I confess, that I don't know much about that theory, would it have to come out December to fit with it?
December 21, 2012 is suppsoed to be the date for all that believe in the theory.
You don't have to believe in it to understand what they're talking about, you don't even have to think it's sane.
**** the Mayan calendar, 2012 is when Skynet becomes self aware.

Then how do we make it to find the mass relay? D:

Wait, is Mass Effect 3 delayed?
It was pushed back from the holiday season of 2011 to the first three months or so of 2012. This is most likely because a lot of big-name RPGs and action games are all coming out around this holiday season and it's a bit hard to compete effectively, Mass Effect or no; the game will likely sell better if it waits for a "calmer" time.
All fine by me, because there are already quite a few games coming out then to kill all of my spare time, so ME3 coming out later fits my schedule to a T.

It keeps them from having to compete with Skyrim, at least. I'm grateful for that, because Skyrim will own my soul for a few months.
I'm looking forward to ME3 after the spoilers now more than Skyrim or the Witcher 2 although I plan to play all of them...maybe it was to keep from competing somewhat but I'm glad they did it...not just for a better game but because this year is kinda looking like rpg overload.

The end of the Mayan Long Count is not meant to signify an apocalypse, it's just meant to herald the end of an era and the birth of a new era, presumably via some kind of paradigm shift. I vote alien contact.

nah the real reason is they're making a mobile version which they want launched simultaneously with the console versions
hence "reaching a wider audience"
Here's the deal: not one damn person here knows the "real reason". There's just a bunch of people who think they do.

At any rate, ME3's delay just makes it a better birthday present. I can wait for a few months.

They're probably working on very extensive DLCs
I remember one on the ME team stated that they won't be working on any DLC.

True. Since you pointed that out, I'll share my guess as to why Mass Effect 3 was pushed back. Dragon Age II has horrible sales, or at least much lower than anticipated. In the first nine weeks, it has only sold 1,325,147 of the 2,000,000 units shipped to retailers, and its sales are falling fast, despite price cuts and special deals. I have a feeling sales will drop even more once The Witcher 2 is released. Assuming the retailers bought those units under a short-term loan contract, EA will need to buy back 600,000+ units, which will be a dead-weight loss on the next fiscal year. BioWare, as far as I know, had no releases planned for 2012, which means the studio would be operating at a huge loss for that fiscal year. So, Mass Effect 3 was pushed back to counter that loss and make the books look better.didymos1120 wrote...

Of course, that is all just my speculation.
