Whatever the case, DA2 did not meet MY expectations, but I think it sold enough for EA to justify DA2 as an success. Which is bad news for me, good news for EA. Now EA and just make another crap DA and ignore my complains.

.

I think it's fair to say that DA2 will fall short of any reaonable expectations for the sequal to DAO.  Look at the sold-through numbers for ME and ME2 (and ME2 had some contentious criticism I might add) and notice that there was a solid increase.  By comparison, DA2 will be lucky to a fraction of the sold-through numbers that DAO did.  It might crack 2 million sold-through eventually....but I woildn't bet on it going much past that.  Considering that DAO was at least 3.5 million....that's....not good.  Will DA2 turn a profit?  Probably.  Will it meet expectations?  Almost certainly not.

And, how many DA2 sales did DA2 lose to people who played DA1 and loathed? Quite a few. Quite a few.

Far fewer than it gained.

People not interested in CRGP's never bothered with Origins in the first place.
90% of people who quit at Ostagar would have never bouth DA2 either way...

Yeesh, can we get over that "90% stopped at Ostagar" stuff please? I also have a few characters that never got beyond Ostagar but that's because only wanted the achievement for playing through all Origins, I would never play as an elf or dwarf. I have 5 HN playthroughs though.
