My first reaction to this was similar to several others in this thread (nooooooo), and I assume that the reason for the delay is to avoid releasing the game close to other major titles (ToR, Skyrim, Uncharted 3 etc.), but then realized that despite what reason they have for the delay, they will get additional time to polish the game. Unfortunately, ME3 was my number 1 game for 2011 and delaying it to 2012 might cause it to collide with The Last Guardian or Skyward Sword.

OK, there seems to be some confusion about Man-Giraffe-Dog on the forums, notably that it just looks like a Giraffe-Dog. Well... that's the POINT. Why do you think I'm the only one warning you. It's disguised as a Giraffe-Dog until it's ready to take over the world.
OK this is how Man-Giraffe-Dog came to be:


While growing up it was spotted in the wild (but the team was all killed by it and the photos were recovered afterwards)


After which it began its infiltration of humanity, disguised as Giraffe-Dog:


Which leaves us here. Man-Giraffe-Dog is poised to attack and destroy humanity and I'm trying to warn everyone before it's too late. This is totally serial guys. You need to prepare.

It's Kaidan NOT Kaiden. (ahhhh, that feels better) 

Also, I think it is time that Kaidan shared the limelight. He was/is one of the most misunderstood (and badly auto-levelled) characters in the game. <_<

Ashley got her share in ME (and I love her btw, best friend femshep ever had in my games) Liara has certainly had her share in 2 (and looks to be getting more in 3.........) so from the original LI's point of view the Kaidan fans have lucked out badly for years. Why do people resent us getting a bit of BioWare love for OUR favourite? All the ME2 LI fans get plenty of satisfaction from being able to visit their LI constantly (and Liara fans)

So seriously, if you can't say something nice - don't say anything. Treat other people's preferences with the same respect you would like for your own. There are certainly characters I am indifferent too and some I don't like in ME/ME2 but I don't troll their fans and whine constantly if they are mentioned or shown. And trust me when I say I can think of two squad mates I would left behind on Virmire in Ashley's place because I wasn't fussed and because I would sacrifice anyone other than Kaidan to have kept her. But that is just me. I certainly mean no offense to the people who like the others, I am just so...............bored.... with folk who have had nothing to moan about for two years suddenly getting all p*ssy because BioWare haven't revealed their fave as a squaddie yet, patience is a virtue you know and VS have been waiting that whole time for ANYTHING without so much as a bone thrown, we are still here  And we are equal to everyone else  ''All LI's are equal'', right?

That said.............. *breathes out* ......................... Thanks for the new screenshots, Chris, they are great and will create much speculation  and thanks for the info. I guess I don't mind waiting, if it had come out in November it would have been agonising because I would have waited til boxing day to play   (I have a Christmas gaming tradition)  So not too bad from my point of view. Again, thanks Chris, for the update it is much appreciated...

Neither of those are new weapons.  Shep's holding a Mattock.  Kaidan's got a Scimitar.

Yep Mattock. Though Im curious what it'll look like once we "customize" it. Bet it'll be awesome. So many options so many ways to blow stuff up

Late reaction: my bad, sorry. I never installed the Firepower pack (shame on me I guess<_<). Really didn't recognize the Scimitar though. The customization is going to be pretty awesome. Unless certain options are simply better statistically than others, which could force the player to choose prowess over looks. I wonder how (and if) they'll balance that out, kind of like they did with the armors in ME2.

Wonder the same thing, but I don't think it's the Salarian world, because another ME3 screenshot is confirmed to be the Salarian world and that looks quite tropical. I initially thought Palaven as well but then I read Garrus says Palaven is a lot like virmire, which would be more on the tropical side as well. With that in mind I think it's either the Asari world (hence all the blue) or maybe our own 22nd century Earth!
