Coming up with a female Turian design should NOT be hard, especially since male designs ran into no such problems (double standards, much?).

If they do it wrong it will be so sad, after two games spent waiting. That's what I'm afraid of. Frankly there's no need for new models (new risks). If they used the generic turians model for women it would be great.

To which I call bullsh*t. There are soooo many ugly dudes in videogames--it's only fair.
Not that female turians need to be ugly. I find those two in the concepts I posted to be quite cute and rather, I don't know, "feminine" I guess, without going all boobs and lipstick.
BTW, original artists.

I don't see how we could be going to the Turian homework and not possibly see a single turian female. So I would say that it is at least a better than average than chance that they'll make an appearance.
Women are kept at home away from the prying eyes of outsiders... obviously.

And yes, before anyone gets pissy with me, I'm kidding about the "women don't need their brains" part.

Yeah, Turian women are classy and really ladylike. They don't need stupid funny bumps to attract the physically inferiour males.
Also, Antimatter Alcohol Turian thinking about funny bumps is an institution. He's like the Messiah of xenophysiology. You simply CAN'T deny his expertise!
NO FUNNY BUMPS!!!

I'm all for turian females though - my main idea was giving them different jaw ,hip and waist lines and more of a wing rudiments on arms and elbows.Loved your fanart btw, especially faceplates on second. Devs should forget about scientific explanations and just go with the best-looking design(not in sex appeal, but in sensibleness)
What I would really like is to hear a turian female - this processing could sound really amazing with some of a deeper voices...
*edit* I explain "scientific explanations" bit to spare myself the trouble of answering individual posts.Basically, what i want them to do is take a lore-sensible design and put it in game, then do the same thing they did on "thermal clips" codex entry. And don't tell me they don't have any (because of the interview), when even fans came up with pretty decent ones.

the problem with this will be future nitpicking of turian females by not-fans. Like too big difference from male(impossible on gene level!) or how they bear babies with all that plates in the way and so forth.

There must probably be only a few turians in ME, that's why we don't see any
That is as true as this:

Anyway, hope we'll se some female turians. I mean, it can't be that hard. Just make them smaller and give them a lighter voice.
And BW's excuse on why we haven't seen any female turians is b/c of lipstick? Hah, that's not even an excuse.

Technically, the excuse is that they are having issues making a female seem feminine without resorting to stereotypical human female traits like breasts or make-up or ponytails.

Legally there's nothing stopping them from just picking a random piece of fanart and saying, "This is canon because we like it." The IP belongs to them, and fanfiction is basically just non-profit "loaning" of an IP. I remember at least one case where a fanfic authour (albeit a famous, professional author in this case) had his fanwork declared canon. Can't remember his name though, dayumshametychuscat.jpg.AdmiralCheez wrote...
Maybe they're concerned about plagarism?
However, they might feel that it's either below them to use fanart as a design base, or they don't want to get labeled as the devs who lets the fans do all their work. If this is the case then it's ridiculous since we're talking the quality of the IP as a whole. Discarding good ideas and frameworks laid out by fans that could help improve the IP is counter-productive.
But hey, they're only human, with all the pride that comes with it.

Slightly off topic, but I'm pretty sure that batarian females look basically like males. The batarian you meet when you first land of Omega is refered to as a she and her. Assuming that that was intentional, which I would have to assume it is, then batarian females look basically like the males. So there would be one set of alien females than isn't "hot" at least by the usual standards. So it can be done and by Bioware.

Similarly, that little guy in the Urdnot camp was an immature male, serving as an ambassador for the females.

I still don't see what's wrong with the female turians in the comics... *has tried to explain the whole bachelor party and visual cortex thing too many times to even bother again...*
Btw, I really appreciate the OP - 'tis indeed ridiculous how we never see them :/

At least one author has been successfully sued for incorperating fan-work into her stuff. It's a very tricky area.

I really don't have a problem with them besides the bald-headed lore buster, but what annoys me is that they have already come up with a design for turian females in the official material, plus plenty of fan concepts, but they're still all, "we have no idea what to do, hurr."AwesomeName wrote...
