Was there an announcement to remove the option to pay via Paypal recently? I purchased my first points via Paypal only mid-2010, and now I am no longer able to use Paypal?
No longer able to pay via Paypal?

I suspect I know what has happened. I live in a non-Western country where EA has a local online store that only accepts credit card payment.
In the past, when I bought Bioware points, I believe the transaction is handled by EA in USA, as the price is quoted in US Dollars. I was thus able to make payment via Paypal (which would convert and deduct the amount in local currency from my account).
Now, for some reason, attempting to buy points apparantly routes me to the local EA outlet, as the listed price for points differ (and match the appropriate value in local currency) - and Paypal is no longer an option.
This was never requested by me (at least intentionally). I could accept the situation if IF I could pay the local EA store via Paypal but it only accepts credit card purchase.
Does anyone know how to force the system to allow me to transact direction with EA USA (or another EA online store that accepts Paypal)?

I've heard similar paypal problems like this, contact EA support. You can try online chat support.

Got it from this thread:

Identical problem here. And I want 'Arrival' dammit! PayPal is my only means of paying and now they seem to have removed it as an option. On top of that every time I try to access support it tells me that my email address is wrong, which it isn't. Infuriating situation.

I figured it out!
I recently bought Dead Space 2 in physical form (another EA title) and had to create an EA login. So I had to input some information into my EA profile - one of which was my country of residence.
Based on that, EA automatically directed my online purchases to the EA store of my country, causing the whole issue.
I got around this by editing my country of residence to a neighbouring country that either does not has an EA online store or one which accepts Paypal payment in US$.
I actually figured this out some time ago, but I didn't expect anyone else to have this problem (unless you live in the same country as me and stumble into the same issue).

I have the same problem. I've used SupidSeep's advice and changed my country to USA, and got that Paypal option, but when I try to use it, I get this message:
Your previously selected offer does not match your billing address' local currency. Make a new selection from one of these local offers and continue to complete your order.
The thing is, I have USD card to use with Paypal. And even if I didn't, paypal makes conversion automatically. Why can't I use it from my current location? And proposed RUR is not my local currency either. I live in Ukraine, not in Russia. Why should I use EA-Russia Store now??? I have been using Paypal for quite some time, and it worked perfectly. Why change that?
I think the idea of paying in RUR was meant to be more convenient, but I for me it turned out to be additional trouble.
