Here's something to think about... why don't your companions ever fall for each other/get it on? Its always 'Everyone wants a piece of Hawke/Warden'. Doesn't Anders/Vengeance ever look at Fenris and think "Hmm... I feel like I need a bit of lyrium..."

Doesn't Fenris hook up with Isabela if you don't romance her?

They do but only after they fail in a romance with you (I think you just need to start down the path? Not sure if you have to reject them.)
In character banter I wondered if Anders and Bethany were going to hit it off. That's about it though.

I don't mind, either way (more or less sex in BioWare's games, that is), as long as it's tasteful and executed well (Mass Effect 1 did it best, I think. ME2 was so-so, while DA:O and DA2 were cringe-worthy).

IMHO, the more important thing is a coherent story, well developed characters, 'solid' gameplay, and a game that doesn't feel 'rushed'.

Yes but that's between me and the little lady. Quite frankly I don't see what any of this has to do with DA2... Oh, in game... right.
As a mature (relatively speaking) adult, I wouldn't mind. But BioWare has to make games that it can sell to a broad audience.
Don't forget: Kill millions, commit genocide, acts of terrorism, racism , and every vile violent behavior is okay in video games. Show some sideboob and you'll get your game banned from stores.

This. So much this. Apparently, depicting acts of terrorism and Hawke killing about 85% of Kirkwall's population are appropriate. But showing some skin is not. Americans sure have strange moralsPosted Image

Well I am not sure if we need more sex.

I am not too comfortable with the idea of a dialog like “Hey hawky pass me the lub I need to test you threshold” or cut scene from that looks like “ultimate surrender” in DA:3
But yes it could be a tad more sensual and we are talking about virtual breast here.

I think what is missing is more getting the feeling that there is still something going one after the fist night. It is a bit as if good we shagged so you can move to the guest room, please makes sure you do no take your breakfasts at the same time as me.

I think touching and other hints of familiarity would be more romantic. A hand on the shoulder or the arm or the back in more situations, maybe standing a bit closer (or finding yourself together in position in dialogues and cutscenes more often OH MY GOD SCRIPTING NIGHTMARE).

This to me would have been a fine substitute for tons of extra lovetalks (and hey, doesn't require extra VO!). They seem intent to wield sex as the great climax to their romance tracks. I suppose it's good that it happens, but it feels like it's just stuck there to facilitate the morning after (or the night before) talks ("And now we are in love and at peace, huzzah!") since the characters don't actually sleep or whatever (it's hard to make two people realistically share a tent when there are no tents). It's hardly organic, but I forgive them because they have to put the content into a game that's fun to play.

Nudity (especially creature nudity) doesn't bother me, but it's just too fake (I mean, look at the elves' faces, and you want to see their junk too?). They could fudge it with visual effects, but I think the current system is fine for covering up some of the deficiencies with the technology.

More sex is better, after all, it is a fantasy game lol, as long as its done in a way that doesnt make it seem over the top.  If these truly are M rated games, there should be a bit of nudity in the love scene's, just saying.

I'm not sure that more sex is needed, although after reading some of this topic I could be wrong..lol. For myself I have no interest is watching my characters bumping pixels. Nor am I one for the romance thing, I'm more interested in a good story and game play. If the characters just want to have some fun in the sack, I'm good with that, but make it an option, an either, or thing. Some have made comments on the subject of sensuality or nudity, showing some skin and I have no problems with that. I think it adds another way to customize your character.

In this thread and others, many have said that Americans have strange morals. As an (Native) American I have to agree on this one and sadly I don't ever see that changing. Sex is evil and sinful but violence is fine. I wasn't raised (thankfully) with stringent values like that and my profile name says it all. As a country farm boy I and my friends grew up with a degree of sensuality and I do not see anything wrong in adding some sensuality in these games and at least you had that option in Origins. But, we are back to that customization issue so I'll leave it there.

More romance or sex?, not a big issue with me as long as we can get around that if we wish to. But, I will go this far, if the romance, sex thing does happen, at least do it right. I mean c'mon..Hell, we don't even have decent undies in this game... oh well...

Just my thoughts on the subject.

I just find it... well 'normal.' Since when has sex NOT been a symbol of love? Really. It's part of any successful relationship. If your dating someone as an adult, you are going to have sex with that partner, weather love or just lust, it's all the same. I don't mind it, and I hope it stays in Bioware games.

But I hope more skin is shown during this sex scenes. What's next? Fade to black? GOD FORBID!

Sex in the game really doesn't matter to me, but a rich story and story progression is. But if it is there and portrayed in a way that advances richer character interaction, I think that is fine. It doesn't have to go into an actual visual of the act, I already know how that looks in real life anyway; fading into black is just fine after maybe a kissing scene of which I totally approve (I am a romantic at heart anyway). As far a romance, I would like to keep that for LIs in games. DA2 was just too disjointed to ever get a feel that I was truly romancing, especially when the time-line was broken into spans that where I would have walked away from a real romance if it worked like. In Origins, Leliana was too easy and I could spam numerous questions near right away after meeting her to get a kiss. Morrigan was set that way as well, except I had to offer a gift.

