I'm fine with how the romances turned out as far as the love scene, or lack thereof. Id'd like to see more of any time f interaction with the team members.

That said, I was a bit distubed when I saw the actual scenes, after we were shown clips of underwear clad scenes before release. Sleazy marketing technique or did they change them at the last minute?

More sex? I actually preferred the fade-to-black in DAII to the sex-with-underwear of DAO (although I have various mods that improved on that considerably.) If BioWare don't feel able to give us tastefully nude scenes like the ones in the first Mass Effect game for whatever reason, I'd rather not see the sex at all. Especially if it involves Morrigan putting on a bra.

More romance? Mainly what I'd like is more opportunity to interact with your love interest after you get together. Some of the romances in the series have managed not to make the sex the, um, climax of the relationship - with Morrigan, Zevran, Fenris and Isabela it's really just the beginning. The others don't seem to have much to say to you after you reach that point, however - and that's really just as much of a problem with Alistair and Leliana as it is with Anders.

Could anything beat Mass Effect 2's nine romance options in number? Plus a few appearances from previous ones.

I don't want any romance or sex in games. Useless feature what has NOTHING to do with games story.Too much focus in something what doesn't improve the game. I would rater have something what can build friendship between my character and companions. It's difference between emotional and sexual connection.

You want bro-mances and sisterhood in the games... or the gay-relationship between man and woman, all sparkle and no sex :D

I don't want more sex. If I want porn, I go get it.

I want more interaction with the LI. 3 years have passed, and she still hankers after him? No way. Sorry, but girl don't play that. There is no development. Not even the slightest hint that the relationship is still going on in some way. He stays with her, but she won't corner him and ask for explanations? She seems to have spent the time in a stasis pod. She sees nothing, hears nothing, feels nothing.

Heck no. That's so unbelievable it's almost comical in nature. It ruins an otherwise great story-line. Bioware is one of the few who can pull off romances - well, they did in the past. No healthy woman in the prime of her life would act that way. Not hardly, imo.

100% agreed!

I don't care for more sex scenes. I want to talk to my LI more. Or you know, at least have Merrill say something other than she thinks Sandal is watching her. That annoys me.

I wouldn't mind more sex scenes if they were tastefully done. DAO's were cringe-worthy, and DA2's were boring. I think ME does sex best.

Anyway, I think a good romance rounds out a story very nicely, and adds additional depth to a player's emotional investment and appreciation of the overall game. I concur with the OP: I would like a better developed romance feature; a more realistic sexual relationship with your love interest is part of it, but the chase and ensuing dialogues are also strong factors. I WANT BOTH.

If not, more talking please, as it seems the DA team does writing better than cinematics (no offense to the cinematics people!)

Nah it's cheesey and almost insulting in an 18 rated game. We will see how far the bar is raised after Witcher2 with regards to depiction of sex.

I want more sex and intimacy in DA games. It doesn't have to be pornographic, but it can be artfully done and mature. At least more kissing options and chances to jump into bed.

more sex? depends how well integrated into the romances and game it is (and no I don't mean it should be playable, DA should never be that kind of game :P )
but certainly more work on the romances, don't get me wrong they're good but where's the conversations with your loved one? seven years and just one kiss, one shag and three or four conversations?

Games have past movies in terms or revenue, or are close to it. Games are quickly becoming our interactive movies. To that end the amount of sex should probably be about parallel and Bioware shouldn't be pulling this whole "sex in underwear" thing.

This is a mature rating game. If they are really that concerned simply don't chose thos dialogue options or have a slider in the options menu for the amount of adult content. It can't be that hard to scale boot-knocking to a peck on the cheek in the animatics.

In a video game, sex is not important to me. Friendships, rivalry and romance add to the game, but the actual simulated sex part isn't very sexy.

Yes please!

Seriously, I back those comments asking for more conversations and interaction with LI's. Especially post-romance - I find it disappointing that post romance ending there is so little interaction with them.

It feels like a wasted opportunity for Dragon Age 2. Here was a game set over ten years, and focusing on family. So surely there was an opportunity to explore deeper relationship elements? For example, in act 3 you could have had offspring and quests about them. That could have ramped up the drama dial to eleven!

Meh. I'd prefer more companion dialogue, romantic or otherwise.

This. Also, romances don't work very well in DA2, from a timeline perspective.

Including sex in of itself is not necessarily a good thing. Including it in the context of a deep, gratifying romance is a good thing because it adds emotional depth to the romance. What Bioware did in ME1 was PERFECT. The sex scene in ME1 was tastefully done, it made sense with the story, and it was completely appropriate in the context of the romance. Every romance/sex scene since then has been cheesy and/or awkward, and probably could have been left out altogether.

I feel that when you romance a character, that you end up getting a lot more of their personality. So yeah, more options would be nice.

Also, I agree that the romances in DA2 seem a little trivial at times. I'm sure that Bioware could make it a lot less so if they brought back being able to just chat with your teammates when you wanted. That way you don't have to watch out for the big heart icon whenever you talk to a potential LI. You can just go and chat them up, get to know them better, and hit on them then.

If you want more sex in a video game play Bonetown. Fade to Black works for me.Being married for 39 years, I think I have an idea of what happens next without having to actually see it. Romance does add a bit of reality to role playing, but does sex? It doesn't for me.

Not really. I think DAO got it right where you could go and do it whenever you wanted assuming their approval was high enough (or low enough in Morrigan's case) and they were being romanced... Having it happen just once in DA2 seemed a bit forced - even if in DAO you don't use the option to trigger it again, it doesn't seem to be a big deal to give the option seen as all it does is fade to black anyway. I think it should only show the cutscene on the first time. I do think it should be paced better like in DA2 though, where it can only happen after X main quests.

I think the cutscenes clearly need improving though. It's ridiculous that in a 12A film you can have way more realistic scenes than in an 18 (M in America) game. It's not that the game makers can't make more realistic scenes, it's that they're scared of the negative media (ie Mass Effect). The DA2 ones were better than the DAO ones but both were shockingly bad. In a game where a massive focus is put on character development and your companions, it seems lame to end that character development with a lame cutscene...

But yeah, I'd rather they just made better interactions like DAO. DAO was country miles ahead of DA2 in terms of character interaction, and would be even better with better pacing liek DA2.

Pretty much my opinion. Except for the 39 years part, that is, blimey, you been married longer than I'm alive. And to think being married for 10 years seemed a hallmark for me. Congrats on that.

Well, I find all sex scenes unnecessary, unless it actually adds something to the story. Sex for the sake of showing some sex scene, is not what I am looking for regarding entertainment playing a videogame.

And frankly I'd rather the developers spend more time on something else entirely.
