Makes sense.

Wasn't Mass Effect 2 pushed back because of the competition that year too?

I love the way people on this forum whinge that ME3 was being developed too quickly, that it's being rushed, and that they're worried it'll be like DA2. Then bioware announce a delay, and people start blaming the boogeyman (EA), start saying it's to cash in, how could they... etc

no pleasing people.

I say, more dev time=better game and better game=me happy

The question is...would this game have been delayed without the handheld's existance?
But I also agree more time is more time in the end...and that is positive!I

Possibly not, but if anything we should be thanking this handheld thing for possibly pushin ME3 back and ensuring it'll be even more polished! Gonna be a tough 9 months

also, people worried about the handheld game, are you forgetting mass effect Galaxy?

Did it's existence "ruin" Mass Effect 2? Because they came out in the same time frame.

I honestly dont think they are related. Think about this realisticly guys. Would Bioware really be able to por the entirety of Mass Effect 3 to a handheld system of any kind? No. It presses boundaries for the standard systems its already on. I am betting this handheld wil be a tie in or spinoff similar to Galaxy.

Second, just because EA decides release dates doesnt meant that its automatically a bad thing. If EA really was this evil corporation they would have forced the game to come out this holiday regardless of a mobile game. From a profit standpoint there is no way that any mobile version of this game will come close to matching that of the main game. Why would EA purposely delay a major money maker to make room for a mobile gamethat would simply make a margin of the profits?

Well, this is... kinda a good thing actually. More time means more polish, even if the delay was originally all about the sales.

Besides, now I won't fail my January exams. I can't imagine that having ME3 would have had a positive effect on my revision.

hey man I love the idea of the delay to give more time to the dev team to polish it I just don't like to read

Were delaying this for you so that you have the greatest experience bla bla bla" and then it turns out it was halted due to a handheld...I always preffer the truth...

Fantastic news. Cheap shot: DA2 should have done something similar.

Well at least I don't have to choose between ME3 and Skyrim to play at the end of the year. I'd rather it be ME3 that gets all the extra polish so I'm happy about this. Bioware, make this game fantastic and takE all the time you need to make it sO. Also, now they won't have to ccompete for Game of the Year awards against each other. Nice decision Bioware, nice.

Skyrim and Deus Ex 3 will keep me busy for some time, so Bioware has loads of time to polish ME3

I'm not hung up over it though I am dissapointed. And to those going

WELL LONGER TIME MEANS BETTER GAME!!!

No, not true. I've seen plenty of games with loooooong waits that were pure crap. I suspect this has much more to do with holiday releases than anything else.

NO! This is literaly the only game I was genuinely looking forward to this year. :(

I want the game to be as good as possible, but there really isn't that much in terms of entertainment that grabs my interest. A couple books here. A couple movies there. And the odd game release. This is a good thing in the long run, but it sucks for me personally.

Where do I got to ask/complain about RPG features apparently getting buried?

Bioware is scared. Dukes already know they aint stand no chance of selling a million and getting that big bwoy guap if they came at the same time of their father Gears of War. Im pretty sure dukes gonna look at Gears 3 and copy and paste a few things from Ciffys superior game like they did when they analyzed gears 2 and made mass effect 2.

(Not speaking for himself here, speaking for people that are gonna go in the ''Army'') What about those who have to go into boot camp? ive heard alot saying they are gonna do that by the end of this year/start of next year, they wont even get a chance to play it Q1 next year when it's released until next year is prolly over[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/sad.png[/smilie] and that sucks and i actually feel for them!.

I'm with the camp that's happy about the delay... it can only mean more time to refine and polish what they have. There's enough good games coming this year to keep me occupied until ME3 is released in early 2012.

My first reaction was sadness, but reason & logic quickly pushed that aside as I realized it's a good thing.

So yay Bioware :)
