The Dialogue Wheel works really well in ME/ME2, in DA2 it simply doesn't work nearly as well. All too often something entirely different from what I expected ends up getting said, that just didn't happen in either ME game. Obviously you don't need a Dialogue Wheel to have a Voiced Character, in fact you don't even need a Voiced Character, as DAO's superior success demonstrates. But a well voiced Character is cool, so if we're going to have one we should have a method of selecting lines that works. Either do it rigtht like the ME folks do, or simply give us lines like DAO has, the lines show up on the screen, you pick one, and the character says what you selected. That's simple enough, it would eliminate all confusion and frustration, works every time. Clearly the DA2 folks weren't nearly as good with the dialogue wheel as the ME/ME2 folks, they either need to get better or go back to putting the actual words on the screen. Either way works for me.
Hmmm.... I actually prefer the wheel in in DA2 to ME2  I experienced more confusion in DA:O with the silent protagonist and not knowing how my lines were spoken outloud. For me it feels much easier to understand how a companion reacts when I've heard what Hawke acutally said and how she said it. And the list always bores me, in the replays I start to remeber them. I prefer having the tree-structure. That I won't be able to have all options before me right away. Well, thats just me. I have a few games that I tend to replay alot. For me not seeing everything all the time acutally makes it more fun so that's why I don't like the list. I never do all side-q's on one Hawke. Always leave a something unknown for next Hawke/ Warden /Shep.
I hope that ME3 will use some icons in their dialouge wheel. It would be nice to know when I'm saying a line with the intent of flirting and such. I was a little bit rude to Kelly every now and then just in order to make sure that I wouldn't get into the romance-thing with her. And I would really have liked to have her as a friend so that was a bit sad.
