Nurf mages

2. You get two NPC mages, who disagree about everything.
3. Even on the easiest difficulty, there are fights where their AOE spells are nessary, such as the 'back alley' bandit quests in Denerim.
One or two of these, would be difficult but fine, but I find the combination of all three incredably frustrating.

2. That's kind of the point. If you want the power of npc 2 mages in your party you have to try to balance your act and try to kep them together.
3. False. There are no fights where AoE is necessary. No single tactic or class is necessary to play DA:O. My first time playing was with only 1 mage Wynn who only healed. I had 1 AoE spell (earthquake) which i used maybe a total of 3 times. There are people soloing this game with rogues...

Mages seem to be more powerful to them simply because they are EASY to play. Just slap on a couple primal spells and click on the enemy and you're set.
Warriors and Rogues on the other hand need to pay a lot of attention to their skill development (more so than mages at least) and are constantly worrying about relative positions and skill combinations in battle.

ZING!
I have a party of 3 warriors (two DPS builds, one tank), and simi healer/debuffer morrigan. I switch off mainly between normal and hard, and have very little difficulty if I actually use my brain.
I'll admit I blasted through Orz on easy... but thats cause I wanted Oghren in my group asap... and Orz is f*in HARD.
Lol, pretty funny how much easier they made easy mode though, I made it threw Orz without dying once.

i see. but still one would expect people to read the damm skills definition and use some tactics while playing

Why are we talking about "nerfing" and "OP" in a single player game?

I want a Resto Druid. Why is there no Druid specialization in this game? I have lost faith in BioWare.
Come on. How awesome would a shapeshift-into-tree be?

QFT.
If you don't like using AOE spells or think they are overpowered don't use it and adjust your tactics accordingly. I have for instance locked down large groups with carefully placed traps and/or stuns of various types. Sure you have to work a bit harder but therein lies the challenge

Game design is about balance and interdependence of variables. Some variables are independent, some are not, and some ought to be independent but are not.
In this case I think the solution would be to add (or re-add?) stamina potions to create more of a level playing field between mages and non-mages. If that makes the overall game too easy, then global adjustments such as we saw in patch 1.01 can correct that.

"Necessary" must mean something different to you than it does to me. I got through the entire game without using a single AoE damage spell. Not one, not once.Maria Caliban wrote...
