I see a lot of buthurt hater.
After transofrming this forum in a terrible mess, accusing everyone who does not completely share your opinions to be fanboys, attacking personally devs and mods for your wrong sense of entitlement, posting each source that could confirm your biased opinions, we discover that DA2 is selling rougly like DA:O in the same timeframe (considering that it's not christmass time). Even for DA:O they used the "shipped" numbers when they talk of the 3+ million copies thing. And DA:O too was on heavy discount after the Christmass time.
The numbers of copies sold does not solve the flaws of DA2 that we are discussing but completely falsificate the dismissive and entitled attitude of the haters and troll. But please, continue, it's really enjoyable to see how much it's difficult for you to accept reality.
They didin't sell 2 millions DA2 copies to individual customers, they just shipped that copies to the retailers, and thats a fact. Vgchartz numbers for DA2 are more or less accurate, they match almost exactly EAs 'selling over one million in less than two weeks' annoucement, and thats also a fact. And yea, your burning hatred of 'haters' is really amusing, but I'm afraid they are still on the winning side. :innocent:

as posted nearly 204035 times in this thread allready, the report shows numbers from 3/31, the me2 bundle event started in april ..
also why do you people so much bother about the sold or shipped numbers? the only one who really matter for ea and bioware are the shipped numbers. their job is to sell their products to retailers not directly to the costumer.
Do you think that a retailer will buy just as much copies of a successor when the previous game did not sell well at all?

Yep. SHIPPED TO RETAILERS Not directly sold to consumers.
This is the point a lot of people aren't getting. While the trend shows DA2 probably has sold at least over a million, nothing to what EA corp speak is saying.
Look at crysis 2. Since the report ended on March 31st, and Crysis 2 was released March 22nd(24th, and 25th in other regions), its highly unlikely that they sold or shipped over 2 million like the report stated for crysis 2. Unless they were talking about crysis2 and Da2 sold in 2 million together.
So before everyone starts congradulating EAWare, wait and see! DA2 probably sold decently, not that great or what EAWare wanted. Remeber, it was stated their goal was for +5 million sales and 90+ metacritic score for DA2.
So we ought to wait a bit more time to see more sale numbers.

That is something to look at.
If Crysis opened up selling 2 million in it's first week, we should have seen some fanfare put out over the internet like what we saw with ME2 last year, which did sell 2 million in it's first week.

Can we have the figures for how many people sent their game back after hating it now, please?
is that possible to keep track of? For example, some guy bought DA2 from a retailer and decided to refund/exchange.
will the retailer simply put the refunded copy back on sale again? is the refund or exchange even on record?

Compare it to DA:O which sold in the same timespan far more than 2 million copies at full price.

Yeah, Nepp. That caught my eyes too. I did a bit of checking around, and I didn't find any hoopla, fanfare, champaign parties anywhere for the roaring success of Crysis 2. If a game actually managed to sell over 2 million in one week, we would've heard about it, most likely, no matter who the dev/publisher is.
It's primarily a shooter, so it wasn't an impossibility, but even for that genre that would have been remarkable. I'm not discounting it entirely, strange things happen, but I severely doubt it. We'll see. I'm not wishing bioware any ill, and if DA 2 does manage to pick itself up and sell lots more, then congratulations. Yes, it will diminish hope that they will return to the things I consider vital in a RPG, but so be it. I've not much hope of that anyways, no matter what happens to the sales/ratings of DA 2.

Sabriana: It's 2M up to yesterday, not up to the end of the financial period. So it's quite a bit more than one week for Crysis 2! No matter whether it's shipped to retailers or sold, DA2's >2M is still a comparable number to the 3.2M for DA:O up to December 2009. Nothing mind blowing, but given that this is not a holiday quarter, it's still very solid. I'm surprised myself, but there's no point to these silly conspiracy theories.
i'd be quite interested in the evidence you got for that
as it is a report of their fiscal year which ended on march 31st. writing the numbers of one more month into that could be considered lying. and i do not know american law, but i guess that would be illegal there too.

Too bad neither of us can quantify our opinions, though.
And if you paid attention...like at all...you would know that the reason people didn't get past Ostagar is because people that loved the game (With at least one play through alkready) were playing through all the origin stories just to see how they were.
It wasn't because they didn't like the game, so stop misrepresenting things here.

If you as example spare the money for hiring people who could create a third dungeon layout in the given time and scip effort at many other possible spots too you just don't need to sell the same numbers to have the same financial success which is EA interested in. I don't think that they truely expected DA2 to surpass DAO.

That's what I thought the report meant from the very start. I'm not sure why everyone thought otherwise.
Although I wouldn't consider it strange for Crysis 2 to sell over two million in one week.
I am also somewhat confused as to why is this topic so important to most people here. Is it that they want DA2 to sell bad to feel vindicated or something?
Personally, since DA3 has already been all but confirmed, how DA2 sells doesn't really concern me that much. It would've concerned me if EA was having doubts about keeping the franchise alive, but since that ain't the case, meh.
