They've never put out a game that's disappointed me until DA2. And one game isn't going to drive me away or have me declare BioWare dead.

Me? Yeah, I guess you'd say I am.

Nope. Even though I agree it's not their best offering, I played through it 4 times with various class combinations. Enjoyed it a lot. I can't see me playing through DA2 again.

Loyalty to a videogame company is overrated. Loyalty to your Country, Family, and friends is not.

I second that.
You are right. Its not the case to put Bioware in the "paper towel" category. I loved Mass Effect, preordered Dragon Age Origins, preordered Awakening, preordered ME2, preordered DA2. But after DA2 im not willing to consider Bioware's products further as a sure bet.RaenImrahl wrote...

I'll pick Bioware every time. For me it's the safer bet. Now that particular set of conditions would never come about but when most things are equal Bioware's track record and name will win me over everytime.
When I go shopping, I'll usually get whatever is the least expensive of a type of item... except for those few brands I've come to trust (or learned to trust because I grew up with them). Paper towels... whatever's cheapest. Tuna... always buy the same name brand. Ditto for peanut butter. Same for ketchup.
When Heinz repackages its ketchup in a new container, there's always something on the label that says-- "New look, same great stuff". The problem is, with DA2, they did the opposite. They said, essentially, "Same Dragon Age, new stuff inside!" There's nothing wrong with that, but I think they ultimately did themselves a disservice, perception-wise, by calling it "Dragon Age II". It's not a direct sequel, nor was it ment to be. Better to have called it, "Dragon Age: Kirkwall" or something else.
For me, the brand is intact. I recognize DA2's flaws, but I am not ready to put Bioware in the "paper towel" category yet.

Honestly, I think that is a silly statement. There are obviously degrees of loyalty. One isn't going to die for a videogame company, but they might make every effort to support them; demonstrate a willingness to believe in the company despite its occasional mistake; stand by it in both thick AND thin, etc. The people who decliared they'd never purchase another BW game after DA2 where obviously never loyal; while those who said "I didn't like this game, but that hardly means I'm going to denounce the company, and will defend the good things about it/Bioware even amidst my complaints" are.
I was mostly underwhelmed by the majority of ME and DA:O DLC, (though I loved Leliana's Song, simply because it let me play with Lily more) but did I say "I hate this material, and I hate Bioware for making it, I'll never buy from them again!"? No, I said "Bioware is capable of better, and I will hold out faith that they can continue to produce quality material, I'm just not going to buy DLCs on blind faith". Being loyal, and being "blindly loyal" are not the same thing.

I was far more disappointed by Neverwinter Nights, which I found to be very tedious, especially after the wonderful party interaction of BGII. Admittedly, NWN was really a toolkit with a bit of a game bolted on, but using the toolkit didn't interest me.