I want romance to evolve as I talk to my LIs during the course of a game that also has a rich story, where the possibilities of romantic options happen after a time of the game's story progression, after much interaction has happen with my LIs as they experience being in my company. I could leave Leliana at camp for the whole of the game, and still romance her, yet she really wasn't getting to know me while I was playing the story out.

Maybe as DLC, they could include a sort of "Date-Night" Quest pack.

Something like a new Act 3 Quest for every character. Romancable characters would have dates where only the two of you work through a quest with some romantic reward (something for Hawke as well as another potential costume change for the Companion?), while single Male Hawkes would get a quest from Varric and single Female Hawkes get one from Aveline with the explanation that 'you don't seem to get out much' or something.

I offer this suggestion because sometimes you want to go out with your LI and maybe just spend time together like normal people, rather than taking them with you as you hunt down the criminals in Lowtown.

I wouldn't say no to more sex in the games. But I would prefer that you and your love interest actually matter.

It feels like in Bioware games that you just choose a love internest and the end goal is just to get laid. That's the whole point of it. I would like an actual relationship there.

I don't mean I want something like Fable or anything. Just something other than sex.

And one of the many reasons I like you so much Rock.:kissing:

Oh and yes, treat me like an adult with sexual content (no I am not talking porn or even Sex in the City, no lube needed). But also more realism outside the bedroom...a touch, hand holding, a look, a kiss...geeze you'd think Hawke just loved and left em, or they did.  Let's be a little more realistic outside of it. Hell, I even had Wynne lecturing me in DAO. Have the others comment on it more. Or even ask. Random once in a blue moon mentions by Merrill to Fenris about puppy dog eyes really isn't cutting it.

I agree with Tommy. I DA2's way of handling it would've been good--the concept of allowing certain conversations to arrive with time. I didn't like that interaction could only be done at the LI's respective estates. That felt way too unnatural versus how you could interact with them anywhere. I think what should happen is a mix of both. Certain discussions require privacy, while sometimes things could be discussed publicly. I also think that you quickly ran out of things to talk about with your LI, just a few conversations and that's it--for the entire act! I think that while it doesn't have to have nudity, they probably could have implied it more like the first game.

That said---the sex! Ummm well, half nakedness is fine like the first game. No porn please. But I don't want an implied encounter either.

Right that's quite enough of that sort of thing, what a consenting couple choose to do whether in real life or a simulated experience should remain a private matter that only they, the poultry, livestock, vegetables and various consenting plants and intrusive implements are party to.

Honestly talking about such things is perverted, now if you'll excuse me i've got a gimp mask to repair so good day sirs and madams.

Sure, I want the romances to be deeper and to develop better. Sex has seemed like the climax (..ahem..) of all the Bioware romances I've played but I would say this was less true in DA2. Imo, what might have completely banished that feeling is another romance dialogue in Act 2 after sexy-time.

I took issue with most of the flirt options. I fell in love with Leliana in DA:O because you could enter into her romance very subtly. In DA2 I felt like you had put yourself waaaay out there, which I'm sure works for some people, or not get a romance at all. Flirting felt unnatural and even inappropriate sometimes, like when Anders tells you about Justice and you get "I like men with dark pasts." Of course this wasn't always the case, but I would very much appreciate a little more subtlety in flirting, without getting ninjamanced.

As for the actual sex scenes themselves, ME1 is still the winner in my books as far as being tasteful and satisfying. It was actually beautiful, it didn't feel like awkward mannequin sex, and it was passionate. So yeah, more of that. :P

Seriously, I think more time should be spent developing the characters in other ways and less on having  a romance option with everyone in your party.

If you need to have such a variety of romance, then one suggestion might be to make it harder or less trivial to initiate romance, so it doesn't feel like you are such a mack daddy. Right now it feels like:

Merrill: its all so hard blah blah
Hawke: Its okay, I'm your best buddy lets hug
Merrill: I love you. Lets have sex.

And for the love of the Maker remove the big heart icon! It ruins all the fun of the chase...

More romance
more friendships
more rivalries
more comrades-in-arms talks
More talks between the player and companions
more talks between companions and other companions
more talks between companions and npcs

It's the characters and their interactions that make Dragon Age really stand out.  More of that would not be a bad thing.

And if you think it's trivial to start a romance in DA2, you should see ME2:

"You took the time to do my personal quest.  I want you now"

i agrree with that the last couple of bw titles have made the romance feel more like a quest reward then anything.
But, yes i would like more i gues or atleast better constructed content. Personaly i like the romances in games like BG2 and ME1 were it felt the love story was a subplot that built up across the game rather then just a few moments were clicking a heart icon leads to a cringe worthy sex scene.

I'd like more romance, and more intimate sex scenes. Doesn't mean I want to see someone getting railed, but seeing some well done scenes with nudity wouldn't be too bad. I have a difficult time accepting that after my character and his love interest have sex, they rush to put their underwear on and cuddle.

Silly Buttons!  Hunting down criminals in Lowtown is how Kirkwallians (Kirkwallites? Marshers? Wallites?) do a date night.  Finding evildoers, body slam falling ninjas, and busting a few crates for moldy scarves. Ahhh.....Good times.

But all kidding aside, I would certainly buy that Date-Night DLC.
