Just like to say thanks for getting on here and actually giving us some feedback.
As I am sure you have noticed there are allot of people out here that really care about this series and want to see it succeed.
You may have read allot of negative comments on here as of late (Me included) but I don't really think these comments were truly serious or really meaning to be hurtful.
I believe they were made out of shear frustration more than anything, only so someone at (Bioware/EA) would actually take notice.
I have read some of the things people would like you to concentrate on, such as....
This DRM, Hmmmmm..... that is definitely a hard nut to crack, for me I don't much mind these things because I do understand the reason for having it, however in the grand scope of it all what does the DRM really do for games??? The true hackers are going to eventually crack code(s) anyway, so in all honesty the only thing that it does is hurt the honest people, paying for the product anyway. This is a shallow look at the whole thing but I think you can get where I'm going with it.
Crash to desktops are going to be a hard thing to fix as well because every ones' rig is different. I get the occasional CTD with games and for me they happen rarely but I always wondered if they couldn't be related to security. For my Norton it updates on a regular bases in the background,( When Idle ) Sometimes I wonder if it is not updating during game play, but it can't install them as I am playing a game so I'm not really idle. However during play I feel there are times when there is a very small window of opportunity that the computer thinks it is at idle (During Play) and thus it tries to install these updates however system memory is taxed so much during a game that it can't so it causes a CTD. Don't know if that makes any sense or it can even happen that’s just my thought on that.
Also people have to be taking some reasonability for their rigs to, I wonder how many people out here are running their rig with no security at all, or using something they don't really know how it works (Free apps) And overclocking as well, overclocking to makes no sense as the procesors are getting faster all the time. What do people think they are gaining by taxing their GPU/CPU beyond exceptable limits? These things could be causing issues with a myriad of things on there rig, how the hell can we/they hold you guys responsible for that.
I wonder how many people got Viruses, Malware, Trojans, etc. that they may not even be aware of because they never scan on a regular bases, or they only use one piece of security because they think somehow that their app finds everything. If only that were true I could get rid of several scanners that I use
I wonder how many people are using torrents and other such things to get downloads of DLC and the like. I never get any type of download or update from any site other then the official sites, heck I don't even take the updates from windows updates until I actually go and look at them myself. That is enough on that on to some things I would like to see the Devs on;
Game Pausing, I have read something about a memory leak, I have experienced this pausing in DA;O however it is absolutely terrible among other things in Awakenings, that will be another post though.
Achievements, I would really like to reset my achievements according to my character (In Game) Have the total achievements on my BSN page but in game to have them reset each time a new game/character is started.
Updating of toon profiles on BSN, definitely could be quicker that’s for sure, however for me not a big deal, would be nice if it could be done when I wanted though. Eg. If I wanted to do it every weekend, it would be nice to just log on and click a button (Update Character) and it would just do it. If we out here could do it that way, it may keep allot of people off the servers, as they would only be logged in to auth. DLC and/or update a character. Other then those times I would be logged off.
Technical Support ???? Hmmmm....LOL!!! really I think it should be done away with or use actual people who play the game to help us out here to diagnose a problem, my last experience with that was a complete failure, I did what was suggested and I lost every DLC that I manually downloaded and had to start all over again. I swear to God they read stuff off a cue card, that’s not support staff, they are what I would call smooth operators, LOL.
Your staff has to get back to old school, believe it or not, The NWN days when more than likely half if not more than the staff probably grouped every Friday afternoon for their session of D&D LOL. They truly cared because they to were players of the game not just a persons programming a game.
Patching, I think patches should be made available straight from the splash screen when I log in, the same as the ads I see for the DLC and the like. Or just to see a news update for possible issues.
Well that's about it for me I'll keep an eye on this thread and I will also from now on keep a small log for any issues that come up, as I am now starting Awakenings now, using my imported toon from Origins.
Take Care Rob and thanks again for taking your time to start this thread and keeping me/us out here informed.
Sincerely, Wil SilverHeart
P.S. There is more to this in my original P.M. to you as I'm sure your swamped with mail, ergo why I never recieved a reply yet.
