Yep, I do.

I've liked every one game of theirs that I've played, which means I'm a fair bit more forgiving of elements that would otherwise bother me in their new games (which -- in turn -- means I like their old games more, which makes me more forgiving of the new ones, etc, etc...).

That's not to say I can't look at their games objectively, I could still point out things I don't like, it's just that they don't bother me so much as they might elsewhere, but that's also down to loving the writing in all of their games so far without fail, which causes me to be more forgiving of mechanical problems regardless of the developer.

What do you get if you say you're loyal?  Secret decoder ring?  Cool guy signature?  I've bought and played every Bioware RPG since Baldur's Gate; most of them I've played multiple times except for Neverwinter Nights; only played that one once.
I've been happy enough with their games to buy their next one without even waiting for buzz; I've always had faith they would create a good game.
DA2 changed this.  For the first time, I'm actively disappointed by one of their games.  Was it fun?  Sure...but so was Pac Man for about 20 minutes or so.  I finished it.  I have no desire to replay it.
Compared to the other titles, the writing was the weakest I'd ever seen.  I hated the random redesign on the art and while faster combat sounded good, as delivered it effing blew.  I take some blame with how irritated I am with this game; i was really looking forward to it like I do every Bioware release.  Then again, I think back to when I played the Witcher for the first time; I thought an RPG where you could play one character would totally suck.  It remains one of my favorite games.  It knocked my socks off.
Do I feel betrayed?  Not really.  I'm nothing but a revenue source to Bioware; they make things I spend money on.  They're not my friends.  I am disappointed though; I think of the stories they've written that have gripped me on multiple playthroughs.  I think of the paragraphs of dialogue that BGII and Planescape Torment had...and now we have 'I like big boats i cannot lie' and tee hee wink wink lines about sex.  Now, they were funny lines, but I think they indicate either a lack of maturity in the writing staff or a lack of focus on what kind of game they want to make.  The serious part of the writing, ie the plot of the game, was weak.  Liked the Qunari angle; hated the Chantry/Mage conflict.  So my choice is to side with the Prison camp guard with the stupid red sword abusing her charges, or the walking talking meatballs.  Great.  How about C. I'll play Crysis 2 instead.
So, as far as buying history, I've been a loyal customer but if they keep putting out poorly written twitch game dreck like DA2, I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I've been a fan since KotOR.  I guess I could be considered a fan, as I would buy their games without looking at reviews or asking a friend about it.  That was more because I was sure that I was picking up a quality game because BioWare was stamped on the front of the box.  DA2 changed that, at least for now.  Time will tell if this was a single hiccup or the beginning of a trend, but for now I'll be careful with which BioWare games I buy.

I am exactly this. I bought Bioware games simply becuase they were Bioware, without looking at reviews and stuff. After DA2, i certainly won't be doing that anymore.

I think being a loyal fan doesn't mean that you think that their games have no problems and everything is perfect.
I like bioware, they are capable of making games with pretty much everything that's needed.
Graphics, gameplay, story, characters, humor and all that.

However, i have always thought that being a loyal fan is silly, so no, i'm not.
But i don't think that people, who say that the company with a legacy of great game is completely evil and horrible because of a single game, are fans either.
No matter how many great games they make, they concentrate on the latest one and if its bad (or not really, given that these "fans" can't seem to notice anything but the problems) the good games are dissmissed with a smug sense of superiority.

I have never been a ''loyal fan'' to any game dev, there is ultimately no way to predict how a dev will go about making a game, take DA2 for instance, alot of people on the forums say they were ''betrayed'' or have ''lost faith in BioWare''.

Even though alot of people loved what DA was when it started, they didn't see the outcome of the sequel.

I however don't expect every element of a game I liked to carry over to it's sequel, thus I wasn't raging on the forums about how I miss the good ol' days when DA2 came out.

Like many others I have learned to move with the times, nothing stays the same anymore. People change, times change, and a handful of hardcore fans posting they're opinions on a forum won't change that. If it did, I doubt DA2 would have turned out the way it did.

