I know the root of her prejudices are explained in the first game, her family history and the like, but come ME2 one of her few pieces of dialogue is "I'm no fan of aliens..." It's not as if she hasn't had the opportunity to change her views in light of the non-human crew's efforts to defeat Saren. Rather, Ash's views are deeply held beliefs, just like Shepard said.

It seems that her views haven't changed much in the two years since the Normandy's destruction. Now rumour has it that she's become a Spectre, will this appointment alter her political opinions?

No. She's a cautious "nationalist" and rightfully so. 35 years as part of the greater galactic community remember? Asari, Salarians, and Turians have been in power for millennia. Who really knows how they feel about the "human" upstarts? Cautious is the way to go.

I'm no fan of Tali, but I still like her character and take her on missions and make her survive the SM
I'm no fan of Garrus but the same applies to him.

Ashley's NEVER been racist so why would she start after working with Wrex, Tali, Garrus, and Liara. Her "I'm no fan of aliens" is based on a comparison to her views vs the extremeism shown by Cerberus.

Edit:  The bad thing about this thread [other than the issue being talked about in 3 active threads] is that I wanted to discuss Ash's potential growth since ME1 and I was wondering if & how that would be shown in ME3 ....  This thread has pretty much sucked the will out of me to discuss that now ...

How about Ashley fans pretend they admit Ashley is racist, but they don't give a rat's ass about that, because Ashley is awesome even in spite of that. Or because of that. Then lol at Ashley haters raging about a bunch of racist freaks the Ashley's fans are and getting banned because of that.

What's amazing is that Ashley has pretty much been gone since ME1 with a brief stint on Horizon, if she survived Virmire .... and I swear there seems to be more threads about her than even Shepard.

For that alone I really like her! She is the Angelina/Britney of the ME world! You go girl!

this is really interesting. I´am german and in germany being racist implies to be highly morally reprehensible, it´s much more than a character flaw. Thought we (germans) learnt our lesson, i hope so.

and it is simply wrong. Check the definition of "racist"!
