DA2 is beyond hope as far as I'm concerned, best to milk it will cheap appearence packs and move on.Whether the taint has spread to the franchise name as a whole, that will probably become apparent in a few months.
No amount of DLC can fix this mess imo.

I saved my friend the other day. He was visiting and praising Dragon Age Origins, which he bought only recently, and like me he absolutely loved the game. He knew I had DA2 and that I hate it, but to do him a favor and save him from any nagging thoughts on "what if I would like DA2 anyway" I showed him the gameplay.
After having finished a standard mission in five-ten minutes, with some parachuting enemies dropping into the battle from nowhere, and the combat moving at a pace twice as fast as it's humanly possible to move, while clicking the "awesome" button to make the enemies explode ever so nicely. I noticed is face growing pale. Then after having told him that I knew that area very well, because I had visited it several times before littered with other kinds of enemies, and after I'd told him that it is not possible to speak with companions when I want to, AND after showing him the very populated city of kirkwall, and telling him a bit about the -bad- story, I knew I had saved him from making the same mistake as the one I did - Which is buying this game.
As I told him: "As far as I am concerned, DA2 never happened, it doesn't exist, it has no connection to Dragon Age Origins, its a mistake, and it should be forgotten asap."
Now, what I dont get is that on these forums, where I am far from the only one feeling this way about this faliure of a game, I see people, who have the same gripes as I do, WAITING for a DLC to come out. Are we really that stupid as consumers? We buy something we end up hating because we think its a bad product, and still -some- of us wants to invest more money into this thing?
I wonder why? Is it a hope that a DLC will fix all the things that is wrong with DA2? That Bioware will miraculously turn this game 180 degrees and suddently make it good? The chances of that is like buying an old wreck of a car and think that if you put on new tires, you'll get a hot rod.
I dont get it, why would you buy a DLC if you dont like this game? (for those of you who like the game, fair enough if you want to spend money) Why support a company with more money if you think they've failed?
EDIT: Funny how many of the comments given below sounds like they were in the room with my friend and I by telling me that I did not give my friend a fair chance to make his own oppinion. Well, to give all the troubled minds some ease, let me state that my friend is perfectly able of forming his own oppinion, and the reason why I did not describe in precise detail how we explored the game together, going through its good and bad sides, is because this topic is really not about this. Let me also state that nor my friend, any animals, or anything living for that matter, were harmed during the demonstration.

I know I would. Just because people are different. Some people find entertainment in a game to their own standard or desire. I care a lot about the storyline, romances, gameplay and customization.
But to someone who can't play well-and yes I met someone like that-they would appreciate the A button mashing.
Some don't care a fig for the romance but want a great story.
To each his own. And opinions are just that.
Personally, I would have said, "There are some things that lacking and it's annoying to some degree but I don't know, you might like it better than me."
Your friend may just have missed out on a good romance with Izzy. *shrugs*

showing a friend everything bad about a game and never mentioning the good sides of it, only because you dislike the game is pretty stupid yes.
ah that wasn't the question. i go and show my friends now every twist and boring scene of da:o, wandering hours through the deep roads, fighting dark spawn in a nearly slow motion gameplay and tell them that the only real choices you make result in who fights with you in the end, which is also totally meaningless, because their armies are too weak nevertheless. or tell them about the (in my opinion) totally crappy characters (except morrigan and shale). why should i tell them anything good about the game?
to make this clear. i really like da:o and it's a great game and yes it is better then da2 (although i enjoyed da2 more) but showing someone all the bad things about anything is allways stupid. da2 has it's good sides.
companions are far more interesting (+the way better friendship/rivalry system), the combat is more fun (if you want tactics play on hard or nightmare) and you can form a totally different hawke everytime you play it. hawke is a much better character then the random warden. there are choices in the game which matter (end of act1, end of act2, nearly every companionquest in act3 (except anders one he will allways .. you know) and some more in act1)) it also matters how often you answer in an aggressive way or good one, resulting in a different hawke.
If you showed your friend footage of your inability to understand the mechanics of DAO and play in "slow motion," then I would say that you would have failed your friend. There are an incredible amount of choices in DAO that had impact on more than just who faught with you at the end. I'm guessing you played through the game once and due to your frustration and the lack of any coherent thought process, you gave up and didn't try to think critically.
The overall design of the mechanics in DA2 is just ridiculous. You can put a red ribbon on a piece of ****, but it is still a piece of ****.

I for one am skeptical, i don´t think the dlc will be able to fix all that i don´t like about DA2, but i am curious to see what direction bioware is going to take with the next dlcs. I will wait and read reviews before buying any dlc, but mostly what i am interested is to see what bioware is going to do about their "not so sucessful" game. I believe in second chances, and i do like the dragon age franchise, if bioware make something that i consider an improvement over DA2 and in the right direction, i will probably buy it, to show my support to that new direction.
What is very silly is to claim: "i loved DAO, but now they made DA2 horrible so i am done with the series". With that attitude of course that the series are done, i am not defending purchasing things that you don´t like, but if you want to see any new dragon age content, you better give bioware a second chance (you don´t need to purchase on first day!) or your precious DAO will be the last game you will be seeing. All i see is hate, funny how someone who claims to love origins refuses to even try to let bioware make up for DA2.

I feel sorry for your friend. He missed out on a game he might enjoy just because you hate it. Maybe your friend is stupid for not making up his own opinion.
So you never watch a review of a product before you buy it? I made this mistake with DA2. Never again.
Do you enjoy being ignorant? I know I don't.

On the stupid question yes i was stupid but no more. I will not spend another penny on this game unless it’s fixed for free like other game companies do.
I am playing Civ V and it was a terrible game when first out but now after about 5 patches and some changes to the game it’s playable.

EEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW .. Yeah i agree with you!!

But alas, we who do not fully like DA 2 are in the minority and do not count, as far as some are concerned we're just haters who are afraid of change.

Don't you mean "are you really that stupid as consumers"? You're not waiting for a DLC yourself.
Or I guess you mean "are some of us that stupid as consumers." In which case the answer is clearly yes. Some of the people who buy anything are idiots.

I'm sure that wasn't played up for melodrama in the slightest.
What does he think we are? Stupid? *rereads the thread title* Oh nevermind.

Call it a free 'Enhanced Edition', if you will.
That and the updated toolset thingy.
Will I buy DLC for DA2? Nope. Not until they 'fix' it and release the updated toolset.

The worst part are the unbalanced classes but I don't think The Witcher 2 will be better. The first one sucked and the second one looks more "actiony" and seems to have less RPG elements than the first. So I'll avoid that and I'll avoid DA3. BW have already stated how they aren't going back to Origins.
http://t2.gstatic.co...8U36OPv2zw901hw
BioWare never stated ANYTHING about the creative direction of DA3. Shush and stop spreading false information.
