarians more vibrant in colors and shades; leave the body shape and features alone for the most part.
Hell, why not make the salarian females taller and differently dressed? According to most amphibian evolved species, the females are larger.

Why wouldn't they be fit for fighting if they look different? Human females can fight just fine and they vary from Human males. (Not saying that female Turians need boobs, just making a point)

Men actually have more body strength in general than women.  More muscle mass, bone structure not configured to squirt out babies, etc.  Women, on the bright side, have a lower center of gravity.

With turians, however, I can see the females being just as strong physically as the males.  Or maybe make up for the difference in strength with better mobility.  Reach and flexibility and all that.  Either way, they teach both how to kick your ass starting at age 15.

Don't pick a fight with any turian past puberty, man.

Unless you're shep. Then pick fights with Yahg.

Edit: When I was talking about fighting, I was talking about modern combat where almost everything is done at a distance. In modern combat (in the ME universe... At least until ME3 apparently) if the fight reaches melee range, you are doing something wrong, unless you are shep but he's a different case.

Another supporter for female Turians signing in :D

Preferably a squadmate, then there's a chance BW might add something nice to the BW Store like a t-shirt :D You know Turian women are going to be awesome.

I support this, but i fear if they do include them in ME3 they will make them look less alien then there male counterparts. Just because it's a videogame and a character is female doesn't mean it has to look "female" from our point of view ( Us stinky humans)

Anyway what i said has already been mentioned alot..so im going to say again that i support this! but have concerns..so many concerns.

i worded that wrong. i guess what i mean is that if they're pretty equal in looks, it would be easier for them to be equal in status.
as a female who can hold her own with males ... i see what you're saying... in the animal kingdom, if we're going with avian comparisons at least...  the types of birds that look the same are the ones that fight equally.

....i'm really not making my point very well.

um. right.

edit:  going back and actualy reading posts.... agreed with Cheez. listen to Mr. Cheez.

The wiki states

It is not known if hanar have more than one gender, or are asexual (as some jellyfish species are)

So I assume there's no visible gender differences.

Well jellyfish are jellyfish.

Edit: And some species of jellyfish are hermaphroditic, so there's always that too.
