WHAT...... IS....... THAT.

Is that.... Sten and the Arishok dancing?

Must be one of thsoe parties that Sten talks about at the end of DA:O.

Sten: "It is madness"

They must've already imbibed their spirits.

Potent stuff.

Autonomous sources tell me that it's customary for the Arishok to hold a woman on each horn in the party.
And no, they don't sit on the pointy end. I have to clarify this because I know you.

She's not a particularly well-developed character; some way can be found, if we work together.

I personally thought she was a better developped character than Meredith and Orsino actually. She started out naive in Act 1 and the next time we meet her she's more ruthless.

But ok, let's try.

For some reason that I can't be bothered to expain, Hawke pushes Petrice away from the arrow path, and he gets hit instead (I'd hope he would die and rid us of his existence, but I digress). Petrice is shocked that the person she lied to, manipulated and even tried to kill, for some reason, took an arrow for her. Thus feelings arise that she never really felt before, nor could she understand.

Her infatuation with Hawke increases when he / she defeats the Qunari and becomes champion (despite the injury, but whatever). Since I think Petrice does not want war between mages and Templars, the two collaborate to mediate the conflict and they grow closer and closer. Until...

Cheesy as heck, but that's the best I can come up with.

Hmmm...
It'd help if we had some hints to Petrice's personality beyond her hatred of qunari. I'm not even certain about her devoutness as anything other than a means to get the faithful riled up. Any guesses as to what else she might be like?

I think she needs someone to make her laugh. But other than that, I have no idea.

Good guess. I thought exactly that as I read it.

I have way too many ideas... Hawke/Aveline, Hawke/Petrice, Bethany/Isabela, one case of Hawke/Bethany...

Well, Petrice certainly admires strength, so she should be attracted to Hawke just for that.  The Sacastic Hawke is as clever as she is and her frustraition with Hawke could turn into sexual attraction.

She woiuld even be arrogant enought to think she can change Hawke.   Reform him and put him on the path of light.

I don't think the relationship would be an angry rivalmance as much as a personality duel.

It would probably end up as one long chess game with sex.  Not a bad thing depending on how it unfolded.

That is more of a turn on than it should be.

You know that that progression eventually leads to Hawke/Carver.

Notice that none of my pairings have men in them. I think I'm safe.

Liveable, but could it ever go farther...?

Depends on which one of them 'wins' and whether the other can handle that.

Well, given the rivalry paths, Hawke pretty much always wins if there's a confrontation, so I think we could assume that for now.

Or it could be a draw. As Sister Petrice slowly touches her queen with her fingers, teasing Hawke for minutes, before spreading her forces thin, exposing her queen to Hawke's castle...

Then Hawke knocks over the chess table and proceeds to jump on Petrice.

No but seriously, they should totally make a chess game foreplay cutscene some day. David Xanatos does that with his wife Fox!

To say there is romance in DA2 is an insult to all the great romances throughout history - Romeo and Juliet, Robin and Marion, Rick and Ilsa, Mulder and Scully.

Ugh. Mulder & Scully were ruined with romance. Chris Carter is nothing but a hack. He's a one hit wonder and will never be successful again due to what he did with The X-Files.

I picture the relationship going something like this...

Petrice stalks into Hawke's mansion furious.

"Darling, I wasn't expecting you this afternoon?"

"Hawke! Must you always interfere with the work of the Chantry!"

"I am afraid you must be more specific dearest. I have interfered so often that all the Chantry plots sort of run together."

"You have been feeding the poor of Darktown."

Hawke blinks. "I'm sorry? I wasn't aware that the Chantry had exclusivity on charity."

"Don't act innocent Serah. You know your only doing it so that the poor does not have to go to the Chantry. When we help these unfortunate souls it gives the Chantry the opportunity to educate them in the eyes of the Maker."

"I wasn't aware, Petrice, that the Maker was so insecure that he needed to bribe people with food. You might consider going to Darktown with loaves of bread in future rather than trying to lead the poor with breadcrumbs to the Chantry door."

"You know that Darktown is not safe!"

"You're right. Its not, and unlike those who live there, you have an army of Templars at your disposal. If you want to preach to 'unfortunate souls' I suggest you allow for the fact you might get the hem of your robe dirty occasionally."

"You are completely insufferable!" Petrice turns on her heel and starts to stalk out.

"Are we still on for dinner?"

"Yes. Don't be late."

Yes, a rivalmance would probably be the best kind of mance for this pairing.
But... where would Ser Varnell be?

You know, if Hawke is a mage and treats Fenris sort of like her own bodyguard (which mine does), that could get even more hilarious.

Ser Varnell is dead because he got in the way of the Petrice rivalmance. No one likes that zealot.

Doesn't Petrice try to get him killed anyway?

She uses him as a sacrificial lamb to protect herself.  With him dead she can argue that it was he that used the Grand Cleric's seal.
