Ah, a good old-fashioned thread resurrection. I'll join in with my newly complete canon Warden:
Name: Leonin Aeducan
Sex: Male
Origin: Dwarf Noble
class: DW Rogue
Specializations: Duelist/Assassin/Legionnaire Scout
(I solo'd the entire game on Nightmare with this guy, BTW)
Companions: He was a strong and inspirational leader, and recruited and befriended all who offered to help him in his battles against the darkspawn (he also hardened Alistair and Leliana - he knew the two of them needed to pull themselves together to effectively battle the Blight). He didn't engage in any romance (he did grow quite fond of Sigrun, but sadly nothing ever came of it) - though Zevran, Isabela, and Morrigan still tried to get into his pants (which he found somewhat offensive, as he didn't believe in inter-species relationships).
A Noble Expedition: He and his brother Trian never got along very well (a classic case of sibling rivalry), instead favoring his younger brother Bhelen - which Bhelen then used to his advantage and easily convinced Leonin to slay Trian. Once Leonin found out the truth of the matter, however, the guilt of having wrongly slain his own brother crushed him - he tearfully told his father he was sorry, and accepted his exile without question. Before he was sentenced, Leonin's loyal second Gorim told him to seek out the Grey Wardens - and sure enough, he encountered Duncan in the Deep Roads and agreed to join the Wardens, that he might redeem himself for his brother's death.
Broken Circle: He was sympathetic to the mages' plight, and refused to believe they were all dead and beyond saving - so he braved the Tower and rescued the First Enchanter. He also found slaying demons and abominations to be damn good fun.
Redcliffe Village: He somewhat reluctantly helped the village (he was in a hurry to find Eamon), but did so valiantly and saved most of the villagers.
Redcliffe Castle: Refusing to allow either Isolde or Connor to die, he called upon the Circle to aid him in saving Connor - and though he was unsure of what to make of Jowan at first, he ultimately saw that he was genuinely sorry for what he did, and allowed him to redeem himself by entering the Fade to defeating Connor's demon. He also requested leniency for Jowan when Eamon confronted him later, to which Eamon obliged.
Flemeth's Grimoire: He very reluctantly agreed to kill Flemeth for Morrigan - but once he spoke with Flemeth again and heard her "proposal", he shed any doubt that she needed to die and slew her promptly.
Return to Ostagar: He stormed the ruins with a vengeance and rained death upon every darkspawn who dared to remain at those hallowed ground where all of his allies were betrayed and killed. He then recovered his mentor and friend's swords from the chest of an Ogre, put them to use once again as he lead the Wardens in Duncan's stead, and gave King Cailan a proper funeral.
Warden's Keep: He was sickened by what Avernus had done to his fellow Wardens, but saw that his experiments had actually bore fruit and agreed to aid him in killing Sophia and mending the Veil. He then spared Avernus and allowed him to continue his research, on the condition that he did so ethically.
Urn of Sacred Ashes: Though not an Andrastian by any means, he knew Kolgrim's offer was abominable and refused to do it - he was then forced to slay Kolgrim and the rest of his followers. When he met Trian's spirit again in the Gauntlet, he apologized for what he had done and thanked him for his forgiveness. Once he obtained the ashes, he then slew the High Dragon knowing that it was a potential threat. He then somewhat reluctantly allowed Genitivi to leave and spread the word about the urn (he worried the urn would end up being exploited).
Nature of the Beast: He sympathized with the Werewolves and convinced Zathrian to end the Curse, which he thought was an even greater crime than what was done to Zathrian's children.
Paragon of Her Kind: He knew Harrowmont was unfit to rule Orzammar, and was unable to bring himself to betray his House a second time. So he somewhat begrudgingly gave Bhelen his support, and the two were very sarcastic and passive-aggressive to each other the entire time they worked together. He was greatly upset when the newly crowned King Bhelen called for Harrowmont's execution, and carried the guilt of his death with him long after he departed for the surface again.
Anvil of the Void: When he encountered Hespith in the Dead Trenches, he was absolutely horrified to learn the grisly truth behind how the darkspawn bred and what horrors his people were forced to endure at their hands. It was then that he became a true Grey Warden, and swore he would do whatever it took to destroy the darkspawn forever. To that end, he put his reservations about Branka aside and aided her in her quest to recover the ancient Anvil (though he lamented having slain an ancient Paragon to do so).
