How can I get my Gamma higher? i am not able to move the bar is solid. Gmma is stuck at 1, but is too dark for me.

Click the arrows next to the actual number, not the bar. That'll change it.

it is a solid bar, the arrow won't move pass 1.
Screen Gamma: 1 and is solid so I can't select it, it won't high-light.

Have you tryed to rise your gamma from your video card / windows setting ?
Your gama is dark only with this game or for oher games too?
You can also check the gamma of your screen (manualy).

Doesn't the 1.02 patch fix this? You can also edit your ini file in My Documents>BioWare>Dragon Age 2>Settings. Change the value to 1.5 or something and it should be brighter.

The 1.02 patch increased the Gamma range but it still has a slight bug which will be fixed in patch 1.03.
Each time you start up DA2 you have to go back into the Options - Video section (you don't have to touch anything in it) and then go back to activate your settings.
As I said, it is slated to be fixed in 1.03
