I have two weekdays where I have no classes, so I pretty much play untill my contacts dry up on those days. The three other weekdays I work my f*in @## off at school all day. Then over the weekend I spend all my time studying or partyin.

It's a pretty good balance of time ;)

I loathe the day I have a full time job and kids to keep me from playing games. F* the real world!

My first playthrough was 60 hours, finished it this monday. I didn't rush through, definitely took my time. But I do contract work of various kinds and right now I don't have anything that takes more than a couple hours a day.

Took me 68 hours to finish my first game as a mage. I tried to do everything and sure I missed a quest here or there though I did finish my quest log before the final battle.

I'm now just working on each origin (stopping after it's over) just to determine who I want to play next. I think I'm enjoying rogue more than warrior, but we'll see. I have a dagger rogue I'm going to shelf until there's a patch that fixes dagger damage. My bow rogue is going ranger/bard, so I think that's my next project.

The story is amazing. I got this game on day 1. I play from around 8:30 pm until 12 am. I work, have a 2 year old daughter, and a wife. So, that's pretty much where my time went after hours. Occasionally, I pulled a longer night, but it wasn't too often.

My husband works out of town this month and kid goes to bed early. I am really starting to be sleep deprived BUT I think it is helping with the immersion.

I don't go to school or have a job at the moment, so I'm mostly staying home, my friends go to school to 4-5 PM every day so I don't have much to do on the weekdays when I wake up, so it's dragon age all the way. My first playthrough took 80~ hours of actual gameplay, and I missed alot of the sidequests, in total over all of my characters I've probably played 120~ hours, It's nothing compared to the time I used to spend in WoW a few years back though, but I play Dragon Age a lot, and I totally love it.

On my first play through I put in some stupid hours just because I was so enthralled by the story and characters.  Most of the time it wasn't intentional either. I just thought I will do this quest and then its off to bed. Only to find sometime later that it was 4am and I my neck / back were aching a lot.

I have calmed down a little on my second play through and make sure I get to bed early ... so its 2 am instead. Lets have a cheer for energy drinks and coffee, helping gamers survive the day so that they can play through the night

Im 40+, with wife and kids. I bought the game the day it came out and Im only level 8 with 20+ hours under my belt. I play an hour to 2 hours everyday. Savouring every moment in the game and doing my best to make it last. A Game like this only comes out every decade or so. Dont be in a hurry, Enjoy!

I did about everything I could possibly do, read everything I could find except for the Religion codex stuff which was mostly boring talentless poetry, even though most of the codex entries just tell you things you already know. I completed in that fashion in 49 hours and some minutes. I cut some corners a bit on the start because I created and deleted several characters before I settled on one, and so had previously read through a lot of the early chit chat which does not change, and skipped through a lot of it. The longest I played on one of those was 16 hours. So I guess do the math. If you are not skipping text and reading most things that get put in front of you, you should be pretty much guaranteed to be over 50 hours.

One of the devs said in a pre-release interview that he'd done a playthrough of 120 hours, which is 100% impossible unless he sat there with the character on screen for hours on end. The same applies to anyone who says it took them 80 hours on a single play through.

Probably what was meant is that they messed around with a few other alternatives before settling in with a particular character, and are therefore adding all the play time from all their characters together, which would explain the insane numbers in the previews.

Somewhere I saw that the play time was at around 50 hours, I don't remember where, but that was clearly the most accurate. Still, by leaps and bounds the largest game Bioware has released so far.

Anyone else feel it was really well paced too? You'd think with the level slowdown later on you'd feel disappointed but it never seemed to bother me.

Just finished my 3rd character; lvls 20, 22, and now, 23 (barely).  I put in at least 16+ hrs a day for the first 4 days I had this.

I'm in between projects (work), and have a few weeks off, so trying to put in as much time as possible cause I know it's gonna end soon and back to the grind!

;)

ps.  yes, I finished nearly all side-quests (got an achievement) which I guess is obvious if I was able to get lvl 23 LOL!

How ironic...back to the grind... Posted Image

I haven't sunk my teeth into a proper game since I quit WoW, so about 2 years. I've treated myself with weekends to this game. I've done 40 hours in 2 weeks, which is quite hardcore for a normal game-player but probably a low amount compared to most here.

I'm level 18 and near the end. I've done all the side quests I want to - none of that bring X amount of Y to Z crap.

Think how many people there are in the world. There's going to be people who don't have to work, those on benefits, those without friends/girlfriends. These are the people who can devote 50 hour weeks to this game.

There's always time to be had if you are willing to make time, it just depends on your priorities. If you work or do similar work type activities for most of the day, then yeah you probably won't have much time, why did you buy it if you don't have the time to enjoy it? It's no different from buying golf clubs you'll never make time to use, or magazines that you won't read, etc, etc.

