I will start by saying that to me romance isn't about sex it's about a loving connection that two people have wit eachother so the PG13 sex scene didn’t bother me. In fact I felt that the romance was done very nicely but thee are one or two thing that would of made it better.
1 Merrill is a Elf, blood mage and an apostate yet Hawke's mother says nothing has no opinion on what Hawke is doing? She's Hawkes mother surly a convocation peace where Hawke and His/Her mother talk about Merrill
and Hawkes feeling ok I Know that DA is and action RPG and not Home and Away but would a 30 or 40 second covasaisan really take away from the action bit and it would make sense and ad a bit of realism that in turn adds immersion
also no impact for having Merrill move in it would have been nice to get one of the letter of complaint that the codac thing says you receaved or to be confronted by a noble or two.
2 I'll start of this bit by say I hate the fact that you can't trigger cinvasasions with companions it was a issue that I had with awakening and one that I have with DA2 but they have put little snipits in witch leads me to my point for this part. Once Merrill moves in all she says is something about how sndle is watching her. This is both unromantic and a bit creepy Ok I don't want nor do I expect her to burst out in song and dance or to declare her undying love for Hawke every time I click on her but a little more romance would have been nice or maybe something like “we need to get more plants” or something that
indicated that she actually lived there.
as I said at the top of my post this is very Merrill Centric how relevant this next bit is to you the readers LI is up to you also warning spoilers.
3 ok here what I mean when I say there are 3 sceans were Merrill has a life changing and tragic moment the first is pol's death. She is rightly devastated by this and she kneels by his dead body and bursts into tears but what dose Hawke do? Dose he/she give the devastated women a hug or areassuring rub on the back or whatever? No Hawke dose nothing at all. The next scean is after Hawke mother dies Merrill is there for Hawke but I feel that an opportunity to see Hawke's softer side is missed and the chance for Merrill to reassure Hawke for a change. Finally at the end of A New Path another scen that would have been made better with an embrace or hug
anyway please don’t take this as anything more than my own thoughts on the matter and this is not meant as a dig at the game or any one individual it is also not meant as a fanboy rant and should not be taken as such
