Anyone else thinking about playing a healer/herbalist for the first time? I think it will be the best PC class.

Never played a healer class before, but I'm thinking about it this time. Unlike BG2 where there were plenty of spellcasters and a lack of good fighters (if you were a mage), the opposite looks true in DAO.

It was interesting to note that Team Spain couldn't move past a certain boss because they picked no dedicated healer, but they also said that due to the nature of the event, exploring things like herbalism wasn't a factor.

For the first time in a non-Gothic/Risen RPG, it looks like herbalism will be near-essential. That's great. I've never played a healer class in any RPG because of the probability you'll get separated from your group and be screwed in combat; but I am now after hearing about the difficulty if you don't have one. If Morrigan is an offensive mage, and there are plenty of front-line fighters, then playing a healing class will be the best fit for the PC in the game. :)

It is tough without one, and even tougher if you don't have some potions to replenish your mana and/or your health. I had a heck of a time against a certain boss (team Canada) not just because of my poor tactics, but also due to the lack of the above mentioned elements when I was battling that one.

Oh cool, we have someone who played it here.

So... do you think having a healer/herbalist PC would have helped you a lot? Basically, a good strategy in BG 2 was to pick a class not well represented in the game, and then any party would be a powerhouse due to good balance. It sounds DAO is that way with a white mage herbalist PC. Agree? Did you find that?

There seems to be plently, or at least enough, of every class. Bioware RPGs are probably the best ones to play a healer in with the way the group works, because your micromanaging your whole party anyway.

How did Canada do btw? I didnt watch the event for fear of spoilers.

I'm probably going to play an all purpose mage my first time through, a little damage, a little healing, and just kind of move in whichever direction my party is lacking later on. I imagine I'll have a good bit of healing though because I don't really like Wynne.

I would like to leave the game running real time as much as possible. So micromanaging myself at the back with a pair of tanks up front on auto script sounds like a good idea to try.

I played a healer during my WoW stint. Will be making my PC a healer as well. I just enjoy that aspect, plus you can switch through your characters anyway so I can tank or dps anytime i would like. I feel better though making my main a healer so that I can blame myself if/when my party wipes.

Your PC dosen't need to be one as long as someone in your party is. But yes, I think it's going to be a must for anyone not playing on normal, or easy.
