No more release day purchases.

I hear so many things floating around that make me uneasy, and doubtful that DA 3 would fit my preferences. I know they are simply rumours, and even if the devs say something right now, that doesn't mean it's written in stone, but it is bothersome nonetheless.

These are very important to me and are what I count as "vital" to me in a RPG:

More companion interaction, especially the romances,
Companion customization
Choices and decisions that matter
No more gofer girl, please. I don't care what story line is picked, but make the PC "mine".
Make sense in the story line (mageHawke *sob*). At least a little, I know you can do it.

The more I read around the forums the more I hear that most of the above will stay as they are. If that is so, then I will part ways with Bioware. I will be sad, but it must be done. They certainly have every right to develop a story upon *their* visions, but I have every right to spend *my* money the way I want to.

I know they don't care about my measly few euros, but I do. However, I will be very sad should that happen.

I totally agree.
If they do continue to stay this way then I can only hope that some other dev studio will pick up the demand that EA/BW bailed on.

And oh, I live in USA so it's dollars for me.:D

Sweden, so I pay in SEK. And I do agree with Sabriana's post.

Only if it has a voiced protagonist and the ME dialogue wheel.

<hurls troll-bait into the pit>

No, j/k. Much as I want a voiced protagonist, I could live without that. Nothing will probably keep me from buying DA3 just out of curiosity. As much as DA2 wasn't perfect is was good enough when looking at the cesspool of other games out there and I did appreciate the faster combat and some of its "innovations" in terms of actually making the class specializations worth using and not pure filler even if some corner cutting went too far (i.e. no customizable companion gear, not enough dynamic change in Kirkwall, etc.). It certainly wasn't nearly the disappointment that FO:NV was, though one day they MIGHT, MIGHT fix that game.

So, here we discuss how good should DA3 need to be in order for you to buy it.

I personally will not buy DA3 on release like I did with DA2.
DA2 dissapointed me greatly with it's uninteresting characters, lack of replay value and it's lack of dialogue options.

I will not buy the thing until I hear some reviews from somebody who has played the game at least 2 times through.
Based on that I will decide wether or not I shall pay the full price or wait for it to be sold at a discount on steam.

What does DA3 need to have in order for you to pay full price for it?
(ok this'll probably be a rant thread :P)

I'll buy it as I'm pretty sure Bioware will respond to the hits they've taken over the last month. There's a lot to be said about DA II that were improvements over DA:O and visa versa. But I, like others, may wait before pre-ordering just in case.

If Laidlaw is in charge I severely doubt it.

If anyone else is I could consider it.

Only if it's more like DA2 than DAO/BG/NWN/trope festival.

@OP

I wanted originally to preorder DA2 because I like DAO, but I forgot to and when I looked again I couldn't preorder anymore. I then resisted buying DA2 when it came out because I had a bad feeling about it judging from comments on the demo and I was rewarded with the thought of not rewarding Bio's lackluster and rather cheap attempt at an action rpg which had about as much in common with its predecessor as Meatballs does with Gone With the Wind.

Turns out I just missed the slap in the face from mr. Laidlaw and mr. Gaider dished out to Bio's former core fans. And to people liking good, well thought and finished games in general.

Now I will not purchase any Bioware product until I've read reviews AND user reviews. Then, only after some very glowing and more-or-less honest reviews, maybe. But I somehow doubt DA3 will get made. After all, who care about DA3 when you have SW:TOR? And in this case, thanksfully so, better no sequal then something half-hearted as DA2.

Actually, if they decide to make the entire game just big pile of dung without purchasing all of the DLC then I will not buy the damn thing at all.

If the stop up, turn around and go back to their roots, and improve on Origins gameplay, and I mean improve on what's not perfect, not crank it to the other extreme like it's done with DA2.

Some points
- Realistically propotios on animations
- Balance, like in origins, not enemies being dumb fools not able to hold a weapon right like in DA2.
- An epic journey
- Allocate at least 3 years for developement, we can wait.

DA2 might have been a quick profit, but if no actions are taken, the future profits might be second to none and the forum will be even more hateful than it is today.

Also, a toolset or an announcement promising it at launch would be nice. It makes the game last longer and people will still be playing it when DLC arrives, not like now, when the files are gathering dust on many of our hard-drives on launch of first DLC.

Canada. And I agree with Sabrina's post. Well, I will get ME3, but not on launch day. I wil wait awhile. I have Zero interest in TOR. I like Star Wars, but imho, its kind of lame to make it a MMORPG. I'd rather play Guild Wars.

I don't care what people say,I love Dragon Age 2 and I love Dragon Age games.I would definitely put my money on Dragon Age 3.

If the Warden returns in a significant way, then yes. I want continuity between games. I don't care for the concept of a new protagonist in every game, especially one who eventually vanishes into the night under mysterious circumstances. I think it's a maladroit and clichéd reset button that works for action RPGs like the Elder Scrolls but fails hard with a story-based RPG like Dragon Age. If the protagonist of Dragon Age 3 is treated the same as Hawke and the Warden, then I'm giving up on the franchise.

That's only my opinion, of course.

I won't buy DA3. Period. I hated DA:O and I hate DA2 now even more than DA:O. I find the entire chantry/templar vs. mages/apostates completely stupid and they have moved away from the most interesting concept about DA:O party interaction and REAL friendship/rivalry building.

Won't buy it.

Won't aknowledge it's existence.

That is, unless they, like Mr Laidlaw said, turn 180 degrees and aknowledge their mistake.

I am willing to overlook lacklustre combat mechanics, team specialization and whatever bits and bolts that keep the game part of an RPG together as long as it tells an interesting story with interesting characters.

While DA2 has decent combat and passable customization I was frankly just bored throughout. All the elements of this game's purported story are put together in a way that barely makes it cohesive and much less one I want to continue exploring.

In short: Probably not.
