Never been bothered with waiting for something, patience is a virtue and more people should be more patient instead of impatient and whining when they don't get something exactly when they demand it.

this final chapter deserves an epic conclusion and a few extra months of development can only do good to the game

"One of the things that Ray Muzyuka and the team up in Edmonton have done is essentially step-by-step adjust the gameplay mechanics and some of the features that you'll see at E3 to put this in a genre equivalent to shooter-meets-RPG," he said, "and essentially address a much larger market opportunity than Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 began to approach.
"We're huge believers in the IP and are purposefully shifting it to address a larger market opportunity."
what does that mean? the game is going to be more casual? :?More shooter and less RPG???
Must say that frightens me a bit. In the past, the influence of EA was often detrimental.

I mean this in the politest way possible..... truly I do....
It's Kaidan NOT Kaiden. (ahhhh, that feels better)
Also, I think it is time that Kaidan shared the limelight. He was/is one of the most misunderstood (and badly auto-levelled) characters in the game. <_<
Ashely got her share in ME (and I love her btw, best friend femshep ever had in my games) Liara has certainly had her share in 2 (and looks to be getting more in 3.........) so from the original LI's point of view the Kaidan fans have lucked out badly for years. Why do people resent us getting a bit of BioWare love for OUR favourite? All the ME2 LI fans get plenty of satisfaction from being able to visit their LI constantly (and Liara fans)
So seriously, if you can't say something nice - don't say anything. Treat other people's preferences with the same respect you would like for your own. There are certainly characters I am indifferent too and some I don't like in ME/ME2 but I don't troll their fans and whine constantly if they are mentioned or shown. And trust me when I say I can think of two squad mates I would left behind on Virmire in Ashley's place because I wasn't fussed and because I would sacrifice anyone other than Kaidan to have kept her. But that is just me. I certainly mean no offense to the people who like the others, I am just so...............bored.... with folk who have had nothing to moan about for two years suddenly getting all p*ssy because BioWare haven't revealed their fave as a squaddie yet, patience is a virtue you know and VS have been waiting that whole time for ANYTHING without so much as a bone thrown, we are still hereAnd we are equal to everyone else
''All LI's are equal'', right?
That said.............. *breathes out* ......................... Thanks for the new screenshots, Chris, they are great and will create much speculationand thanks for the info. I guess I don't mind waiting, if it had come out in November it would have been agonising because I would have waited til boxing day to play
(I have a Christmas gaming tradition) So not too bad from my point of view. Again, thanks Chris, for the update it is much appreciated...
THIS. So much this!
I was quite annoyed with BW for having handled the VS like that in ME2, giving the impression that they couldn't care less about these two since their popularity isn't anywhere near the Tali, Liara or Garrus hype. The VS were treated as if they belonged in a box in the basement.
I'm glad they decided to unearth them from their dusty grave and give them a proper place in ME3.
I was very surprised to see Kaidan (of all characters) on that picture, I can tell you!
This really made my day when I first saw it.
Kaidan and Ash being the first squadmates that got announced was a fine thing to do. Dissolved my growing anger right there
Next news: Kaidan a spectre! (Something I didn't want to know just yet but oh well)
Wow, this translates into more confirmation that the VS are actually going to have a story in ME3!
I'm thrilled about the spectre thing. It fuels my hopes for deep discussions. Hopefully that brings them closer to Shepard again. Something they have in common now, something to share feelings about..
So far the announcements for ME3 have been generous for the Kaidan ( and Ash) fans.
BW did stay true to their word after all. They saved the VS for ME3.
Now I'm actually optimistic about this game
Btw, what's with people being confused about Kaidan's ME3 looks??? He looks almost the same as in ME1!
I didn't like the way he looked in ME2. I don't know if it was the frog eyes, but he was almost ugly.
Glad he's going to be hot again in ME3

Based on this looks like they are just trying to bring in money instead of following what made everyone love ME1. The are pandering towards the Call of Duty fans trying to release a shooter game. So seems like ME1 will have the most RPG elements, ME2 had less, and ME3 will have even less RPG elements with more focus on a straight shooter.
I still can not wait for this game, but my expectations dropped a peg. I was hoping for more RPG elements than ME2.
Also just found this:

"This news has not gone down well in some quarters, with some already accusing EA of "dumbing down" the game, before it even comes out. The assumption seems to be that BioWare would focus on the shooter gameplay, and let the RPG elements fall by the wayside. It's important to remember, however, that this was a comment intended for investors, not gamers, so is undoubtedly lacking in context and detail."

That's the same sort of wording they used for Dragon Age 2. That has me deeply concerned that they are going to do the same "over the top" garbage combat mods they did for DA. "Now, when you use a biotic power - something AWESOME happens!" "Biotic Push now explodes in a fireball and wipes out 50 enemies at once!"

if this is true and they're stripping down already implemented RPG elements to make it more appealing to shooter fans it would be a very bad move for Bioware, because they'd have 2 very successful games (Dragon Age and Mass Effect) that started very good when it came to pleasing the loyal fans, but along the way, they started losing those RPG elements people were accustomed to seeing in a Bioware game in the favor of more streamlined action elements.
if this really happens, bioware will have lot of problems with the loyal fans who'll probably start abandoning them... and even if they gain more new "fans" those fans will not be able to replace the core audience Bioware built for the past decade, which will hamper their plans of releasing new IPs that don't have gunfights or have guns but don't play like GOW.
Bioware should know that the success of their 2 IPs is owed to their loyal fans and another wrong turn with Mass Effect could possibly send them in a downward spiral... so instead of pleasing their money-hungry owners, they should please their fans who'll never leave them if they deliver the same quality products they delivered up unil DA2 (which is not bad, but it's a first side-step). they have a privileged position now and they should take advantage of it when discussing their long term strategy with EA.
If EA wants a Mass Effect shooter, they should get one, but after ME3 and it shouldn't be developed by Bioware

The point is that this post says that Bioware is delaying the game so that they can make big changes to the Gameplay, in a direction not taken in ME1 and started in ME2. Considering that nearly everything introduced in ME2 was moving away from RPG into shooter, and that the post even uses the words "to appeal to a larger audience" It looks like they are indeed making changes to appeal to FPS fans (and may change what they have already said they would do).
I'm acually pretty worried after reading this.
I liked the direction ME3 seemed to be going, what with all of what you listed and the lack of multiplayer, but after this it looks like they might take it in (what I would consider to be) a worse direction afterall.
I enjoyed ME2, and think most of the changes were positive, but I dont want the game to move even further away from ME1.

Exactly. Which is why I don't think there's any need to get worked up about it.
