So like, I am wondering if once you apparantly "initiate" a romance with one of your companions, does that effectively null any romance triggers past that if you flirt with other members -before- the Act 2 romance scene in Hawkes house?

I have seen posts before about people "hooking up" with Isabela for fun and never solidifying a romance with her, then completeing a romance with someone else, but...At the moment I'm wondering because I'm having some issues around this.

I'm in my first Playthrough of DAII and early on in Act 1 I made one flirty comment to Isabela for the rep boost. I am in Act 2 now and every chance I got I have appeased Anders, selected all his available flirt responses when they came up, and did his "relationship quest" in Act 2. Dissent I believe its called?  The only thing at this point so far I have not done is I have not gotten his gift yet.

Despite this though, on a night visit to Hawke's home, I had the romance cutscene with Isabela.  I at first accepted and then told her after that I did not want an actual relationship (I selected of course not when she asked if I was bringing feelings into this) and did some more quests, visiting the home at night in hopes of getting Anders cutscene.  After several tries and it not triggering, I went back to my save just before the Isabela cutscene and shot her down completely in hopes maybe that was what was causing the Anders scene to not come up, and several quests later, it still hasn't triggered.

So what I am curious is, even though I only flirted once with Isabela and have done everything I can to romance Anders, am I not going to get the Anders scene no matter what because of the Isabela trigger? Or will it not trigger until I have given him his act 2 gift? I had given Isabela hers prior to the cutscene so I'm not sure if the gift is a requirement of getting the cutscene.  Also, if it is possible to still get Anders, is shooting down Isabela going to affect that and do I need to go back to my save before the cutscene and just sleep with her?

By the way, I am playing a Female Hawke on 360 version, if that helps any.

Thanks in advance <3.  Really hoping to figure this out because I want Anders romance and I don't want to have to completely restart from scratch and re-do everything just for that romance. (I want to go Templar side on my second playthrough and I know you can't really romance Anders in that playthrough :( )

Have you had his "Questioning Belief" quest yet? Where he kisses you if you choose the heart icons? You need to do that before he stops by your estate for some Hawke lovin'.

I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong, but in order to get Anders' scene, you have to first do his Questioning Beliefs quest/conversation, which becomes available after Dissent, so long as you have enough friendship or rivalry. Sometimes the quest marker doesn't seem to pop up on him; have you tried visiting his clinic and clicking on him?

To the best of my knowledge, you have to flirt with him during that conversation and get the kiss (and it's a shame, really, as the conversation is excellent if you don't flirt with him, but as far as I'm aware, the opportunity is forever lost if you don't take it here - and now I'm hoping to be corrected if I'm wrong), and then he'll turn up the next time you visit your estate. The gift has nothing to do with it.

As long as your relationship score with him is high enough (on either path) and you've flirted with him before, you should get flirty options during his post-Dissent Questioning Beliefs. I myself have had no trouble seducing both Isabela and Fenris before moving onto Anders - even without a choosing a heartbreak option with them those two won't have any effect on his romance. It doesn't sound like you've flirted with Merrill at all: her relationship is the only one with the power to override Anders'.

Yeah I've left Merrill completely alone in the romance department since I've gotten high enough friendship points with her playing a mage playthrough. I plan on romancing her in another playthrough. Good to know she'll over-ride any flirting I do with any of my other members.

Also, thank you very much guys! I had forgotten/didn't know about the Questioning Belief's bit to trigger the scene. I originally mistook it for the mini cutscene just after getting into Act 2. Went back to darktown with him in my group and got the little cutscene then got the romance scene at the home.

Thank you guys <3. I was so worried I wasn't going to get him cause of Isabela. I wouldn't of minded too terribly bad if I was stuck with her, but I really wanted Anders for this playthrough. Got it now :)
