1. I haven't come across even one that is a total wuss.
2. They look like they can rip your face off AND eat it in one go. What's there not to like?

if you like the reapers because of their philisophical value then you should check into the Cult of Cthulhu. the reapers are basically based around Cthulhu, which is an actual god in an actual religion. seriously read up on it, that stuff will blow your mind and have you thinking "what if?"
Incorrect. Cthulhu is a fictional character created by H.P. Lovecraft, circa 1927, I believe.
actually H.P.L. actually accredits his work to a book that he cannot remember ( the necronomicon ) which explains the gruesome gods of horrible dimensions. the Necronomicon was written before the bible during the time of ancient babylonian myths by.... someone i cant remember actually but his book was called "Al Azif" and was mass produced and eventually burned by catholics. and yes it is an actual religion now. go to cultofcthulhu.net <-- it was recognized by the american government a few years ago.
The humble Tropers and Tropettes of TVTropes disagree with you.
believe and disbelieve what you want my friend, this is my belief and im not here to dispute it with you.

Thing is... this, unlike the usual debate about religion, is a FACT. Lovecraft made his stuff up, and your site is bunk since I saw NO references to actual sources stating your claims to be true. Sorry dude, but you ARE deluding yourself here.

Quarians - The accent, the mystery, and the culture all fascinate me. Sure, the ****ed up with the Geth, but I'm hoping to have a hand in fixing that mistake. Here's for Geth/Quarian peace in ME3, no?
Geth - The way they were presented in ME1, and the twist in ME2 with Legion. One of those O_O moments.
Turians - Because they're awesome cat-birds with smexy voices. Plus Garrus.
Krogan - There's something about a slowly dying race of brutal space-dinosaurs that is awesome. Wrex is a badass of ultimate proportion (and the only former squaddie in ME1 other than Tali/Garrus who are initially legitimately happy to see you [Liara was kind of meh at first, but LotSB made up for it]) , and Grunt is Spike from Cowboy Bebop.
Like:
Salarians - They all talk like William Shatner on crack, especially Mordin. This is awesome.
Drell - They're green, yo. That automatically earns them points.
Meh:
Asari - Don't care for them one way or the other.
Batarians - See above.
Argh!:
Vorcha - Unnecessary addition. Felt like they got thrown in because BioWare needed another cannon-fodder enemy to throw at us. Plus, those flamethrowers can go to hell.
Hanar - Interesting, but I cringe every time I accidentally repeat a dialogue option with them.
Elcor - Okay, they were amusing at first, but after a while I just get annoyed and stop talking to them.

maybe so maybe not, isnt that the point of a cult? believing in texts that might or might not be true? anyone can be a prophet and im my opinion, the Cult of Cthulhu is a more believable thing than the Church of Scientology. Just because he was from the last century doesnt mean that he isnt a prophet right? Lovecraft may have written this and people may believe that it is just a work of fiction but to others and possibly even him it could be real. he had dreams... didnt most prophets have dreams and write down what they saw? he also stated that one of the gods, azathoth, was a mass of nuclear destruction. how would he know about nuclear technology if the theory of nuclear fission wasnt even conceived yet? you tell me. in my OPINION, i believe that he believed it was real, and it is what i believe whether you chose to except it or not it is a REAL religion where you can worship the gods or the ideology.

To me the Geth are what make Mass Effect, well Mass Effect.
Really though I like most of the Aliens in Mass Effect, my only gripe is they are all probably a bit too human. But that's kind of unavoidable since they are in fact being designed and acted by humans anyways. Also it'd be difficult to communicate with species that don't actually speak. Although the Hanar and Elcor are good Alien concepts since they are actually different from us.
The Asari, Turians, Quarians, Salarians, Volus, Drell, Batarians all act more or less just like humans. Which frankly just would not be the case in reality. But then the game would be a lot less fun if Aliens didn't use guns too.

Just look at what Star Wars created... "Jedi" is now a religious belief as well.
Religion is about faith in something. Being Wiccan myself, I believe all of these deities are different manifestations of the same spiritual force, and it doesn't really matter how you believe. Different paths to the same center.
Anyway, what is it of my business what someone chooses to believe in? If someone wants to worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster, let them, so long as they find satisfaction in it.

1. Space dinosaurs=awesome.
2. Space Spartans= awesome.
3. The only race that when you give them the middle-finger, they perceive it as diplomacy. There's something really satisfying about that.
4. Wrex is the most fantastic character ever.

Geth: Probably the best "machine" race I've come across in a fiction. The Geth are just those sort of weird and alien things you can never really hope to comprehend. Which is logical since they are not organics and essentially only share our need for energy. They don't eat, sleep, or even feel. They just think and observe. Also in some respects they are something of a new species since they've only been truly sentient for 300 years.

Sounds like somebody should be playing Star Control. Or rather, Star Control II, at least.
I do feel like the Mass Effect aliens are not too bad with the acting like humans thing. They feel more alien than the aliens in most TV SciFi I can think of.

Indeed. As much as I pine for more *Alien* aliens, ME is much better at this than say Stargate, StarWars, or startrek.
Also Quarians are my favorite.

They are all extremely well designed. If you have the chance, pick up the 'Art of' book. So awesome.
If I had to pick a favorite...the Drell and Hanar. And Salarians. And Geth. Ooh, and the Turians.
...wait, that's almost all of them.

Turians: For their politics, culture and design.
Salarians: For their design, culture and very alien biology.
Volus: Poor little buggers stabilized the galactic economy and established the credit and what do they get? A bloody shared embassy.
These guys need some love. (plus they remind me of cute little, fat, Darth Vaders)
Honestly the only race I don't like is the asari.

Elcor - having developed on a high gravity world gives them a very cautious and conservative culture, extremely static which takes generations to change
Asari - Being long lived gives them a larger scale view of events, with less focus on immediacy. The ability to merge nervous systems (and mate) with other forms of galactic life give them a culture focus on unifying diplomacy
Being just two examples. It was also a cool touch to give drell eidetic memory, forcing Thane to relive his kills which means he struggles to distance himself from them (as he believes he should)
All in all though, I have to like the Salarians. Commander Kirrahe is my favourite NPC so far, and Mordin is the most developed squadmate they have featured (who also shares a moral outlook similar to my Shepard)

Salarians - for their precise speech patterns and cold blooded nature
Quarians - for their obvious Russian accent and their "underdog" status
Asari - well... they're the only nice chicks in the games I've seen so far (other than the human chicks)
Krogans - dumb, but still deadly and effective
