I'm thinking of playing as a Barbarian for the first time. I may (or may not) take a couple of levels of Fighter or Frenzied Berserker. Is is a good idea to get Heavy armor feat or is it better to stick with medium armors? What are the pros and cons?
Thank you
First time Barbarian player, need advice

Barbarian isn't a great class, so a bit of multiclassing is good. Yes, heavy armor is usually better for Barbarians. 2 or 5 FB levels are good too, for Supreme Cleave and Enhanced Power Attack.

There's no pro to using lighter armors since the devs decided to throw almost all rules that would make them viable out the window. You can use mithral full plate (which is the best armor in the game) with just medium proficiency, but you won't find or be able to make one at the very start, so heavy armor gives you better AC at the start of the game but will become useless later on. From a powergaming standpoint I'd go with one fighter level unless you've got other multiclassing plans. The armor proficiency does help at the start plus you get another bonus feat (and tower shields as a small additional bonus). Then again, from a powergaming standpoint there's little point in more than one barbarian level if you're gonna mix with fighter so...yeah. Frenzied berserker is definitely a good idea.
EDIT: If you're gonna go without fighter levels, I'd really recommend using Kaedrin's and picking the alternative rage that gives you an extra attack and an AC bonus instead of a nerf. It may sound ridicilously OP (and it is compared to the ****ty standard rage) but it makes the class as a whole better balanced.

Use single syllable words. Or even better, just grunt. Even better, don't answer at all, just smash things with your fist, head, axe, bartender... whatever you find handy.
Look to frenzied berzerker for prestige class. The OC is fairly easy, so you'll be able to go through just fine. Enjoy all those HP's!

Yes, it's important to remember that being a Barbarian's more about the right attitude than any specific "benefits."
It's sad but true that NWN2 does not help Barbarians live up to their full, screaming potential. Most NWN2 combat involves fully armored opponents clanking towards each other across open terrain, and the game doesn't implement many important skill penalties for armor. In fact, because there's no penalty for fighter-types sleeping in armor, Barbarians lose their greatest weapon: their stench!
All of which is to say, if someone offers something that gives Barbarians an edge, crush them and take it immediately! (Except for Kaedrin, we definitely want to keep him around.)

In nwn2 your not need to be barbarian to gain the frenzied berserker prestige class. When you read the D&D books you need officialy rage (Battle Furry as exchange) class feature to gain the frenzied berzerker prestige class. if you like the barbarian rage bonus to STR or DR well you better can us aa Red Dragon multiclass combo or a Dwarven defender combo, Barbarian is just not a great class.

Barbarian is pretty cool, though, it's just underloved. From a flavour/RP standpoint, Barbarian and Frenzied Beserker go together like heads and tables, when you're a Barbarian/FB smashing said heads into said tables. At the end of the day, you can cleave your way through the OC pretty easily whichever base class you take, anyway.

To me, playing Barbarian is really trying something different. I've been playing Paladins and Fighters for my tanks since BG1 and I think I'm long overdue for a change.

For the OC, Barbarian is really just a preference, since the rules make a fighter more powerful.

I'm currently playing a Barbarian in the OC, as well. I am enjoying it immensely. I am having more fun with this character than with my straight up fighter. I took enough levels in Frenzied Berserker to get that cleave. I am curious, would it be better to just go back to taking Barbarian levels, or take more FB levels?

I like Barbarians myself but they can be a bit tricky to play.
Also, keep in mind that when you finish the official stuff, there is a lot more to do in NWN2. Check out the welcome thread:
