Okay, I know this is not meant serious and I do advise no one taking the following statements serious aswell:

BUT I CAN'T HEAR THIS STUPID 2012 THE WORLD ENDS BULL**** ANY LONGER!!!

Long story short, the mayan calender ends in 2012. The Julian Calender ends after 365 days. I hear no one rambling about how the world will end after 365 days. And yes, this is totally the same, because just as we keep on repeating the same calender pattern over and over again, so could we repeat the mayan counting over and over again. Theirs is just more complex and spans a greater variety.

So let me repeat this in the most clear (and don't take this personally because I am only lifting some hot air) that I regard this statement on the world ending in 2012 as one of the most idiotic one I have yet ever encountered in such intensity that I want to crush things with my forehead and consider everyone making this statement, either out of belief or as a joke as similarily stupid.

ARRRRRRRRGH

Addendum:
I hereby apologize the variety of people I have evidently called idiots. I do not mean this serious and even less insulting. I am merely annoyed beyond scale of this stupidity-phenomenon and thus react accordingly.
I hopefully succeeded conveying my sincere regret for this outrage and leave things as they may be and shall leave this thread alone, if not for my own mental wellbeing and that of my wall and forehead.

(a less serious tone) Guys the world will end May 21st this year, there are Bill-Boards with this too.

(make to normal) Some crazy Christians who dont know how to read their Bible claim May 21st is when the world will end. When it clearly states in the Bible that no one cant predict the day Jesus Chris will return.

Oh and sorry for going all religious on this forums, I mostly us the 2012 end of the thing as a Joke.  But I think its a good thing because it might mean the game will be more polish or like the other forumite said, so the game will sell better.

Pro-Tip mentioning anything that dosent relate to a topic, its best to use the line, Off Topic, so the topic dosent get risked off going too off topic.

I dont know if Off Topic would help anyways, I mean look at the whole thread before you say something like that lol. Seems to be composed of the end of the world stuff as it is now.

I think of it this way:
If I'm right, and the world doesn't end, I get to play Mass Effect 3.
If I'm wrong, I'll  be too busy either being dead or fighting a bandit gang, myself dressed as a Baseball Fury from "The Warriors",for the last moldy scone in the Starbucks to care.

Off Topic: Yes they were using Osama as the voice for one of the reapers [/sarcasm]
On Topic: I think that BioWare's just trying to improve relations and make sure ME3 is really great after DA2s reception.

There are a lot of saps on this forum who think it's delayed to give it more "polish". lol

That doesn't matter, it's to maximize profit, period. EA wants to focus on its Battlefield 3 marketing campaign as well as Star Wars. They also want to avoid getting crushed under Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Call of Duty, and other games, and not to mention Skyrim.

But, if it helps people feel better, sure they want to "polish it up".

There have been numerous games that were delayed to better implement mechanics, include additional content they had not originally considered and so forth. We are not even certain the initial launch date was not an intended ploy to drum up attention and was never the actual release date.

Undoubtedly, maximizing profit is the most likely cause for the delay but there is no basis to disregard other possibilities.

It think it's silly to think the world will end just because of some old calendar. I'm chalking this up to another Y2K (people thought the world might end then also) scaremongering session.

On topic, maybe Bioware/EA didn't want to pit ME3 up against Skyrim, especially with the ME series' RPG elements being watered down further each release, thus making Skyrim's RPG elements look stronger. Of course, Skyrim could yet be delayed; the year is young.

At least TW2 will be arriving on my doorstep in a couple weeks. :)

Skyrim is firmly etched for 11/11/11 haha. It's sad if that's really the reason and it shows a lack of faith in their franchise when competing with TES. Although TES has a rich history, I think ME3 could have given them a good run. We'll never know now though.

Got a question for you. What exactly do you think Bioware are going to do in the meantime? Say they could complete the game and have it be as close to perfect as they could hope for by November, 2011. Lets say, hypothetically, that ME3 is slated to release on January 26th, 2012.

What exactly are you saying they would be doing in the meantime? What do you think Bioware are going to do in the two months between November and the end of January?

You think they are going to sit on their hands playing spin the bottle? How 'bout Yahtzee or Monopoly? Are you saying they are going to just take a vacation or slow down their pace because the date has been pushed back?

I guarantee you that economics are a major factor in why ME3 got pushed back. The same was true of ME2 if you'll recall because CoD:MW2, Halo Reach, and a few other games came out that same winter (2009).

However that doesn't mean Bioware are going to just procrastinate like high schoolers because the "due date" got pushed back. ME2, whether you want to believe it or not, is a highly polished, graphically and technically, game compared to the original. Texture popin is gone, graphics are great now, and a lot of fan complaints were answered.

There is no reason to believe that Bioware will not spend that extra time polishing their game. So in essense, you're both right.
