i get this black screen and audio stutter for both of these missions.

i have to do a hard reset on the computer to stop this.

IFF battle, it happens right after you destroy the reaper core and it goes to the cutscene on what they were deciding to do with legions body

shadow broker - at liaras apartment.  where you click on the prothean artifact.

can anybody help?

this is frustrating.

Seeing as you havent given a full problem report as detailed in the "Read First" thread, no, we cant help. Read this thread, and post all the required details accordingly.

DirectX 10.0  (Aug2008)

bought the game on steam - don't know the version but steam auto updates it.

i get this black screen and audio stutter for both of these missions.

i have to do a hard reset on the computer to stop this.

IFF battle, it happens right after you destroy the reaper core and it goes to the cutscene on what they were deciding to do with legions body

(the screen turns black and audio stutters after the first couple of seconds when the cutscene starts)

shadow broker - at liaras apartment. when you talk to the spectre.  you walk around and look at the artifacts.  when you click on the one that gives you the cut scene, it does the exact same problem as the one above.

That 9700M is a mobility video card which ISN'T supported at all. No mobility card is minimum specs for ME2. The core is also close to the bottom of the minimum specs, so you are pushing the computer running ME2. Now this might NOT be your problem or it MAY be contributing to it. As a simple start point if you are running any graphics settings above the bare minimum then lower to the lowest you can. You may also want to install DirectX 9.0c, which you may have already, but DriectX10 isn't fully backwards compatible in regards to ME2.

Both of those scenes have fair amount going on, and MAY be having an issue because of heat build-up, so your machine may need better cooling when playing or a good cleaning of vents/fans. I think I had some issues with the 267 level drivers, and some of the older chipset video cards don't do well with the latest so you also may want to try an older version something that came out mid to early last year.

thanks.. yea i was thinkin' it might be the drivers.

the game ran fine before with the settings on high. it was really smooth. so it's totally strange. but i'll give it a try by lowering the settings down.

im actually playing this on a laptop. toshiba qosmio.

i also have cleaned out the vents etc. before reinstalling it.

Being that it is a laptop, and at the lower end of the scale for ME2 you might cause long term issues if you keep pushing high graphics. Sad to say, Laptops were NOT designed for gaming and high graphics loads, and tend to build up massive amounts of heat when pushed. The heat generated then damages and shortens the useable life of the stressed components, meaning that it works for a while and then will start failing and causing issues. You may NOT be having this, but if you continue to push your computer you will eventually.

I you do want the better graphics then do all the little things that help with heat and stress on your comp, that is make sure the surface you have it on, will help in removal of heat, make sure you don't run anything else in the background that isn't required. Make sure you vents are clean and are not blocked by anything around the computer. You also will probably want to limit how much time you play continuously ie don't do the 3-5 hours marathon plays, take good breaks and shut down the pc to let it cool.

It's possible you're dealing with corrupt installs, and these two different missions have both suffered bitrot. See the "ME2 always crashes at the same spot" question in the FAQ for a Steam procedure you can try (though that probably won't work with LotSB, that you'll probably just need to try re-installing).
