I calls them as I seems them.  Anyone that would deliberately side with the Templars and kill their own sister that you KNOW is innocent IS a moral monster as the clip on page one makes brutally clear.

If telling the truth makes me a 'Troll" then so be it.

Arguing with Polaris is like slamming you head against the wall. All you'll get in the end is a headache.

I'll give him points for dedication though.

Letting her live and become tranquil, something Bethany has admitted that she'd rather die than have happen to her, is better?

Oh wait, no point in arguing. I'm a monster if what you speak is the truth.

How about you fight the madwoman that's trying to murder a whole bunch of people including your sister for something they didn't do?  That too easy for you?

Because aside from murdering my sister, I agree with her? *gasp* Shocking, I know. How dare he not support mages. He must be a monster. Not going to side with mages because of Bethany when my loyalty stands with the Templar.

Then you are a hypocrit.  If you think that it's ok to kill innocents except your sister you are a hypocrit.  if you think it's ok to kill your sister who is innocent along with a whole lot of other people are innocent then you are a moral monster.

Mind you, there is nthing wrong per se with playing a moral monster in a game....as long as you know your character is a moral monster.

How do I know my sister is innocent? I can't read minds, for all I know she is the most nefarious blood mage to ever cross Thedas (dear BioWare make it so).

I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't let Meredith kill Bethany, I believed in the Anullment as being for the greater good and let her complete it even against my own Hawke's desires. How does that make me a hypocrite? Keep calling me a monster, at least then you don't have to make sense.

By siding with the templars in the first place KNOWING that your own sister was an innocent, makes you (or at least your character) a moral monster.  If you don't kill her, then you are  a hypocrit.

Emperor, the game play makes it abundantly clear that your sister IS an innocent...she even joins your party if you save her life.

Hawke can metagame? Awesome! Let me guess, you're going to call people who don't metagame monsters too?

Even if you don't operate under the principle "Innocent until proven guilty", she is your sister. I'd say there are no precedents, clues or hints that your sister has ever done anything wrong. In fact, she may be the most innocent mage in the entire game.

Gameplay mechanics does not equate lore. If BioWare wanted to keep it hidden from us that Bethany was a Blood Mage, they would not include the specialization on her character sheet.
Even then, what you are referencing is metagaming, something Hawke can't do.

And you haven't talked or kept in contact with your sister in years, she's been confined in the Circle the last few years. For all you know, she isn't innocent. Polaris is using metagame knowledge to say that she is. A Hawke who believes in wiping out the Circle could feel just as justified for killing Bethany there as killing the entire Circle, though that wasn't my Hawke's reasoning for Bethany being stabbed.

She may be. She is in a tower which has somehow been corrupted, why would Bethany avoid this corruption, when so many other mages seems to have fallen to it?

This is your SISTER who showed absolutely NO signs of either abomination or bloodmagic even when her own life was threatened and even helped fight Orsino.

The fact you're willing to kill her anyway makes your character a moral monster.

"Kill them all.  God will know his own."  That was what the Papal legate said just before one of the worse massacres of the Crusades (after Jerusalem had surrendered).  You are in very good company.

Modern ideal that didn't exist in our own world for very long and you're expecting this to exist in Thedas? Don't make me laugh!

Doesn't surprise me though, you love modern ideals.

Exactly it is my own sister. If she was a blood mage, and skilled manipulator, I would be the easiest one to manipulate. All the mages in the Circle has been ordered executed, that includes Bethany, grim as that may be. She could be a blood mage, and letting her go, out of some sort of familial bond, could turn out to be a disaster.

Considering the game is catered to modern audiences with supposedly modern moral questions, I think it;'s valid.

No, it's not. When arguing about something ingame, modern ideals fall into metagame territory. Though it does bring all your arguments and "YOU'RE A MONSTER / RACIST / PRO-RAPE / ****" comments into perspective.
