How to use the files from Dragon Age Origins and Awakening discs to minimize Steam "Ultimate Edition" download?

I have extracted all the RAR files to "D:\\Steam Games\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age ultimate edition" while maintaining the original directory structure and then I opened up Steam and told it to verify the game cache for the "Ultimate Edition" of Dragon Age, it only validated 500~MB of data.

How do I get it to recognize the other 18GB? Is the folder structure different for the Ultimate Edition? Are the files encrypted differently?

Do note that I did not install Steam to the default location so don't tell me I should copy the files to "C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age ultimate edition" or anything silly like that. Also I bought the Ultimate Edition (On the 50% off special) as it was the cheapest way to get the 6 DLC's I haven't yet gotten/played.

Please help as I really want to avoid the bulk of the 24~GB download D:

IIRC, while Windows treats the original releases and UE as the same program (which is why people run into major issues when they don't uninstall the old stuff first), Steam treats it as a new, separate program when it installs it. That's the extent of my experience with Steam... although I seem to recall that some people need to change a registry key to get Awakening (UE version) to work via Steam. There's a link or two on the subject in the Solutions Roundup pinned to my sig, below.

Not sure if that's a direct answer, but it may be a clue to help you experiment.

Nevermind I just did a full, proper install of Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening via my retail discs, updated to v1.04 then used Regedit to change the games CD Key to the Ultimate Edition one.

Game works fine and is downloading all the DLC for me! This of course means I'm using a retail copy and not the Steam enabled version thus I lose all the Steam bonuses like Steam achievements. I can still use the overlay however by simply adding the game as a non-steam game.

A worthy sacrifice to save me downloading 18GB of data.

Note: The installer only recognizes the normal Origins CD Key and not the Ultimate Edition one preventing me from installing with the Ultimate Edition CD key, hence my need to use Regedit.exe after installation is complete to replace the normal CD Key with the Ultimate one ;)

New question, how do I acquire the bonus cotent such as the music tracks and wallpaper etc.? With Steam I would have to download the entire 24GB's of data to get them, with my method I have the game and all DLC but no bonus content and the http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php doesn't offer a download link for it :(

(Yes ultimate edition and the DLC are registered to my Bioware account.)

Hmmm... I don't know how it's to be done. I didn't have the original collector's version, and Ultimate Edition does not come with the wallpaper/soundtrack.

Some of the deluxe edition bonus items can be manually downloaded. Consult this page, towards the bottom:

Well while the Ultimate Edition was downloading (before I gave up on the idea of downloading 24GB) it created 2 folders in the games folder, one was Soundtrack and the other was Wallpaper. The Soundtrack folder already contained one audio track file downloaded as did the Wallpaper folder containing 1 wallpaper.

So they must be included either intentionally or unintentionally. The install file that Steam would run once everything was downloaded, included mention of an uninstaller file that specifically removes the bonus content should you decide to delete the game files via Steam.

Must be a Steam thing, then. It's not included with the EADM version.
