Do you know any gay people? They are very interesting by default at least all the gay people I know. I don't know how the fanbase would respond to this, homosexuality is a very racy issue.

For those people wishing to pry this could be a great avenue to understanding how accepted gays are in 2183 or not depending on how it is handled. Or do you believe homosexuality will be a non issue in 2183? I would hope so. You can't deny this is a significant wrinkle to any persons character/personality not a defining one, but a huge one none the less.

What I like about Jacob is he is very normal. He could very well be gay.

I believe there are gamers that really do find him boring, but Im sure there are just as many that dont like him or romance him because he's black. People can say what they want but unfortunately racism hasn't gone away no matter how enlightened some folks on these boards are.
I remember a post from last year where someone was pissed because a black dude slept with Miranda first and thus he felt she was no longer a romance option...wtf.

Jacob is fine. People disliked Kaidan because he was "whiny" and therefore boring, now people dislike Jacob because he is "normal" and therefore boring, i guess you will hate James Sanders because he will be "muscular" and boring?

the dude knows nothing outside of service...everything he does is for job performance. give the dude something outside of that service unrelated to whom he lays....cuz that is of no consequence to his personality...unless he has to throw it in your face every 5 seconds....then he would be annoying.

I wouldn''t  make him flamboyant. He could be that calm reserved gay. That masculine gay.

i'd hope humanity in 2183 would be more concerned with bigger issues rather than in whom others choose to love. But to make Jacob gay just to make him interesting? i dunno man. that is a Hollywood response right there. the show is tanking, the ratings are down...lets MAKE one of the characters in the show gay to garner interest. It is a gimmick that doesnt do the show justice. If the character was gay from the get go or they developed the story in a way that it was believable okay. I have never met a person that woke up one day and out of the blue said im gay. that would be insulting and cheap.

IF Bioware always had the option but chose not to make it available without a mod thats one thing...but to make a big change like that is another.

Jacob is some of the dudes i met in the Marine Corps. Dude was awesome at his job...he was gung-ho and moto.. a lifer. outside of that there wasnt much there. Not a type of dude you'd want to get drunk with on a regular basis. Something about the things he has seen or done can be used to augment how Jacob's personality is to give alil more zip. It doesnt need to be drastic...just something that adds a few more dialogue options that doesnt make him come off as creepy or talking to a speech emulating program..oh the monotony. maybe it is just the voice acting. maybe it was how Jacob was intended to be. If so...great.

Since when is gay not normal? Gay has been around for a long time. Jacob doesn't represent a race of people he represents Jacob.

Until my character is required by constraints in the story to engage in extended homosexual sex, I still say they should just go for it. No logical reason not to except the illogical complaints of others.

You like Jacob just the way he is. You beleve that people are bashing on Jacob because he is black. People have the right to dislike a character even the characters color if they so choose they should know better but that is another issue all together.

This is an ethics debate. Do I try to give people the benefit of the doubt? Yes, Should I? I don't know but I try to make the world they way I would like it to be, not constantly looking back at how it was.

Anyone that is "normal" after seeing or doing the things Jacob has would be VERY abnormal.  those are the individuals you worry about either snapping because they are bottling everything up inside, are sociopaths, or have for a long time accepted their behaviour as "normal" because of the individuals they socialize with (nature/nuture thing). 

for Jacob to be so cool and calm...especially when dealing with his pops...i mean he got alil heated..but the dude was cold as ice!   got all those angry feelings for years...gonna be some anger...even if you tell yourself you made peace with it....im sure a bigger blow up would have surficed.

If thats how Jacob was supposed to be....then he would be compelling to me.

And this whole thread missed the point of my OP. It's really about how people used to hate Kaiden and Liara. And honestly, Jacob did have a personality, nobody bothered to really see it since he was a worse version of Grunt with a bad AI glitch that prevented him from using pull.

It's funny you brought up XBL, because before I got into online gaming I never heard the N word more times in my life, and I grew up in the inner city Lol. In a perfect world we wouldn't have these issues but I digress.
