Every forum on the internet...

Everywhere I go, I see people acting like damn retards. I know there has always been on the internet, but for the past two years, idiots have steadily bred and are now are outnumbering the "normal" internet people.
Thoughts? Is this really a big deal? Or are my panties in a knot like they are sometimes?

No, it's a normal thing (for example, I'm certainly an idiot, there's no doubt in that, and I won't get offended if you tell me).T1nk3rb311 wrote...

But to specify, there are two sorts of strange people (which I won't call in a too offensive way) around the net :
1) Children that think themselves big adults, with important life and think everyone else are their slaves;
2) Those that really want to annoy people and don't have a proper life to live, apart from annoying.
Feel free to add more cathegories.

A huge knot to be exact ^^
Quite a few people on the forum know me, and hate me at that...I made a troll guide that was locked....twice.... =P
People don't like it and I generally tell them they can go f themselves, which they can.
But as much of a **** as I seem to be, I'm not really that much of a bad person as I come off to be =P I just feed off of peoples negativity...is that so bad?
Mostly, this forum has proved itself not to deserve that luxury
Those few who have are on me friends list.
But you're right forums are turning for the worse....but you know what they say...can't beat em? join em!

These forums seem to be sort of in the middle to me. It was pretty bad around release, but it's somewhat better now, and I'm guessing it'll die down in a few months.

Depends on the forum. There are a few out there where everyone is fairly civil most of the time. They tend to be the smaller ones, in my experience.

Wishful thinking
I'll most likely be around till the forums are not

Also, if you want to encourage critical thinking and thoughtful debate beyond people posting one-liners or lame jokes, start discussing topics of interest beyond the usual videogame love/hate thread. In-depth discussions about books, movies, relationships, society, philosophy, personal likes/dislikes, politics (if flamewars don't result) etc are the way to go.
Long story short: you want a good, mature, intelligent community, you need to shape it from the start and work at it.

The thing is, Bioware forums were full of "oldie /b/-tards" who would follow the true, completely UNTOLD mantra of the true 4channer: You don't tell other people you're a 4channer and you certainly DO NOT act like you are on 4chan outside of 4chan.
I was fairly late to the 4chan thing, but I also do not consider myself a 4channer, because I got tired of it. But I was on there long enough to know that most people who were there long enough were pretty respectful people elsewhere, and only people who found it "new" and "hip" brought it ouside of 4chan and made it... Well, boring and common.
There's nothing exciting about /b/-tards anymore. There's more claim in being a goon or a farker.

Nice try, there was no mention of 4chan.

I understand that /b/ is a 4chan thing, so that can't be good.
