Given that I enjoyed both DA:O and DA:2 emmensely yes I'll be pre-ordering DA:3 the moment it's announced. Then again I am a fan of the series, and love the game world, so I'm heavily baised towards the Dragon Age games. I also didn't have any issues with DA:2. I read the prelease info, tried the demo, decided that the differences between DA:2 and DA:O/Awakenings didn't matter to me, and enjoyed DA:2 for the game it was.

So, here we discuss how good should DA3 need to be in order for you to buy it.

I personally will not buy DA3 on release like I did with DA2.
DA2 dissapointed me greatly with it's uninteresting characters, lack of replay value and it's lack of dialogue options.

I will not buy the thing until I hear some reviews from somebody who has played the game at least 2 times through.
Based on that I will decide wether or not I shall pay the full price or wait for it to be sold at a discount on steam.

What does DA3 need to have in order for you to pay full price for it?
(ok this'll probably be a rant thread :P)

True DA:O fans will pre-order it then cancel the pre-order the day before release. Just to **** up their sales projections.

This. Also, I'm looking forward to ME3 more than any other game in my lifetime, besides maybe ME2.

This thread is proof why Bioware will get away with making crappy games in the future. Way too many fanboys ready to lick their feet as soon as another game is announced.

It must be frustrating to see all those people having the wrong kind of fun.

The wrong kind of fun would land me in jail.

But hey, nice people enjoy it, its not my cup of tea and if they continue down this path, I won't be a customer. I'm sure there are tons of people who agree with me.

The trick is not doing it in public.

Free day one dlc, a clear emphasis on the rpg roots of the series, and a compelling story based on DAO and DA2.

It will help if ME3 turn out well.

I will, hopefully bug-free. I thought DA2 was great (minus the bugs).

Nope. I'm sure I'll play it after a friend lends it to me to try, but I won't spend a penny on it.

I'll wait until one of my mates buy it. Then I'll test it and if it's good/great I'll buy it straight away. If it's alright like DA2 then i'll wait till the price drops. Definately not going to pre-order this time.

For me, Mass Effect 3 is the last BioWare game Im buying for sure, as a pre-order and probably Collector Edition ( if there will be one) twice ( as an Xbox and PC version). Dragon Age Origins wasn't the best RPG game, but it was good enough to give me some fun and, thatnks to toolset and mods, I played it more than once. Dragon Age 2 was for me the worst BioWare game ever, and after two playthrought I deleted it from my HD. So no, as long as it will be made as Laidlaw's vision of game, with one year EA cycle I will not buy any game from DA IP.

Have to do EVERYTHING differently than DA2.
If Bioware says "It will be as awesome as DA2, with more blood!" then its no sale for me

If a demo for DA3 is released i will check that first. If no demo i will decide by checking out reviews, screenshots, etc.
But i have strong feeling DA3 will be a much. much better game than DA2. At least it can't be any worse. Can it?

God I hope so.

I can't believe that I have to wait yet another two years at least until it can be released. That'll make it four years since the last Dragon Age game came out.

Yeah it can, Misty. They (whoever "they" are) can decide to go even harder after this elusive mainstream. I might end up with the "R" barely hanging on to the "PG" for dear life and barely breathing.

I think DA3 will be a much better game, but I also think that it will be a very good version of DA2, not a return to Origins.  I'm okay with that, myself, but I'm not sure the old guard will be satisfied with it.  I'm envisioning reviews that say, "This is the game DA2 should have been."

I'll probably pre-order it (I honestly enjoyed Dragon Age II and make no apologies for it).
