... in DA games. Or rather, do you want more romance? I would say no. I find it distracting that everyone wants to jump into bed with me. This is also true in DA2... (ho ho ho)

Seriously, I think more time should be spent developing the characters in other ways and less on having  a romance option with everyone in your party.

If you need to have such a variety of romance, then one suggestion might be to make it harder or less trivial to initiate romance, so it doesn't feel like you are such a mack daddy. Right now it feels like:

Merrill: its all so hard blah blah
Hawke: Its okay, I'm your best buddy lets hug
Merrill: I love you. Lets have sex.

And for the love of the Maker remove the big heart icon! It ruins all the fun of the chase...

Yes!

Wait...you mean in dragon age games.........

*Ahem*

Meh. I'd prefer more companion dialogue, romantic or otherwise.

For the love of the chase? It took like 7 years to bed Merrill in this game. The hearts are good because I don't want to give Anders any funny ideas.

I agree completely. But if it were gone, people would whine about being ninja-manced by Anders. Oh wait.

I don't want more sex. If I want porn, I go get it.

I want more interaction with the LI. 3 years have passed, and she still hankers after him? No way. Sorry, but girl don't play that. There is no development. Not even the slightest hint that the relationship is still going on in some way. He stays with her, but she won't corner him and ask for explanations? She seems to have spent the time in a stasis pod. She sees nothing, hears nothing, feels nothing.

Heck no. That's so unbelievable it's almost comical in nature. It ruins an otherwise great story-line. Bioware is one of the few who can pull off romances - well, they did in the past. No healthy woman in the prime of her life would act that way. Not hardly, imo.

Before anyone screams that romance isn't an integral part of a RPG, I beg to differ. It certainly is, imo. An overwhelming score of movies and books have romance in it somewhere. And surprisingly, it only seems to add to the story - somehow.

As for the availability of romance options, I think they've hit a good balance. You can pursue romance with others according to the character you want to roleplay, not just according to some prefabricated notion of the princess-in-the-tower or something. If you don't want to pursue someone, then it can be like the romance option isn't even there (esp. in DAO). It's also realistic to have one, maybe two, of your companions hit on you.

It might be unrealistic to have the ability to cheat w/in the party if you're traveling together all the time (like in DAO) - but maybe less so in DA2.

Frankly, in DA2 it's one of the few remaining roleplay options they left us.

More sensuality, more romance.

Being serious for a moment, I actually agree that having romance options is a good thing. I just thing there are too many, and too trivial in their initiation. I just called the thread 'do you want more sex' to get people to read it.

Seems to have worked...

They both have four, and it seemed about right to me.  People who travel with you all the time aren't likely to be married.  Aveline's the only exception I can htink of, but that's pure gameplay-story segregation.

And sure, the title got me to read :D

It's discouraging that you treat an important aspect of a RPG this way OP. It has always been an important part of the story to me. I want my PC to be human, and that includes intimacy.

Unfortunately, you have succeeded in pushing a very important aspect in a RPG ( to me, personally) into the "psyc out" area. Congrats. I hope you're happy. Should another serious thread about romances pop up, I'll be sure to give it the attention it deserves. Meanwhile, like I said, congrats. Immaturity ftw.

Rather than making DA2 a sex simulator, I'd like it if they would expand on the romances in general. For example, throughout the story there could be events that trigger some kind of special "romance"- dialogue in the game? As far as I remember, both DA games have had a couple of dialogue bits triggered by romance, but it was in camp, home. I might not be explaining this really well, but anyways.

For example, let's say that you would be romance-romancing Merrill, not just doing her. Let's say you both acknowledge that you are in a deep relationship. Then a kid runs past them and Merrill suddendly says : I want to have kids someday.

Or something like that. I hope you get my point. In DA it kinda felt to me that the sex is the ultimate goal, and pretty much the end point of the romance. And I don't really like that. It just feels so very shallow, and well, videogame-ish.

P.S.
I don't understand why so many people are obsessed with sex in DA. I am perfectly fine with fade aways.
P.P.S
Just for shock value: I am a straight male, and I want romances that are more than boobies and sex scenes.

Why do people keep recommending games that aren't even released yet? (TW2, Skyrim...)

I happen to generally find sex scenes incredibly boring, so the change in DA2 was quite welcome.
Generally, I want a longer build-up to romance, and less companions flirting with you if you haven't shown any interest in them. I would also like some more post-romance scene convo's.

Perse, someone asks for mature, real sex scenes, of course i'm going to recommend them TW2. Have you seen the pics of "that" in TW2?

I'd like to see more intensive care romance scenes... "Boy, your intestines spilling out of your body make me so hot."

More intense romance scenes, the wording was. I've seen the pics. I'll withhold judgment until I see the full scenes. I will cry over what CDPR did to Geralt however, that new design is an abo----er...awful.

I like emotional depth and finding more out about a character in their romance path. Adds replayability too and something extra to the protagonist's story.

The actual sex I couldn't care less about.

Agree with OP. We need more meaningful romantic pursuits and less cheap sex. Even though this is a 18-rated title, it sometimes seems like it is aimed at teenagers (no offence meant to teenagers though).

Perhaps because hope dies last for some people? Could be.

I won't ever get TW1 or TW2. It is not appealing because there is no gender choice. That is the one and only pre-requisite for me. I can't play a male. No, I'm not a mishanrdi-ist. I love men. But I can't play one. I tried, but it doesn't work for me, personally.

Skyrim, I'll wait. I know what to expect from Bethsoft, and I won't touch it until the modders have a chance to tackle it.
