I suspect a lot of the people who assume the difficulty has been "dumbed down" and gripe about enemies exploding ever so nicely probably haven't touched a difficulty outside Normal mode. It's more difficult on Nightmare than Origins ever was.
if you suspect that for "a lot of people" a dumb game is the same as a game with easy encounters than you are at best half right.
dumb is when the big fantasy-medieval quests usually looks like:
-hawk getting a letter
-hawk going to the big pointy arrow on the map
-hawk smash tiny waves of people
-hawk profit
and as the state of DLC, i gues it is testing the water. bioware is well aware how people took the game, big content dlc costs money to produce and has to sell x-times to be profitable.
question is now if x+ people will buy that dlc. an itempack on the other hand...fast to make not very expensive and can test the waters for you as of how many people are going to buy DLC.
(if they are smart they know that not everyone who wants (content) dlc buys items but will have figures from origins or me2 or so, so that they can extrapolate that)

Did you read the OP or did you actually just reply to the title? Because if you're referring to the OP then you're stupid for other reasons than liking DA2.Mr.House wrote...

I'm not getting that attitude. Just appears the OP is being attacked for showing his friend the game and "making him not like it", while the question being asked in the OP is ignored. (about people who didn't like DA2 or hope that DLC will fix DA2 are waiting on that and willing to purchase it in hopes of it making DA2 better than it is.)Mr.House wrote...

Wanting a DLC like that isn't illogical. Expecting one to get made, though.....

You really need to work on your reading comprehension. Let me help: I was saying the OP was being overly melodramatic in his post, and that his friend's skin did not in any way pale as he watched his friend play. And that we'd have to be stupid to believe such pallor really happened. The title of the thread seems to support that. Clearer?
And its possible if a DAO fan were playing the game on his own, He might just be enjoying the story, characters or some other aspect so much that other negative aspects wouldn't be so 'world ending' to him. Stranger things have happened.
But you also need to work on your argumentative skills if the best you can do to insult them is to compare them to a perfectly nice poster. Sir you wound me. Truly.
Stop flashing your logic around this forum!

Lol, I don't really think you gave your friend a fair impression of Dragon Age 2. Maybe you should've let him borrow your copy and see what he makes of it on his own.
But I do agree with the idea that DLC will not fix a game that is fundamentally flawed. Of course, not all people think that Dragon Age 2 is fundamentally flawed, only some people think that. Some think that it's only superficially flawed and others even think it to be a superlative game. Obviously those people will be looking forward to the DLC more.
If you think that Dragon Age 2 is a failure, you could still be interested in the DLC purely because of the story. You may hate the gameplay and it's flaws but love the characters and want to know their future and how your choices have impacted them, for example. It's the reason why I went through 4-5 playthroughs of Alpha Protocol. Steven Heck? Heck Yeah!
So really, if people enjoyed the story and tale of Dragon Age 2 even if it's flawed, there's no reason why they wouldn't eagerly await DLC that continues that story.
Then there's also the curiosity element.

On to the actual question, I have no intention of buying the item pack DLC. I have no interest in more items, and besides, it looks WAY overpriced.
Whether or not I'll buy story DLC depends on what people say about it first.

Personally? I won't buy DLC until it's out for a while and/or there are substantial player reviews. This game has taught me to be far more cautious. However, that's what I'll be. I'm not going to give up entirely on the series. I loved Dragon Age Origins and I know that the development team is capable. This time I'm just not going to rush into it on faith alone.

I dont get it, why would you buy a DLC if you dont like this game? (for those of you who like the game, fair enough if you want to spend money) Why support a company with more money if you think they've failed?
I don't get it either. I uninstalled DA2 a while ago, and I wouldn't spend another dime on it, no matter what kind of promises were made. I'm only still (occasionally) voicing my displeasure here on the forum in the vain hope that the devs will listen with regards to DA3. I guess those who didn't like the game but want story DLC are hoping that somehow that will fix what they consider wrong with the game. I can't see that happening, personally.
Pretty much. A lot of people are not waiting for DLC, they're waiting for DA3 - hoping it'll be good like DA:O again.

Drastic changes in the direction of a game series isn't always bad I think. Call of Duty shifting from ww2 to a modern setting was an extremely sucessful move. It was the 6th and 7th games that kinda dumbed the franchise down to a 10 year old console player's wet dream

You are contributing to the problem future games will face, you are betraying your fellow gamers and you're betraying yourself.
It is up to each of us to take a step back and resist the temptation to buy this just because it's Dragon Age and think about what we could have gotten if this was a proper sequel and full game.

As for dlc, I dont buy item packs anymore... Only the absence of a toolset justify people are buying them... As for quest dlc, I await to see what people think... (or maybe those will be reserved for console as in dead space 2 ^^ )
Guess i will wait and see for DA3 when it comes...
