Hello

I was just wondering what was the difference between a Sustained and passive ability?

1 is where you turn it on during a battle? and the other 1 is ALWAYS on but hidden so you cant tell its on?

Thanks

That's pretty much it. Passive abilities are always on (some of them act as buffs to specific activated/sustained powers rather than buffs directly to the characters, but you don't have to do anything to activate the passive abilities). Sustained abilities must be turned on (either manually or in tactics), and while they're active they'll reduce your available mana/stamina pool and possibly add fatigue or a regeneration penalty.

... or even eat away your mana constantly.
Cleansing Aura, for example.

Passive abilities on the other hand are really "for free" and have no negative effects on your health, mana, fatigue or whatever.

Passive abilities are always active, you might say. Where as sustained are only active when you make them so.

Sustained talents are like battle modes. You can turn them on or off and they cost stamina to run. Some sustained abilities, like Song of Courage from a bard or Rally from a warrior, will give buffs to the whole party. You should have little icons above your task bar that show what buffs you're getting from sustainable talents in your party.
