The main problem from what I can see is that people are comparing DA to ME and that seriously needs to stop. Besides the conversations and detailed characters there is nothing else that branches the two together. They are two different franchises made for different audiences. (Pure Fantasy vs Sci-Fi)
Cancelling your preorder because of a completely different game not doing as well as you thought is silly and rather dumb. I was convinced about ME3 as soon as I saw the scans/pics they used in Game Informer.

Not to mention they're 2 almost completely seperate teams. I mean they don't have half of the ME team also working on The Old Republic.

That being said it's also Bioware and they weren't able to make themselves invunerable to EAs influence during the DA process so you know anything could happen really. Which I can imagine that conversation only going 1 way "hey lets take some of your excellent ideas and throw them out the window, so we can have a quick release" I mean really EA do your ideas sound good? Who makes these decisions? Because you should be firing the idiots that do.

I hadn't heard that Tali (however I figured most people expected) was confirmed as a party member or there would be no new romance options before the PC Gamer article.

Got to say it's nice for Tali fans to finally get confirmation which was cool of Bioware since they could've held out to build up hype given the size of her fanbase.

Not so enthusied about the other.

I play Female Shepard and was really hoping for Miranda or Tali to become a Bi character for her.  Not going to call out Bioware or say anything bad about the dev team because the chioce is their's and they have every right to make it.

However I must say that this kinda sucked for me on a personal level so I will probably end up waiting for a Steam sale before I pick up the PC version of the game.

Either way, hopefully everyone who gets it will have an even better experince with the delay though.

Speaking from a purely selfish point of view, if this delay coincides with a back track on 'no multiplayer', this will go from a pre-order to 'wait for the first major reviews and player feedback' purchase.

I don't know how anyone can agree that something has had 'more awesome added' when we have no points of reference to compare it to. Unless BioWare come out later in the piece and say "originally we had this in place, but the added awesome is this" then we'll be none the wiser as to what was improved.

I dunno, I'm starting to feel less and less excited about ME3. I still hope I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'm glad, if there is any question of cutting corners due to time constraints. Just don't pull a SC2 or a Duke Nukem and wait 10 years. I fully believe that DA2 would have been spectacular if there was time to make every environment unique, and I was allowed to talk to my party members outside of quests. I am VERY glad that ME3 will be done the right way, not the quick way. That said, when ME3 fever hits me, I will hate the extra time. Just ignore me when that happens.

Every single game developer under the sun has given that exact same reason for delaying their game. Not that I mind, since there will be a slew of other games for me to choose.

Yes, I was hoping they'd delay as Id likely have to Spec up for Skyrim before going in to get ME3.
Plus, I want to thrash out a few more character builds to pla through ME3 with.

please do not destroy M.E. as you did with DA2, is my only favorite show, you are a serious company, EA **** off and produce a masterpiece of game that you are able to do, do not be put quickly just because "that devil" wants to win in three seconds. You know better than all you have product DA2 too quickly, as demonstrated by the fact that you have made errors appear in the first ME (the same circles!). Please, I say this with all my heart, create a masterpiece that you are worthy of creating a definitive confirmation ME. Do that in addition to 9 / 10 sites that do reviews, people who buy it (not the casual gamer who can only play a barbie) say "God is a fabulous game, BIOWARE THANKS!"
good job, alessandro

It's now confimed in the June issue of PC Gamer. TIM is working with the Reapers just like Saren did. If you spared the Collector's base in ME2, you've just aided the enemy. So much for going down that route... :(

I think it's gonna be a lot of plot holes since Liara is permanent squaddy and TIM is indoctinated.

Whilst I hope the delay is due to polish, this worries me...

One of the things that Ray Muzyuka and the team up in Edmonton have
done is essentially step-by-step adjust the gameplay mechanics and some
of the features that you'll see at E3 to put this in a genre equivalent
to shooter-meets-RPG," he said, "and essentially address a much larger
market opportunity than Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 began to
approach.
"We're huge believers in the IP and are purposefully shifting it to address a larger market opportunity."

I'd hoped there would be a slight shift back towards the more rpg centric ME1 but I can't help but feel this is EA sticking an oar in

Great news! Take your time Bioware and make sure Shepards final chapter will be his and his friends/fans/familys greatest, ever! Though The ME universe shall continue on even after Shepards story ;)

World will end in 2012 some say, I say NOT! ^^,

Yes I second this.  I don't want to see this game ruined becuase EA wants to commercialize this.  I meen if they want to polish the game fine.  But don't drop the RPG elements from the game so it becomes more COD like.  They have a franchise for that.  For example DA: Awakenings was, I honestly felt, not as good as it could have been.  More action less char development and story equals hack and slash! um no, that was not what DA: O was!  Please Bioware, don't change what made ME, leave the deep universe don't let EA ruin it.  If I'm just not understanding and they want to do is make the fight mechanics more action based thats cool but dont drop the story and the universe!

I think this thread clearly needs more "wah look at me I'm mad about a video game so I'm cancelling my pre-order" responses.

Just play Skyrim and stop littering the Bioware threads. We get it, you don't like Bioware anymore. Move along. No one cares.

For the rest of us, who actually did like ME2, this announcement doesn't really mean anything other than a much more clear release launch window. ME2 launching after Christmas probably helped out it's sales a ton, so this is a no-brainer. Why go up against the other juggernauts from November when you can push it back a couple of months and destroy sales after the New Year?

first off, because we love (or used to love) Bioware and the games they do... since most of the people that complain here are old fans of the company that most likely played all their games, they are the ones that know best how the company wa and how the move to EA changed it.
Bioware stood for "no compromise games" and they've turned into "do all EA says games" and this doesn't sit well with any of the company's fans (except the newcomers like yourself, that liked ME2 better than ME1)

Also, Bioware was so good that they could battle Bethesda any day and win (I like all Bioware games more than any of Bethesda's), so they shouldn't just stay away from the competition especially since Skyrim is launching in november and ME3 was supposed to launch at the end of December.

As far as holiday sales go, you probably don't knwo the fact that people spend more money during that timeframe.. actually they spend more then than they spent in the entire year, so it's illogical to delay your launch date after the holidays hoping to increase your sales when everyone's recovering from the holiday spendings, and most likely they won't buy anything until February or March... gaining you nothing as a company in the battle with other big names in the game industry.
We need an official respnse to this thread from Bioware because clearly people are expecting the worse since the EA announcement popped-up:police:

Not to be annoying and maybe I have myself to blame by following these boards, but if that is true, couldn't you have written MASSIVE SPOILER in your post? Or is this information something we supposedly learn at the beginning of the game? Or am I a complete thickheaded idiot for believing this post? BTW, TIM being indoctrinated is imo a terrible plot twist, wether it's true or not. I'd even rather have TIM being a friggin Reaper/human hybride then another Saren.
