Ask any of my friends that play DA and they'll tell you I can't stand Anders. All he does is whine about templars etc.. Fenris is just as bad about mages but a lil more tolerable. That said,  given the presence of Anders/Justice and Fenris/Lyrium tattoo, who would win if they get in a fight.

To me it comes down to the old Ranged vs Melee debate. (If a melee hits a light armor class they are in trouble, but if a ranged class gets off a huge spell or two, melee is in trouble). Soooooooooooooo, what do ya think?

First question in my mind, is Fenris more immune to magic? Does Justice reduce the damage Anders takes?

Side note: I wish they had a dialogue choice to tell them the STFU sometimes lol

They would both be scolded by Aveline and then forced to wait in the corner.

Let's see....
Fenris's Lyrium tats make him more resistant to magic, however Anders does have the Panacea ability which helps his health regenerate. In the end I would say Fenris mainly because of the resistance to some magic and power that he could put behind a greatsword.

Not to mention his (Fenris) "Heart Punch"..

'tis also true. If he's able to get close enough Anders's done...

Take them both to the Fade, hold party, get Fenris to attack Anders and you can find out. Cage match!

My money is on Fenris.

Considering Anders is mostly a healer, I imagine Fenris would decapitate him with that compensating-for-something sword before he got a chance to do any real damage. You can't heal headlessness, and I doubt even Justice could save him from that.

Well, I don't know about what sort of experience everyone else had, but in the Fade, my Fenris one-shots my Anders. ;) So I vote Fenris.

Take his weapon away and let him have the default. He's about a dangerous as a kitten :) I go into the fade with Just Anders, and never worry about fighting. But I digress.. LOL

In nightmare mode, Fenris can one-shot anyone who strays too close to him.

Now why would I deliberately cripple him?  I always get Anders to turn on me, so it's a positive thing that Fenris can wipe him out fast.   Extra conversations are good!  Fighting Fenris alone later is slightly less good, of course . . . but like you mentioned, there are Ways . . .

Fenris, now if it was Merrill, it would be a awesome fight.

This is so very true. Whomever thought melee ff was a good idea should be spanked.

I vote Fenris wins.

Yup. Made me laugh though so I didn't really mind. Merrill killed some of my companions pretty quickly in the fade too. Didn't have a problem with Isabela in the fade yet she pwned Anders when I sided with the templars and he came back to fight us. Anders is very squishy.

Anders might win if he adopted the Champion's anti-Arishok tactic.

Namely, running away for most the fight.

I dunno, story wise Anders is "not of mortal men" and rips people's heads off with his hand. I don't think Fenris has much of an edge in terms of their informed abilities/cutscene powers to the max. Gameplay wise, it probably depends on how far apart they start off. Anders can do beastly damage if built right. Fenris could still one-shot him up close.

Fenris (with Rune of Valiance) can also get to around 40% to 45% magic resitance, plus any resist's  his tat's give him.

That only lowers damage taken, as I understand it. That won't stop the beast.

Forget scolding.  Aveline would beat them both with a big sign that says "DON'T."

My next VS thread should be Isabella vs Aveline. :)

Simple: depends on how you specced them.
In most of my games Anders is mostly DPS with a bit of healing and Merrill is the one with sustainables (since she has blood magic so her mana matters not). I think I had one game play where Anders had the shield and other sustainables. Considering most of my Anders specs, I'd say Fenris would not be able to move from the first go and then get his ass killed and fast.
Fenris is not so powerful without boosting abilities and abilities that weaken the enemy.
Though it depends how you spec him. My first Fenris was weak-sauce, my latest Fenris is a beast because I've played a warrior myself and finally realized how to make the most of him.

I think if both are properly spec-ed it'd be random which one wins. Without health poultices Fenris would never win to Anders with full healing abilities.

Also about Anders when he turns against a pro-templar Hawke. He's most certainly not wearing the gear I gave him nor using the awesome staff I gave him.
Both Fenris and Anders were weak-sauce nothings when they turned on Hawke at the end of the game. At least in the fade they get to keep the great stuff you gave them. I never had to fight Anders in the Fade, but Fenris was nothing to my properly spec-ed mage. And I only had the basic healing spell, I was nobody when it came to healing compared to Anders.

Anders is a good healer (the devs had to give him some redeeming qualities or many would never use him EVER). When I play a mage, Anders draws dust unless I need him to further the story. Spirit healing and a couple group buffs and we're good to go. :)

Fenris. He's a machine. Anders is a squishy. His background story may have him pulling the heads off Wardens, but I haven't seen anything in game that shows anything near that kind of power.

In the Fade, one/two he's gone. I haven't had him live past the murder knife in Act 3 so I can't comment on his resilience then.
