There are 2 new screenshots up in the Mass Effect 2 Gallery
Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer Mass Effect series.
We'll have more details about specific dates as we get closer to release.
Sure, take your time.
Quality AND quantity is what make outstanding product.
Good luck to the ME team on that, and i applause their final goal : "exceed everyone's expections" is no small matter and i wish you will reach it.

Chickening out because of Skyrim, Bioware?
Why would they? Surely their fans would pick ME 3 over Skyrim, I know I would. (Although I'd buy both in reality)

So would I. I'm getting skyrim on the 11th of november but I will put it aside without hesitation the day ME3 comes out. That's why I'm actually not THAT dissapointed ME3 was delayed.
@Beerfish
To me it looks somewhat like a krogan husk... it's got roughly the same build so who knows. Seems it's got 4 eyes though so it might also be one of the human/batarian combo's. The horror. But at least we know they're hitting the batarians as well. *Evil laugh*

And I hope they aren´t doing this just because they´re afraid of the competition, but that they have some more polishing and improving in mind

First, as it's been stated/pointed out too death here *and* elsehwere, Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim are two *very* different IPs in two *very* different genres. As such, its likely they are going to appeal to slightly different audiences. Those looking for a rich, tight story with deep and intriguing characters (Mass Effect) and those looking for sandbox gameplay and alot of Pen 'n Paper player character mechanics (Skyrim)
So, please, Bethesda Fanboy/girls stop coming in here trying to incite something where there isn't really anything to begin with just because you're still feeling jaded over Dragon Age 2 or some other percieved affront from BioWare.
As to the Delay? Fantastic news. With the unfortunate complications behind the scenes that forced BioWare to rush development of Dragon Age 2, it comes as no surprise that BioWare/EA has learned the consequences of that kind of buisness model and are giving ME3 the polish for quality it has been given since ME1. So, cudos BioWare team. I would rather wait even past those first three months if it meant I'll be getting the culmination to Mass Effect that I've been looking forward too.

Hope there planning to go to E3 still. I feel sad that is has been delayed, but at the same time I feel it benfit from the extra months. Who has a odd feeling that it could be released on the 29/01/2012?
Offcourse they'll be at E3. They were at E3 2009 for Mass Effect 2 if I remember correctly and that wasn't out till January 2010
Also I hope it's out earlier than that. I hope its released on 1/1/2012

I won a copy of ME2 about a year ago, so I bought the first game and started to play it. Never made it through back then, though, since for some reason I always went back to playing DA:O whenever I tried to finish ME. After two (dissapointing) playthroughs of DA2 I finally returned to the Normandy and finished both ME games within the last two weeks.
And although I'm tempted to say that I can't wait for Shepard's story to be concluded I sure as hell CAN wait, as long as it takes. I'm really glad to see that the vast majority of comments (not only here) is quite positive about the delay. Without wanting to be labelled a "hater" or something, this gives me hope we won't get another rushed release like DA2.
Take your time, BioWare, and give Shepard the end he deserves! (mine deserves a shiny happy end btw ^^)

Given history, Skyrim's sales will outdo ME3's. And since higher sales give the game more popularity, which in turn produces more GOTY awards, I think Bioware wants to play it safe by pushing it to 2012.
At first I wasn't intending on buying Skyrim since ME3 was coming at the same time. But now I probably will.

What complications? It was planned all along to ship in 18 months, hell we had an ad flyer in the Origins box stating as such. From the get go DA2 was a rushed project.

Seeing all the positiv feedback from all those ME fans, its the best thing you could do.
Make the GAME the best game of the year 2012 and all those dissapointed DA2 buyers will love Bioware again.
