DAII was a great game, but it came out to soon, because it lacked a propper ending. That can not happen with ME3! If they need more time, I say take it!

On topic:  Good.  Especially given the news that they want to make it appeal to a "broader" audience.  Hopefully the longer dev time will be them shoe horning MORE stuff in in order to broaden the appeal, instead of them cutting things out.

Off topic:  So, that Man Giraffe Dog post actually made me lol for once.   That guy is seriously committed to Man Giraffe Dog.  How long has he been at it now?  :o

Why do I get the feeling they saw the reaction to DA2 looked at the direction they were taking ME3 and had an "Oh ****!" moment.

I'm also getting the feeling we're going to end up with Gears of Mass Effect.

Ah well, I always thought this game was probably going to be a renter.  Now I know for certain.

Guess this'll be the second ever Bioware game that I won't be buying. ( The first being DA2 )

and i guess you're still a tool... a sub-2-year turnaround was always going to be a big ask for a game as complicated as ME3 undoubtedly will be.

And I could say that you're still a cretin but I won't.  There's no need for personal insults so why do it?

If this is being tweaked to make it more casual friendly then it's going to become nothing but even more of a generic shooter with extra long talkie bits than ME2 was.

If the delay means that they're going to add back the RPG elements as well as improving the combat mechanics, then that would be wonderfull.  But ( and I really hope i'm wrong ) from that quote it looks like they're going to end up taking them out again in an attempt to turn it into a game of generic instant gratification.

If it turns out i'm wrong ( and I really hope that I am ) then chances are i'll change my mind and buy the game. But as it currently stands there's been no information delivered to prove that that's going to happen.

I am almost flattered at their choice to delay it. Also with the fact they are telling us. Most developers never reach out to the community like BioWare. I say, "take your time and take my money!"

For all the different opinions from us forum folks, this is one of the few topics that I've seen a nearly universal endorsement (which is surprising since this would normally be met with screams). I saw this type of response for the Shadow Broker DLC too.

I'm all for them working on the Game longer making it one of the best Games in the Series but...

If they add Multiplayer to Mass Effect 3 that's anything else besides Co-op then i'm not buying it, because i buy Mass Effect for the Amazing Single-Player experience. If i wanna play a Third-Person Shooter Multiplayer Game then i'm sticking with Epic Games (Gears of War Series) since they have years of experience with TPS Multiplayer Games. Also, while the Gameplay and Action where way better in Mass Effect 2 then in Mass Effect 1 they turned it to much into an Action Shooter then a Role-Playing Game. All that i wanna see in Mass Effect 3 is return all the RPG Elements that Mass Effect 1 had and the Amazing Gameplay/Action that Mass Effect 2 offered into Mass Effect 3 with some Graphical Updates, New Weapons, same Party in ME1&2 (don't bother adding any new ones this time), some Improvements in Gameplay and more stuff to do in the Game. Not to mention return the old Store System with a bunch of stuff to Select from and let us Customize our Party again instead of robbing us with DLC Clothing.

Hadn't thought about that. I heard the delay and was exited that they had more time to polish the game. But if they are delaying for MP....And I'm sure EA is pushing for it....

One of the guys over at EA said something like "fire-and-forget, packaged goods only, single player, 25 hours and you’re out. I think that model is finished". Fairly recently I think. Now that is taken out of context, and doesn't mean they are making a ME3 deathmatch mode by any stretch of the imagination, but it does lend support to delaying for MP.....Hopefully it's just paranoia talking in my head again.

Regardless, I think the delay is a good thing for ME fans.

Yay! more development time! I'm kinda glad too because I already have a ton of games to play in late 2011.

Well, at least I know it won't be rushed like that POS of a game called Dragon Age 2.

I'm okay with this. Now it can score all the Game of Year 2012 awards.

I'm not happy about this delay. In fact, I've gone from being excited about ME3 to concerned. I have no problem with the delay itself, its the reason given:

"Essentially, step by step, [BioWare is] adjusting some of the gameplay mechanics and some of the features that you'll see at E3 that can put this into a genre equivalent of shooter-meets-RPG, and essentially address a far larger market opportunity than Mass Effect 1 did and Mass Effect 2 began to approach."

bad, bad, bad, bad! not a word of this sounds good! It sounds like they are spending the time to do the exact opposite of what they said they would and move the game even further from the ME1 model. I have no problem with spending time to make the game better, but it sounds like they are trying to add multiplayer, or some other feature that will appeal to FPS players, and even with the extra time this could still have a negetive impact on the single-player story.

Bioware was planning on releasing this game in 2012 from the beginning, they just said fall of 2011 to start hyping up all the fans and get people excited about their early previews. Which completely failed imo, I get nauseous whenever I hear more dissapointing news about ME3.

The quote everyones worried about is another marketing ploy to get all those casual shooter fans excited about purchasing this game after they get tired of their games from 2011, like who really didn't think that they were adjusting the game to reach that "larger market" from the very beginning... It was obvious from the early previews that they still have the exact same mindset from DA2 and ME2, the quote doesn't suprise or dissapoint me as it would've if it was said before the release of ME2.

Guess its true what they say about 2012....
Commander Shepard fails to save us and the world ends.
:(

On a positive note less bugs mean crashes meaning Shepard might just survive long enough to save us all :)

I'm happy the game's delayed - a more quality and polished end product's always good. Hat's off to Casey for the decision, I'm already a big fan of his. Under his leadership, ME franchise saw a great improvement from the first to second. Now, my money's on the team to blow us apart with the last of the series.

I have no problem with a delay but I do have a problem with what EA said about appealing to the masses and I stand by what I said, I hope that Bioware doesn't let EA screw up this "chance of being an" epic game. I don't plan to buy Skyrim until I see reviews and game play vids. I own Morrowind and Oblivion. Morrowind moves so slowly that it bores me and I miss the companions in Oblivion which wasn't a bad game when it was modded even though the lead and npcs are really ugly without mods. I was looking forward to Mass Effect 3 but I can wait as long as they don't screw it up.

how does adding extra time onto making/adding to the game = taking things out? when have BW ever put anything in simply for "instant gratification" as you so put it? or to dumb anything down? what you, and others of your ilk, fail to realise is that by adding more features to combat and other areas actually makes the game better, more complex and more complete. if they really want to compete with the true TPS' whilst also maintaining the RPG element, it will require as big a jump as from ME1>ME2.

i can see some justification for caution with some of the removed (and added) mechanics of ME2, but your consistently negative attitude in all your posts is unjustified.

Shepard looks like he did in ME1. That 50k plat investment really payed off!
I like what they did with Kaidan's look. Very heroic. That's some really great artwork.

/edit Shep looking less like Karl Urban? Bummer....

This.

I rather have the game in full quality than another rushed mess like DA2. So although I have to wait longer now for ME3 I approve of the delay. Good games need TIME. Period.

I think they're delaying it to make it even more like a FPS

This games going to be such a disappointment to the rpg fans, Bioware are destroying their fanbase by turning the game into Halo. :(

I was searching ME3 in the news and look what the articles read

'Meaningless' RPG Elements To Be Cut From Mass Effect 3
Mass Effect 3 delayed to target a "Larger Market"

Sound like good news to you?

They wouldn't. They've said since day one it will b e more rpg centered. They arent going to screw this up. I don't get the concern it will be fine.