My experience is that I enjoyed the Baldur's Gate games, I loved KOTOR... but I didn't really think about them as Bioware games. It was only when Mass Effect came along that I realized there was a certain style, a certain vision all of these games shared and it was "the Bioware touch".
Dragon Age was a game I wasn't particularly interested in at first because I had seen trailers that seemed to suggest it was all about sex & violence. Luckily, I did buy it because it was Bioware and loved it to bits. I'm having a similar experience with Dragon Age II where there is so much controversy around the game and I absolutely adore it... I don't have that much time for gaming and I've kind of decided to stick with what I really love, which are Bioware and Bethesda games. So at this point, I definitely feel I am a loyal fan.

I've seen a number of conversations where people have called themselves loyal BioWare fans but feel BioWare abused their trust with Dragon Age II. I was wondering how members of this board view their loyalty to BioWare and what they believe BioWare owes their loyal fans.

It occurred to me that I'm not a 'loyal' BioWare fan. If I were restricted to 4 games this year, it's very likely I'd have skipped DA II. I like BioWare games but I also tend to buy 10-15 games a year.

I've never thought that any BioWare game was perfect, and the games many seem to see as the best - Buldar's Gate 2 and Dragon Age: Origins - weren't fun for me. I don't think BioWare makes the best RPGs or the best type of RPGs, but there are elements that they do well that I love.

Simple answer is yes, I do consider myself as such. I am loyal to many developers based on what they have done in the past. Rockstar and Bethesda (RDR and Fallout I bought because of GTA and Oblivion/Morrowind). I bought DA:O purely based on how much I loved ME1. I bought DA:2 based on my love for DA:O and ME1 and ME2. I will buy ME3 purely becuase I love ME1 and ME2 but after DA2 I will strongly consider not buying DA3 unless there is clearly more money and time invested in it.

For me, DA:O was the greatest game I have ever played. Ever. DA2 had so much to live up to and failed for me quite miserably.

I tend to be loyal, but not blind. I loved Blizzard but when they started the downward spiral into "casualness" with WoW, I walked away. So far Bioware is putting out good titles, enjoyable games...so I stick around. It is what it is.

I'm a fan. I buy their games usually blindy. But I have other interestes to. CDProjekt right now is what interests me. Then it will Bethesda with SKyrim and Edios with Deus Ex and then again Bioware with Mass Effect 3 and The Old Republic.

Yes, actually I do consider myself a loyal Bioware fan. They have consistently proven to me that their work is above the caliber of most video games. They do things that most companies shy away from. And that's what I respect them for. Not everything they make is going to be the most brilliant thing they've done, but I can gaurantee that they'll try something new and different and push the envelope of what a video game can be. And it's that philosophy that keeps me coming back.

The older I get, the less time I have to play games and the more I suffer from "been there, done that" syndrome. I like that Bioware continues to keep my on my toes, and they're pretty much the only company whose product I will actively make time to enjoy. There's always room for improvement, but from the first time I played one of their games, I realized they were different and special in an industry that is largely the same. They're the reason I pursued a degree in Game Art and Design. Before them, it never occurred to me that games could be anything other than a mindless waste of time to keep from being bored.

So yes. I am loyal to Bioware, and I will forgive them for their flaws because at least they were brave enough to be progressive and not just re-hash the same old stuff.

I'm a Bioware consumer becuase they make games I like. I suppose I'm loyal in that I buy, follow and pre-order very few games during the year and do buy Bioware games (LA Noire, Witcher 2, and DA2 were my only pre-orders so far) but there are games Bioware made that I can't stand (e.g. BG series or NWN vanilla) or otherwise games I would never buy (e.g. Old Republic).

I'm not a "loyal fan" of any dev or studio.  I am a consumer of their products.  If they make a product I desire, I will buy it.  If they don't, I'll simply take my purchasing dollars elsewhere and get something I do like.  DA2 was only the second game I've ever pre-ordered and I have learned my lesson.  That's not a DA2/Bioware/EA bash, simply a reminder to myself to do my due diligence before making a purchase.

I think some people are using a different definition of loyalty? We're not talking about exclusivity or anything, are we?