If you want to make use of the game, you have to either already have the free time, or be willing to cut back on some other activities in order to make time. If you can't or won't, then you are probably wasting your time and money trying, though you certainly will be missing out an pretty amazing experience.

IMHO.

I think you need to play this for longer than 1 or 2 hours at a time to really get engrossed. Which is why I skip playing it weeknights and just use the weekend for it. I played it last night for 2 hours but couldn't get into it as I knew I'd be in bed before long.

I think you're a little off. I"m at 48 hours and my completion percentage is 48%. I read everything and enjoy the game. I think 70 to 80 hours is a good estimate for playing this game like an average person.

Hey, I am an oldtimer with a family, job and all that stuff. Even if that was not the case, I like to take my time and enjoy the whole experience. I do not personally understand that after waiting patiently for DA to come out for nearly 5 years, you would want to rush through it in a few hours. I even read both novels to further heighten the total enjoyment. Not that there is anything wrong with rushing through, just not my cup of tea. I am also not much of a new character, "replay" type of guy. Maybe I am missing something, but once through for many months is enough for me. I want to slowly invoke the story and soak it all in. Hey, I put in over 200 hours with Oblivion a year or so ago, and still enjoy going back from time to time even though there is really nothing left for my character to do. I am amazed when I read that some gamers can finish DA within a few days. I applaud their skill and dedication. However, I guess when you are 51 like me with a full plate at home, you can only steal an hour to two at night to play. I am too tired beyond that. Warrick13, I sympathize, but I fully relate. Keep it slow, and enjoy the journey partner.

I thinks also that W1slicer_carolina is off. I settled on one origin before starting the game and played it through. Now I started a 2nd one. The game took me 90h but I only made 75% of the sidequests. I didn't read every line of the codex. I didn't leave the comp on with the character (except maybe to go to the loo now and then).

I just enjoyed the game, tried to open every chest, went to every nook and corner of every area. Revisited all the backalleys in Denerim to see if I didn't miss something. At times I did stop and just look at the beauty of the design in the areas.

I spent a lot of time in camp though, chatting with NPCs, switching their gear around (tried to keep them geared up), giving gifts, selling off things and so on.

Not everyone is rushing through it. I bought the Pre-Order, and i'm still on my first playthrough, about 40 hours into it, and only 47% of the world explored so far. Enjoying every minute of it, so I'm in no hurry to finish. :)

You have to understand that some folks are kids in school or out of work and have alot of time on their hands.

I do not.

i noticed today that i've played 78 hours and have 30% completed while 49% of the map explored ... i might turn every stone upside down and loose a lot of time by trying fights at a too low level but 30-40 hours like some claim is a very relative version of beating/finishing the game in my opinion.

anyway afterward there's always a variety of new angles to play the game :P

Well, I bought it on release day, midnight actually. So I have had my copy installed for aboyt 2.5 weeks. I have about 10 hours into it and this is the only game I am playing. It will clearly take months for me to finish this. Kids, job, wife, exercise, etc. I really dont' have much time.

I have spent every minute of my spare time on this game for the past 2 weeks. I am 70 hours in. I still take time to sleep, eat, work, play with my son, but if I'm not doing one of those things, then I am playing DA. I probably could have finished it sooner, but I do a lot of sight-seeing and side-questing.

Yeah, I'm in between contracts too. DA:O's saved my sanity! If it weren't for DA:O, I'd be stuck trying to kill time by volunteering to read to blind children or something! HA!

Dude, you decided to breed. Quit ****ing that you don't have any spare time. Or use a rubber in your next life.

I'm a level 46-year-old w/ a couple of little guys at home who are often seen carrying book bags. I sometimes confuse them for dwarfs, but the silly sods still refer to me as "dad". My GF is now required to wear a robe of possession and addresses me solely as “Warden” in pseudo brit **** speak. At work, I attempt to slay dragons yet no one takes me seriously-- perhaps the giant long sword in my lower right desk drawer will convince them. Yes, I've been playing this game quite a bit,. 90+ hours--the kids go to sleep at 9:00 and I game on.

Most games main stories these days are easily completable in 10-20 hours.

There are some exceptions, of course...(Tales of... games, Persona series...)

Though I have never personally experienced a game that is longer than 60 hours with the main quest alone. I'm half willing to believe that these people leave the game running for hours at a time while they're away just so they can clock up their hour count so they can try and glorify the game even more.

I'm in no way a hardcore gamer, but if I can finish a game with most of the sidequests finished in say...50 hours, and some guy who claims to be hardcore or a bit better than a normal gamer says he clocks 80+ hours main story alone, there is seriously something wrong.
