More sex? No.
More romance, yes. I thought DA:O had the perfect amount of sensuality and romance. DA2 I felt could have gone into more intensive romance.

if you can't do it right don't do it at all is what i say, i thought ME2's sex scenes were better than DAO's awkwardness or DA2's mailbox clanging - it's like watching action figures hump

I havent read the whole topic and im only responding to the topic creater.

The strongest point of DA 2 is the interaction with the other characters in my opinion, its one of the things I love about the game and what makes me able to replay it, cause there is always a line or two you never knew a character could say.

I also think its very hard to do it the right way, make the "chase" to long and you get more of a ... Dragon age dating sim. make it to short and its like everyone just looks at you as a piece of meat. I personally would like to see that you get to know the character and learn a lot more about them, instead of what you just described.

I like the romance thing in the DA games to some characters im just instinctly drawn towards because they look cool, act cool, are funny, look cute etc. And then its fun to go and explore the character and put it further. Even if its just in a game. It remains good fun and can even give a person the temptation to play the game one more time to just chase that one other person, thus giving the player more time to spend in the game and giving him more game for his money in a sense.

but again.. I think its very difficult to find a good balance when you also have to think about the combat, quests, story line etc. I think its fine the way it is now to be honest, but I woulnt mind it if you could get to know the characters some more. :o

I quite liked Shandra Jerro/Elanee thing in nwn2. It had the tragedy, the gentle support from Elanee, the Gemmell-esque pre-battle drama and romantic last night under the stars...

I think I would have enjoyed it more if I were actually romaning said 'creepy druid who's stalked me since childhood.' You know, instead of the people I was actually flirting with.

Which was like a second kick in the crotch following Shandra's death. You know, the one where she dies and you are forced leave her corpse on the ground, even though you have a Cleric with 'Raise Dead' standing right there. And then her murderer gets forced into your group.

I really hated NWN2 near the latter half of that game.

Agreed, NWN2 had some really great stuff but a number of eye clenched shut moments.

Yes, I would like more sex. Can we approach it like adults, though. I'm getting kind of tired of how we can have sex in M-rated games but it's treated like we're naughty children... I'm tired of the nonsensical, puritanically immature relationship, we have with something so natural... I'm not asking for porn, by any means, just stop half assing it out of fear of the Moral Watchdog groups who can't accept it's part of LIFE!

It's almost disturbing that America is ok with ultra violence in video games but gets skittish at sex.

Exactly. It's ok to be splattered from head to toe in blood... but WHATEVER you do: do not express honest to goodness human sexuality!

Here's something to think about... why don't your companions ever fall for each other/get it on? Its always 'Everyone wants a piece of Hawke/Warden'. Doesn't Anders/Vengeance ever look at Fenris and think "Hmm... I feel like I need a bit of lyrium..."

Doesn't Fenris hook up with Isabela if you don't romance her?

WHAT??!! She already got my husband! She cant have Fenris as well!!! :P

Yes, as long as it is simply a part of the game and treated as such. When I see the bulk of it in commercials/ads, or used as the primary snippets in promos... then, it isn't as good. It shouldn't be center-stage, that is just hokey...and perhaps a bit creepy all things considered, for a mainstream game anyway.... but it is a natural part of life, so really, just make it a natural part of the game.

"I murder people, but please don't look at my bum" just sounds....off.

Is it necessary though? Of course not.  Still, I like romances as a method of expanding the story, not just in and of itself.

Eating is a natural part of life too, and they put that in Oblivion, and it ruined the game.

Speaking of natural parts of life, I noticed they included Merrill’s toilet in DA2! A first?

I think the operative was as long as it  "expanded the game"  or story... not sure eating does that -- unless it was one hell of a meal that took a lot of conversation and time to make.....  but....

I wouldn't mind more romance and sex in the games. Though I thought it was handled well in both DA:O and DA2. Just maybe another fade to black scene (or even another kiss) and more conversations with our companions would be nice. I agree that 3 years seemed a really long time between interactions with our friends and lover. It was a great Idea in theory to have a game stretched over years. In practice it just felt too strange, to me. Especially when in a romance, to lose years of Hawke's life. And it kind of felt like nothing happened during that time. The Fenris romance particularly seemed odd to me due to the time jump. Just my two cents worth :)

I do feel the sex scenes were in one line POOR because they were nothing special, not emotional, nothing just lets kiss end.

which I am not saying lets have porn in games i am just saying that it needs to feel more like they actually have feelings for each other and see a relationship grow better than DA2 showed which most the time their was no real progression on that part.

Which I am going to use ME series for an example of how to show romance better than DA series has so far which they built up, you could feel them getting to like each other and see that they are starting to care for you.

If think its actually the friend system on DA that is causing these issues because romance options can come available at virtually any time so as long your friend level is high enough (granted that is more realistic but you manage to blow people out pretty much by charging in with a 2 handed sword) which i know why they did it so that you actually have to purse friendships etc not talk to them nicely by saying pretty please.

but the system does not work with the romances due to it seperating the dialogue pretty much with the build up to it

I felt the romance in DA2 was cut short. after the years of flirting and building a romance with whoe ver. the actual romance scene was underwhelming. it was a kiss than fade to black. I dont want porn but something along the lines of what DAO had a nice romantic scene with music and the two lvoers in embrace. or we could ME1 and have naked women slithering aroud the pc with heartbeating music. nudeity is not nessasary but sencuality is key to any romance scene. also a good follow p would be nice. some banter with your LI wail walkign threw the city would be nice.

I agree, I think the way they handled the love interest in DAO was more interesting.  I hope if they continue on with the love interest they will go back to this format.  At least in DAO you could walk up and get a kiss and conversation.  You had to develop your relationships.  I'd like to see more in actually developing a relationship if they are going to continue on in this manner.  I want my characters to have a real life.  I thought they did an excellent job in showing our characters being more human with homes of their own and their own quest.  I did like this part of DA2 - if they would have developed the love interest and friendship/rivarly alittle more it would have been more satisfactory.

I wished in DAO they would have done more or we could have gotten DLC with our love interest.  Those who romanced Alistair and Zevran got short changed.

Seeing Anders stand on my balconey for three years with nothing more to say than I have a quest I need help with was immersion breaking for the love subplot. Posted ImagePosted Image