Unrest in the Alienage: He was appalled at what Howe and his men had done to the elves, having butchered an entire orphanage full of women and children - Howe's death at his hands then felt all the sweeter. He was further incensed when he discovered Loghain's collaboration with the Tevinter slavers, who he promptly carved a swath through before at last encountering Caladrius. The two attempted to come to an agreement, but Leonin refused to let more elves be taken and was forced to defeat the magister and his remaining lackeys. In the end, he still agreed to spare Caladrius in exchange for the slaver documents.
The Landsmeet: When he arrived at the Royal Palace, he went into the Landsmeet on a tear about the many atrocities Loghain and Howe had committed since Ostagar. With damning evidence at his disposal and the support of the Queen and many of the other nobles, Loghain was almost unanimously voted out of his position as regent. After a brief duel, Leonin readied Duncan's blade to bring justice to the man responsible for his death - but at the last second, Riordan convinced him to spare Loghain and recruit him as a Warden. Alistair was greatly infuriated and left the Wardens, but still agreed to marry Anora and take his brother's place as king.
The Final Battle: Despite everything the disgraced general had done, Leonin found that he and Loghain actually had a great deal in common - and after a few fireside chats, the two came to mutually respect one another. On the eve of the battle, however, it was revealed that the Warden who kills the Archdemon dies. Leonin was ready to take the final blow himself, but Loghain insisted that he be the one to do it. Morrigan, however, had another plan, which she offered to Leonin - a dark ritual that would see the Archdemon's soul transferred into an unborn child upon its death. Leonin was appalled by the offer, and utterly refused to do it. Morrigan left in a rage, and Leonin left to battle the Archdemon without her. When he finally defeated it, Loghain once again insisted that he take the final blow, wishing to redeem himself for his past wrongs and save his homeland from this evil. Moved by Loghain's desire for atonement and his patriotism, he granted the general his final wish and saluted him as he went to his death... and to the death of the Archdemon.
Boon: Remembering the plight of poor Hespith and the suffering of his people at darkspawn hands, he requested military aid for Orzammar from the Crown, to which the Queen gladly obliged. He then elected to return to Orzammar for a short time (he said he'd come back to the Wardens soon after though) with his loyal second and friend Gorim - and with a strong, progressive ruler on the throne, the Anvil of Void once again in their possession, and their military bolstered by casteless and foreign troops, Orzammar became more powerful and stable than it had been in centuries. For his efforts against the Blight and his aid to Orzammar, Leonin was unanimously declared a Paragon by the Assembly - and because Leonin's aid and Bhelen's rule made such a potent combination, many wondered if the two hadn't been in cahootz with each other the entire time.
Assault on Amaranthine: As Commander of the Grey and Arl of Amaranthine, Leonin proved himself to be a good ruler and an excellent military tactician (much like what his father saw in him long before). Under his leadership, Leonin quickly rebuilt the Fereldan Wardens and skillfully fought off the Mother's forces. When the darkspawn seiged the city of Amaranthine, Leonin rallied the remaining soldiers and guards and managed to put down the darkspawn incursion, saving the city and most of its remaining inhabitants. Meanwhile, Vigil's Keep stood strong against the darkspawn army, having been well-fortified by Leonin and his dwarven allies.
Depths of Depravity: As Leonin descended into the depths of the Mother's lair, the Architect appeared and attempted to parley with him. He agreed to hear out the Architect's plight, but was unconvinced of the creature's sincerity and decided to kill it and end its "experiments" for good, lest the whole of Thedas be set ablaze by this new, more dangerous breed of sentient darkspawn.
Witch Hunt: He tracked Morrigan down to an ancient Eluvian, demanding to know what she intended to do with it, and why she had wanted the Archdemon's soul. She offered little in the way of answers, still upset that Leonin denied her the ritual - but gave him a grave warning about Flemeth and a coming "change" to the world, and a book that might better help him to understand. Satisfied enough with their "reunion", he allowed Morrigan to leave through Eluvian before disappearing himself.
And there you have it - the best Warden I've ever made, and the one I'll be importing into DA2.
EDIT: I like how some of you threw in some RP tidbits in your posts, so I've updated my post accordingly - though it reads more like a storybook now. LOL.