To me, being loyal means that if BioWare makes a product, you'll be sure to look at it. It doesn't mean you have to buy it or that you can't ever buy any other game from another company, nor even that you can't like a game from a different company more. In that sense, I'd consider myself loyal to (what used to be) BioWare, but I've certainly passed on KotOR (I just can't do Star Wars) and Sonic (I would have gotten it if I had a DS, actually), and I have no intention of ever even looking at TOR (I won't do MMO either). I don't think that makes me disloyal? They make games that appeal to me and that interest me, and them making a game that I'm not interested in doesn't affect my chances of considering their other future titles.

I'd say yes.

Will I buy every single piece of DLC they throw my way? No. Darspawn Chronicles will never see a cent from me. I love Bioware games, and as long as their games are enjoyable, I will buy them. From what I played so far, I wasn't disappointed in any of Bio's RPGs. Sure there were some downfalls in each, but the good outweighted the bad by a wide margin. Let's just say Bioware RPGs are on the top of my priority list when it comes to buying games.

Yes, I suppose I am.

At the very least I always look at Bioware games, since their past record with me means it is likely I will enjoy it. That's not to say I'll automatically buy though. I'll pass on games which don't appeal, such as JE.

Generally, I can always rely on Bioware to provide an engaging story, and gender choice for protagonist. So long as they continue to do both these two things, I'll continue to be "loyal" fan.

I would say I'm a fan of a specific type of game. That type of game tends to be offered by Bethesda at this point in time (Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, FO3, FO:NV). My foray into Dragon Age II was a bit of a fluke (as was my foray into Mass Effect 2). I was burned out on EverQuest 2 (and other MMOs). I was between DLC for FO:NV and needed a diversion. I caught a story about Bioware releasing a Demo of DA 2. I downloaded it, and found the story intriguing enough to purchase. The story was able to draw me in and keep me interested. Bioware just needs to work on the whole" My actions make a difference in the scheme of things" idea, as well as the "mage Hawke can shoot fireballs at highnoon in the town square with no repercussions, but all other mages get murdered" thing.

I will say, I liked both DA2 and ME2 enough that I will likely purchase DA3 and ME3 at somepoint just to see what happens next.

EDIT: I do wish to say thank you to Bioware/EA for the free copy of ME 2. It's giving me something to do while waiting for DA 2 to be patched (again). :P

Great question. I definately used to. I'm not so sure anymore. I've purchased all of their games, and dlc, from pretty much day one! After my disappointment with DA2, and to a lesser extent ME2, I'm going to wait until I've read many, many, user reviews before I purchase any future games.

I just read part of an interview concerning ME3 saying that it was going to be even MORE STREAMLINED to appeal to a greater audience! I'm not sure how they could streamline it anymore.

I guess I'm coming to the realisation that I'm not a part of the "New" Bioware's target audience anymore...

Sad, really.

Feels kind of like a breakup...

Not loyal anymore . I won't purchase their next game blindly. It's not really dragon age 2 that pissed me off.

1:The whole signature edition pissed me off.Trying to bait customer to pre-order a game with DLC .

2:The price raise of EA/Activision . I still can't believe i paid 60 dollars for a  steam digital version .
They gave Mass Effect 2 for free after.Nice .It's like MK9 selling for 70 bucks at bestbuy and 2 week later you can have it for 29.99$ with a ' super code' .I won't dive into that crap anymore. They really think of us has idiot.

3:DRM  .. It's getting on my nerve. Are they making publicity for bittorent or what?

Than you end up with a game that does not come close to the original and you think about all of this .Videogame are becoming the fastfood of entertainment and i'm starting to think  videogaming it's not for me anymore.

Yes. I've been hounding Bioware since Baldur's Gate. Not to say I'm not disappointed with DA 2 and ME 2 but one must make mistakes to better oneself. Sides I still liked the story's they presented and honestly that's all I really care about anyways. As long as Bioware makes good stories they can't truly do me any wrong.

That's rediculous.  There have  been added preorder bonuses to entice people for just about as long as I can remember.  Usually they are items, or other useless, disinteresting material ... for once they actually offered something that would make me want to preorder to get it ... I'd say that's good marketing.  It is not as though you couldn't play the game without Sebastian ... and it isn't as though they didn't offer him to those who chose to wait, at a price of something like 7 bucks.  If companies can't offer incentives for preorders, they will lose a vast number of those "guaranteed" sales.  Telling a company to be less savy in its marketing is just silly ... as is complaining when they are.
